SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, July 25th
Good morning!
Any mistakes in this post are Foxy's, not mine! Ever since he moved up to head cat status, he's been forcing his way onto my lap every morning - something that Riley always did. And he walked across my keyboard and deleted some of my post and moved other parts into different paragraphs. I did't know you could even do that!
I have all the doors and windows open to get the cool air in and will close them all up by 10:00am and pull blinds and shades. Keeps the house pretty cool that way.
Yesterday I got my crown and was home by 8:20am. Mouth is still a bit sore and sensitive, more from the novacaine shots than anything, I think. Then I cleaned the whole house - not spring cleaning type, of course, but simple dusting, vac'g, and sweeping. Plus two bathrooms. I put binding on the first of those three Christmas quilts I made last spring. Two are still waiting to be quilted. Then I worked on my new quilt. Time consuming. I have four blocks finished and one more cut out. I'm making 2 each of 21 different fabrics, so cutting is pretty individual. I hope to make more progress on it today. We are getting gravel delivered and spread down our driveway today so, while it's interesting to watch, it shouldn't slow me down much.
IRISH - I think maybe your niece should have her dad move into HER house and SHE be the caretaker for a few days. That may change her attitude. She seems to be in denial of his condition. I do hope your sister's common sense prevails. Her DD is only adding to the emotional load your poor sis is already carrying. I just want to give Sis a big hug!! Do you like how your trees turned out? Being a logger's daughter and often going into the woods with my dad, I'm always happy to see trees NOT be cut down!
BECCA - a new mattress! I hope it fixes up your back problems! And Pam gave you some good advice about your hand.
LINDA - your are too hot and smokey for anyone! And that jasmine sounds like something from a scary movie! As for your catty-wampus panel - this is where Foxy got involved in my post. Anyway, have you tried pulling on it from opposing corners to straighten it? Also, you could get it wet, pin it straight and let it dry. Sometimes you can use a steam iron to straighten fabric. And, after trying all of that it should be enough straighter to be able to cut it on the straight of the grain, sew on your blocks and that might straighten it more, and quilting will help even more. Good luck!
TINA - Glad Holly got her A/C fixed, but is her car broken, too, that you had to drive her? Or were you just along for the ride? Cars are air conditioned. . . ;o) Have you seen your mom's SBS blocks yet that your dad found?
CHICKIE - ouch!! Ingrown toenails! When my younger sis was only about 10 she had one and had to have our very incompetant only-doctor-in-town surgically remove it in his office. I still feel bad for her! Hope Doyal's is OK. Oh, I'd love a 1920's house to renovate! It's not on Bill's list of wishes, though! lol!
PAM - love all your fresh goodies you have for your suppers!
I didn't have any leftovers from Italian dinner last night, though Bill does. So - he can have his and I can have salad with some chicken cut up into it. No real cooking here.
If you are hot and have to cook, think crockpot, taking your toaster oven outside, or grills. I'm not firing up my stove for anything and we're not even as warm as most of you.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, July 25th
Good morning! Yoga practice… Done. Shower... Done. Floors… Done. Dogs fed and watered… done. Humming birds… done. Today will be walking Ava. My sister is bringing her 5 year old grandson (and Preacher’s Kid, youngest of 4 siblings… need further description?) out to the farm this afternoon. He’s spending the week with Memaw and Papa, and needs some activities. We will go out in the 4-wheeler and check the cows and maybe feed Timi if we can get her alone. At least he can get his picture taken with some… if he stands still long enough! From what I hear, he’s a handful. I haven’t seen him in several months, so I know he has changed.
Mary—funny how our pets move into the vacated positions. I was talking about the Hooligans yesterday, and each has his/her own rank and personality. They are so funny. Yes, my fingers have moved/deleted/changed text… aaarugh! You are so busy and productive!!! I need lessons!!!
The kids have renovated every house they have owned since they got married and one DSIL owned before they were married. They went to St. Louis on weekends and worked on it before they sold it. I’m not sure I’d like to live in a constant state of construction, then sell when it was finished, but it has worked for them. This last house was more than they bargained for, and it’s going super slowly.
Pam—that sounds hot for you! I love tomato sandwiches… make mine “real” mayo and maybe a big slice of sweet onion. What a buy on avocados! I always add fruit fresh to my guacamole to keep it from turning brown. You have a wonderful selection of fruits and vegetables. Yum!!! I’m going to get some more tomatoes today. DS’s cherry tomatoes are sweet and like eating candy. I can snack on them all day!
