SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Aug 11

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Aug 11, 2018 12:01 am

Good morning,

Actually, it's still night. Having a bout of insomnia so I was rude and disturbed 'the kids', got out of bed, and came upstairs for some Sleepytime Tea. and here I am.

Yesterday I got binding on the last of the trio of Christmas quilts. Two will be birthday gifts and one will be a Christmas gift. I'm READY! Then I got a call that my only cousin passed away on Wed. She was 70 and in extremely poor health so I wasn't surprised. And we were never close. Then Bill went to visit his brother and found that he is now mostly unresponsive, but says he is certain that Mike can hear him. He had time to spend with him alone and said all the things he wanted to say. Then he called his sister and told her he didn't think she should wait until Sunday to visit, as she'd planned, so she'll be making the trip today I think.

BECCA - I hope the move/don't move dilemma works itself out for you soon in the best possible way. Things usually do in time if you let them.

CHICKIE - sounds like your life is literally going to the dogs! How much time a day do you spend on them? and how long is that in dog hours? lol! I hope your truck is fixed for good and Doyal's is something simple. the main thing is - you got fabric!!

JANA - I remember that storm you had while still in CA. Your angels were working OT that time! Ethan is such a good eater. My older DD would NEVER eat peas and now, at age 46, she will won't. I love them.

PAM - did your DB suffer an injury or ?? I hope things turn around for him soon.

I am popping a pork roast into the crockpot today. I'm going to brown it first. Then I'll make a sauce of onion, garlic, whole cranberry sauce, a few hot pepper flakes, and maybe some white wine. Then pour it over the roast and let it smell up the house. The sauce is great with white rice. Green beans and ice cream will finish the meal. I wanted to be ready with an easy to fix, yet company worthy meal in case Bill's sis and DBIL stop by or decide to spend the night in our trailer again.

have you got a plan yet?

Mary, my brother has a long history of back problems. He was in a car accident while in the Army. Then he had to jump or loose jump status, so of course he jumped. That created the first round of problemns. Years later, he fell off a cement truck and did his back in, again. Since then, he has had seven or eight surgeries on his back and neck. He is in constant pain. One of the more recent surgeries was 14 levels. He keeps hoping the next surgery will fix things, but I think they make it worse. He uses a wheelchair for long distances. He is only 47, but he is so old, now. He is really worried, because after this surgery, he is having trouble picking up his legs. He has had numbness in various places for years, now. I hate back surgeries. Once you get started, everything goes like dominoes.

I don't know what supper may bring, so I will tell you about lunch. We had spring greens with grape tomatoes, radishes, orage segments, peanuts, and pumpkin seeds. oh, and baby carrots. Can you believe it? No cucumbers. I had catalina dressing, on mine. Don't worry, I will snack on cucumbers.

Snowmen are being put off untill after we visit my brother. Mom is taking him a fan, as he is complaining of the heat, there.

Have a great day, everybody!
Love,
Pam

Hello everyone, sunny here & hoping it stays to dry us out.Still have chain saws going & lots of clean up from storm in Neighborhood.
There was a big tree limb that had fell across mroad when I went for walk.

Pam How sad about your DB.I agree about back surgeries. My DH Too lives in constant pain because of his but he hasn’t had surgery. They Wont Do it due to his strokes.

Maryz Seems like there’s not a break at your place either.Just hope Vicky stays on her property.A roast is always a good thing to have on hand for a crowd.Used to be my go to for company. You only need a green & rice & good to go.
Guess we will know when the time is right. CA Just isn’t in a frame of mind to make that decision now so I’ll sit tight.

Chickie Those doggies sure keep you on the go.You need to set up a business.lol

Jana Sure you will missStu but they do look forward to going back I think.Termite will keep you entertained.

Going to sit on porch if the saws stop. Not good company.
We neither one want to eat so it will be lite.May be Breakfast. Becca

Surprise, surprise, she's back, I think.....
Let's just say, it's been a long couple of weeks and hopefully, the next will be better....

Mary, so sad to hear about Bill's brother and he's right when he says, they hear you...That last couple of days with Jim, even during the night before he passed, I talked and he would move his mouth like he wanted to answer or squeeze my hand a little harder...I knew he was with me right up until the end....And one thing, I'll never forget was Kathy singing the ND fight song the night before he passed and of course telling him about Cari's upcoming baby and the big squeeze he gave her.....But, no matter, it's so sad and it seems you never have enough time to tell them all you want...But, I sit here every evening and tell Jim what's happening and how I miss him....I really like your dinner menu, sounds delish!

Becca, we're not having real warm weather, just very, very pleasant...Sure hope you can block out the saws and enjoy your swing....

Pam, I really hate to hear about people having back problems...As they say, if your back hurts, it messes up the whole body...Your brother is much too young to be going what he's going through....And your lunch sounded yummy.....

Not much happening in this household...I'm just starting to be able to eat and even that is trial and error (and I sure don't like the error)....One thing for sure, if things don't change, I'll be needing a new wardrobe, lol....
But, I did have a super couple of days...Kathy was working in Minn. and had the weekend off so she flew in last Friday night, Sat. we went to Cari's for her Pregger Kegger and then came home on Sunday and back to the airport and Minn...It was so nice to spend time with Cari and her DH and of course the rest of the family..Cari looks like she's carrying a bowling ball and I couldn't keep my hands off that ball...Little "Lena Rose" is going to be the best dressed little girl around.....
This past week, Nick was here a lot...He had a friend fly up from N.C. to visit and they did all the touristy stuff and then left yesterday to go back to N.C. and Nick starts school soon.....

As for my dinner, I whipped up a batch of strawberry jello...If nothing else, it will be jello......

You all have a great rest of the day.............

Happy eating..............

God afternoon!

Home from getting the newspaper and finished straightening up the house. Michael ran my new hack idea around the baseboards to get rid of all the dust there. I attached a terrycloth dishtowel over the bristle end of my broom and secured it. Then just wet the bottom edge and run it across the top of the baseboards, scrubbing back and forth - voile - clean! Didn't take ling - except for tge phone call from Termite - he just had to check in on Grandma.

Dinner - leftover sandwich from last night. I started with a split in half chicken breast and could have use just that one half for both our sandwiches. So we have leftovers. I am also starting a pot of turkey soup for noodles. My new grocery store opened up yesterday, and had some turkey legs and thighs so I can make soup. Now I don't have to drive halfway across the valley to get to this grocery store. It is just down the road a bit.

Mary - beter watch out for the hex Vicky put on you! LOL! So sad tk see and know you have tried hard to help. But she does make things interesting to say the least.

Pam - back problens are the pits! Hope that he can keep his mobility.

Becca - we hear chain saws here in the neighborhood and winder what the heck they are cutting up or down. Remember I live in a new neughborhood in a desert climate - not alot of trees here yet. The trees that we planted are still small for the most part and we can trim them with pruning shears or loopers.

Well, time to get in trouble in the Batt Cave,

Enjoy,
Jana
