SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Aug 4

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Aug 04, 2018 2:26 am

Good morning!

It's sure dark in the mornings now! I think we've lost a good 45 minutes of daylight at this end of the day. Dog is on his own out there! I don't do dark.

Bill finished the anniversary quilt. Yay, Bill!! I hope to get binding on it today. I picked blackberries yesterday morning on my walk and came home to make jam. Discovered I had no pectin so off to the store I went. Of course, I had a list on the fridge so I ended up grocery shopping. Then to the post office to mail lotto blocks to Teresa. Noticed I had no gas so off to the station I went. and to UPS to pick up my mail, and then to ACE to grab a couple of small coupon items to put away for Bill's Xmas stocking. And the bank. I hadn't expected to do a big errand run. When I came back I still had to make jam and then clean the kitchen. I had a couple of hours to sew before supper. Busy day!

Bill's brother is still hanging on. He was dressed and up in a chair yesterday.

Today is laundry, including sheets. I love sheets dried on the line and today will be a good day for that. I'm also going to do a lot of cleaning. Time to shake up the spiders.

PAM - round meaty things on a stick?? I'd rather eat the stick!! gaackk!!

CHICKIE - to be clear, I don't sew constantly for 8 hours. I take lots of breaks - lunch, walk around outside, shower, run an errand, read a chapter, call my sister. My hiney and my brain need breaks! lol! I bet your mind is busy, swirling all sorts of possibilities around. Maybe when your fabric comes, YOU'LL be sewing for 8 hours a day!

BECCA - Ahhh,, nothing like a new mattress! I hope your DH is recovering from his fall.

JANA - how you feeling today?

IRISH - Glad to hear that under the circumstances, your DBIL is doing OK. Keep talking to him, or reading, or singing, or telling him jokes. You just never know - he might be more alert than he appears. You're right - you just never know from one day to the next what life is going to hand you. Some of it's punches can send you reeling. But you just gotta get up and have another 'go' at it.

LINDA - I hope the smoke is dissipating some for you.

Tonite we'll be having leftover spaghetti. And I think some saute'd veggies - broccoli, carrots, onion, celery. You know, we visited a distant cousin once in MN and a side dish she served was boiled celery, cut into 1" slices. I always think of celery as a soup or dressing ingredient, or seasoning. I add it to stirfry, too. But that was the only time I ever had it as a stand alone side dish. Is it a regional thing? have any of you had celery like that?

Hello everyone, sunny here with Part clouds. No rain so far.Yipee.

Been a laid back day here after a busy week.I feel the need for one.

Maryz Yeh for Bill doing the quilt .We never had any doubt.I am glad to know it wasn’t 8 straight hrs.I do more if I can take breaks. My back starts screaming if I sit too long.
DH isn’t good at all.Sure the fall never helped.Shook him up he said.Plus his cuts & scraps. And his appetite is zilt. His BP is up to 90 today.
On celery I love celery sticks but sure never heard of it as a veggie dish only in soups, stews ,salads .Would need a lot of help I would think. Its mostly water.

Jana Today is the train ride day I think.Have fun & Happy Birthday to Michael.

Irish Its tough on a man to lose a limb. The Dr told me when C.A. had his 1st stroke that a man cannot deal with it as well as a woman. I agree.Like Maryz said you never know from one minute to the next what life will bring.I found that out with dog bite. But I already knew it.lol

Pam Sure you are enjoying your time off.

Chickie Today is your fun day & visit with Mom.She is amazing for her age to be so well.

Denise called yesterday .Talked over an hr.She has osteoporosis in her spine & hip.I really hated to hear it.Shes been doing everything to try to help herself.Even joined a gym which for her is really extreme.Mark has always exercised but not her.Started on Med.When I was talking to DD the hummers were having a battle .I told her why couldn’t they just eat & not fight. She said just like people. So true.I have a lot more now than I did.love watching them.

May call my BFF to go for walk.
DH only wants soup again with cheese & crackers.I have leftovers. Becca

Feeling slightly better today. We have got to stop eating out! At least if I am goung to me sick, I did it! So many restuarants are getting bad health code violations here in the valley. You never learn of them until after it is too late. Sorry for my rant. One good thing, so far I have lost 5 pounds! Ih yes, Michael is relearning how to cook, LOL!

Monday is the train surprise for Michael, so I have to be better. The girls are bringing cupcakes to eat on the ride for his birthday cake.

I will be better! My new mantra!

Enjoy,
Jana

I almost forgot you guys.

DH and I went on a quilt shop trek, today. We drove around the countryside and hit three different quilt shops. They were ones from the shop hop Mom and I went on with the bus. I haven't fessed up over in BOM, yet, but I didn't plan well. I didn't get enough black for all my backgrounds on the snow men. I have the fabric I used for my sample mostly cut out for the paperpieced parts, but not enough for the frame around them. It wouldn't look right to mix and match. I tried to find the fabric. I texted pics of the fabric to all but one of the shops we went to, and nobody will own up to having the fabric. We went to the other shop, as well as two of the ones who said they didn't have it. They weren't lying. Nobody had it. So, I gave up and got a different fabric. The first one was prettier.

After our travels, DH and I took our Aunt and Uncle to our company picnic at a local tiny amusement park. We had chicken BBQ for a late lunch.. I had cucumbers for dinner, later. This evening I wanted more. So I doctored up some ramen noodles with mixed forbidden food and fresh basil. Daphne doggie and I went out in the dark to pick it.

Becca, it's nice to have a relaxing day, once in a while. You do a lot of walking. It's really good for you. It keeps you in the moment and opens your mind.

Maryz, I love you. I am so sorry I stretch your rules. I never realized how often, until I started here!

Jana, I hope you ate feeling better by Monday. It is scary what goes on in some restaurants. A friend was a health inspector. He wouldn't eat at buffets - only where they cooked your food to order.

Irish. I hope you have lots of fun in your upcoming travels. It makes up a little for what you missed.

Carole, I am thinking about Luke and hope he has some of his wiggle back.

Well, I better sign off while it's still today.
Love,
Pam