Becca—enjoy that new mattress! Your DH is thoughtful, too!
Irish—the Hooligans seem to like to stay up at night and sleep in when I’m getting up. We’ve had a neighbor’s (a mile away) dog here, and they don’t like it and create a ruckus much of the night. I feel so badly for your sister with your niece bullying her about your DBIL. I know how hard it was for me to do the care, and I bet I was younger than your sis now. I hope she will make sure she gets help. Hospice and their home health people were my lifesavers. This is a hard year here for gardens. DS waters his, but it’s not as nice as usual. Sorry Jim missed his birthday treats with Grandma! My grandma would make me a cake—burnt sugar! She made awesome burnt sugar and coconut cakes. I’ve never had better of either. I’m sure hoping it rains for DD’s birthday!!! A toad strangler would be welcome! Welcome to your sewing mojo!!! It’s good to have it back! Have I missed your check up on your tummy troubles? Hey, chicken is good! And chips!!! (see below…)
Linda—did I miss your birthday, too? I missed Pam’s and wished her belated greetings. Same to you! Work those birthdays into week(s) long celebrations! We deserve it! My dad went at 60, but we’re planning Mom’s 100th birthday party for November. I need to look up that Asian Jasmine. It sounds evil. I hate when panels are like that. I stretch and steam. If all else fails, cut to where you can work with it, then frame it to fit size needed and add your blocks around it.
Jana—hope you found Sarah’s garden’s bounty! I love summer food!
UPS just brought two big bags of dog food. I decided to let my fingers do the walking/lugging instead of throwing 50 pound sacks of dog food in the cart, into my truck, and unloading at home. This is great!!! And, IRISH, he’s wearing his little brown shorts! I always think of you!!!
Dinner here… pretty much the same as it’s been… I stopped and got some fried chicken yesterday for DH, and he really liked it. He’d mentioned it a day or two before. I think he has some left. I will be having garden produce.
Bon appétit!

Good morning - still for a mi ute or two more!
Just got home from a Costco milk run. The milk is fresher and so we get it there. Some milk we get at the local grocery store has turned sour on me in less than three days. Also found a new shirt for Michael. I am in the slow process of resizing his wardrobe. XL shirts swim on him now, so I need to get him just a large. He is very picky about patterns and every shirt, no matter what has to have a pocket! Don't even look twice if there is no pocket. That trait has been passed onto Stu - he is just the same way.
Dinner - chicken rice cassarole - simple recipe, chicken, celery, water chestnuts, mayo, cream of chicken soup and a splash of lemon juice. Topped with rice krispies. One of Michael's favorites.
Mary - my kitties always had a pecking order - who's lap and where they could walk. The most territorial of anyone was my Buster -dark gray with 4 white paws and tummy. He was Daniel's cat and ruled the roost over Perry. Buster had a attitude too - if you made him mad, Buster would lie in wait around a corner and jump out to get you. He was a hoot!
Becca - oooh a comfy new mattress. I so need one of tbose too. Aug can't get here soon enough!
Chickie - all done with your uglies! Proud of you! We are waiting for Stu to get here and move the furniture so we can get back to normal.
Well, need to run the vacuum over the area we washed yesterday to de- crunchify the carpet. It softens up the pile again. I have light beige carpet again, not swamp water brown! LOL!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, July 25th
My niece came back up from Florida! Her mom was married to my brother in 1999. There are 4 kids, and none of their birth fathers were in their lives. In 2006, their Mom and my brother split up. Susan moved all the kids back to Florida. She told the kids Bob and the rest of us wanted nothing more to do with them, and they were gullible or loyal enough to believe her. Susan didn't give them the letters he wrote or the presents that were sent. They were mostly in their late teens, and old enough to know better. Well, Susan passed away, last year. My niece moved back up here a couple months ago, and just worked up the nerve to contact us. My brother had found my nephew on facebook, last fall, and tried to contact him, but he didn't write back. Courtney has met Bob's new wife, and spent the day with her grandparents, today. DH and I went over and we all had dinner. It was great to see her, again. She is now 32! And she got a new kidney, so she is off dialysis!
Dinner was pork roast with onions and carrots and potatoes. And Dad did hamburgers for those of us that don't eat roast (DH). And, we had strawberry shortcake for dessert. And we sat and talked and talked.
We saw pictures of my niece who is disabled at her group home. She is 38, now. We heard about how my two nephews are doing. One is doing great, and one is dealing with the consequences of bad decisions. We kept coming up with stories to tell Courtney about the time she missed.
