SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 20
Good morning!
This will be short as I'm short on time. Scottie and I have a standing walking date with Lori & Duchess from across the road for 7:30.
Yesterday I got another UFO nearly finished! Tablerunner and 10 placemats made from lotto blocks from about 4 years ago. Today, maybe another UFO. I only have 3 left - all swap blocks from the past year.
Supper last night at our friends was OK. Shish-ka-bob - chicken on some skewers and veggies on the other so it all got cooked evenly - onions, mushrooms, red and green bell peppers. With wild rice. And watermelon and blueberries for afters. Like us, they love shelties and their last sheltie died about 6 months ago. So they think they'll be getting a puppy near the end of the year. they went to a sheltie-only dog show, met a person who is co-owners of a sheltie kennel and turns out it is the one where we got Scottie! So their puppy could be a blood relative of our boy! small world. Will that make us in-laws? out-laws? dog-laws?
Supper tonite will be breakfast, I think - hashbrowns, eggs, and bacon. And now I gotta run!

Good morning
I only slept about 3 hours last night and feel yucky this morning. My hip and sciatic nerve and leg where too much for me, I almost cried. I'm waiting to hear from my massage girl for an appointment. I'm in pain standing, sitting and laying down so I don't know what to do.
I have thawed chicken for supper, think I'll make chicken and dumplings and zucchini.
Mary, how cool that your friends may be getting their own little bundle of Scotty joy
You supper sounds yummy from last night
so happy it wasn't alligator LOL
I need to move and get busy trying to do something that doesn't require any thought, cleaning I guess.
Tina

I know I am late, but just wanted to say hello. Gosh Mary, supper was a great surprise! Much better than you thought might happen. A new puppy from same breeder. Guess your right, you might just be "dog-laws" ha, I like that.
Sorry for your pain, Tina, I know how you must be so beside yourself.
Becca, sounds like a yummy dinner ahead for you. Think we might have spaghetti tonight??? I have been busy with small projects this week. Secret Santa stuff.

Good afternoon!
One quilt top done - finally! The Sunflower is all put together ready for my LA. I put on the last border - the sunflowers and it had to be mitered. I can do miters, but kept putting it off, until this morning. Sarah was over as her internet is out at her house and has been off and on for more than a month. The internet provider tried a patch fix job, but they needed to replace the broken piece of equipment.
Aaron and Kate and the girls are leaving for a trip to San Diego on Wednesday morning. It is a gift from Kate's parents for Kate's graduation. The parents and two of her sisters are going too. They are staying near the beach in San Diego for a week. No one sews, so they will miss the best part of being in San Diego - near QIAD! LOL!
No idea on dinner tonight but the freezer stocked full and so is the pantry. We won't starve - maybe we should and lose a few pounds!
On to my new tote bag. That was the whole reason that I needed to get the borders on the quilt - Sarah wanted the leftover fabric, including the border of sunflowers to make herself a tote from our new pattern. the quilt is on the design wall and if someone will straighten up and make it nice, then we can take a picture.
It rained a bit this morning, enough to wash the smoke out of the air. I can see the mountains again across the valley. About 20 miles of visability.
Sarah is back with lunch -
Enjoy!

Jana, I can't wait to see the sunflower quilt. I am also interested to see how the tote pattern uses the border fabric. There are some neat ways to do things out there.
Vel I love spaghetti! DH has a thing about long noodles. He says they are too messy. I cut his into 2 inch pieces, but he still makes faces. I tell him his OCD is coming out.

Becca, your recovery is going too long. It has to be aggravating. It may be time for a hand specialist or OT, or something. Also, it needs to be tractable back to the injury, so you can bill the dog owner. As a side note, my BIL swears by the healing effects of turmeric. It is an antioxidant, so getting a little extra wouldn't hurt anything.

Tina, I am sorry about your sciatica. It is hard to sleep, when you are aching. It is hard to know how much exercise helps, and what will irritate it. I hope you get better sleep, tonight.
Mary, personally I like the term dog-laws. It's always neat when you have one of those it's a small world moments. Those lotto blocks add up, and then you have to do something.

I am waiting to hear whether the MRU doc accepted Bob into the program, or whether he will go to regular rehab. The difference is three hours a day of rehab versus one hour. We just don't know if he can tolerate the MRU.
Supper today is a cheater mac n cheese sticks and tater tots. I am cutting up a pineapple and making some raita.
