SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, July 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jul 17, 2018 3:45 am

Good morning!

You know, it's almost boring here. The yard work is done, the housework is done (weeeelll, I guess I COULD do a few other things if I really wanted...), and the laundry is done. And it's too hot to bake. Vicki hasn't been bothering us (except watching us closely from her deck). So - boring! I played for several hours with That Gypsy Woman. Making progress. An interesting pattern to say the least!

PAM - happy belated birthday!! I'm sorry, I forgot it was Monday, when you told us it was your birthday! I hope you had a special, enjoyable day for your 50th! You watch TV in a T-storm? Here, we unplug all electronics. We've lost one TV from a power surge during a storm. Actually, when the power came back on. We have surge protectors on everything now, but Bill won't take a chance anymore. Now we read or play games during storms. Not that we get very many storms like that in the PNW.

CHICKIE - with the heat you are having, next year, you'll have to start all over with your yard! :( How is Pocket Lint? and the other babies?

TINA - hooray for sewing! I bet your machine forgot who you were!

BECCA - A second opinion is never a bad thing! What did the doc say about your hand? How is it doing?

JANA - my parents would have been married 84 years on May 27. Her name was Marie but she named her oldest DD June. And her favorite flower was also lilacs. Also sweet peas. As are mine. Both so sweet smelling!

LINDA - I can't believe that you have two different jasmines in your yard, growing amock, and I couldn't keep one single plant alive in a pot, babying it along. You have a green thumb for sure. Mine is as brown as they come!

Supper - I think we'll grill chicken or pork chops - whichever I find in the freezer first. Mashed potatoes, asparagus, and salad. There will be enough to share if any of you wants to stop by!

Good morning! We had almost 0.4” of rain last evening. I was walking to get Choc settled for the night, and it started sprinkling. I just kept walking since the thunder was distant and there was no lightning. Actually, it was a lovely walk in the sprinkles. By the time I returned home (1.8 miles), I was damp, but not soaked.

This morning, the Hooligans and I walked to let Choc out. It was not a pleasant walk… 78 degrees and 96% humidity! I was wetter than last night when I got home!

I just heard something suspicious, looked out, and we are having a little shower that was NOT in the forecast today! Yaaay! We will take all we can get!

Mary—you are right about my yard! It’s a mess. Between DH spraying bug killer on my hostas (not for plants!!!), then the calves all last summer, and now the heat… not much yard left… except for weeds!

DH is home for brunch, so I need to stop and tend to him. Dinner tonight… I need to cook. TBA!

Bon appétit!

Good morning,

It seems like I am always missing from the table. So much going on here. Medical summary at the house of aches. Ken's back is really bothering him in one place. They think it is a nerve and he starts P.T. on Thursday for two to three months three times a week. If that doesn't work they will try shots. MY sweet Luke goes to the surgeon tomorrow to evaluate the fatty tumor. He may have the surgery the same day. Pls include my baby in your prayers, I am truly worried about this. Now my left leg and rear end. Lol all I will say is I am still having to stand. NO, I am not showing my hiney to the doctor lol. I do think that with the exercises that my daughter sent me it is getting a little better.

Today is my day to spend with our Prayer Shawl group at church. It is a group of ladies who knit or crochet shawls that are prayed on and blessed and given to anyone in need of prayers because of emotional stress, health issues, or any other reason.

Dinner will be left overs, I have a refrigerator full.

I am working on an embroidered heart quilt for another great niece's wedding. The largest block is driving me crazy. It is the pattern!!!! In the middle it will go off and do it's own thing. I have to go back and take section and redo it, Grrrrr. I have one more large block and then I can start to put it together.

Well I am off to church. Have a beautiful day.

Carole

Good morning y'all!

Not much here - thunderstorm last night dumped needed rain and was quite entertaining with all the lightning. No fires from that - but someone dropped a lit cigarette out a window, not far from me and started a grass fire. It was out within a hour - about 2 miles north of me. The fire department jumped on that fire quickly

Dinner will be the leftover from last might - they were yummy. Tomorrow I will have to come up with something new.

Michael's BD is coming up and it is a big one - he turns 70 in August. Sarah is checking out the tourist railroad as they have a caboose that you can rent out for a excursion trip. It is the Heber Creeper, so we are seeing on how much that will cost and have his cake and ice cream on the train. It will be a surprise, so I will just have to figure out how to get him up there - it is over the mountain, south of Park City. I can do that! I have a map - that is GPS on the car!

Ethan is up stairs in the office, drawing pictures as he wants to be where Grandpa is - Michael is working. So I am in the Batt Cave by myself - oh so quiet! LOL! Straightened up the sewing area and will now mess it up with this month's webinar block and finishing a couple of quilts. If I hold out, I might even make a couple of onesies. I have that pattern down to taking me less than a hour.

hugs to all

Pam - Happy Birthday late - sorry I forgot! Hope that it was a great day!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning :)
I did my walk this morning and then had to get all bathed and clean and smell good so I could go to the dentist. I have a little cavity, ugh I haven't had a cavity for 40 years! They also want to replace my crown but I told them I can't afford that right now. Frankie has a tooth that needs a crown plus he's got 2 cavities, they have to fill them all because we can't pay the copay for crowns right now. Oh well.
Mary, I wish my yard was done, as this rain had been awesome but it sure makes the grass and weeds grow! LOL but I'll take all we can get :) they said we're done with rain for awhile now anyways.
Chickie, I feel bad for you losing your yard and crops but happy you're getting some rain now.
Carole, I'm thinking it's your sciatic nerve, they're not fun....mine has been messed up for 5-6 years now from a finger bender....all because some guy was "having a bad day" ugh. I hope yours gets better quickly.
Becca, your hand has got to be hurting, so sorry. I'm on your side, they should do something about that dog!
Dad had his cataracts done on one of his eyes and it just dawned on me that I'll be taking him supper for a free nights. I think I'll make Mary's pork chops and oil do zucchini for sure, he'd rather eat thatthan anything else! I have applesauce too! Pork chops and applesauce LOL
I gotta scoot, its already lunch time and then I'll be in my sewing room.

Oh well, start over.

Thank you for the birthday greetings. It was a nice, relaxing evening. Thursday, we are going to the beer place for forbidden rings.

Tonight, Dan is stopping by his friend's to pick up some nice fresh mac n cheese. I think I will broil it, and serve it over begged noodles. The basil is perfect for picking. We will have sliced tomatoes with it, and either cherries or peaches for dessert.

Tomorrow, Dan is working a double. So, I am going over to Mom n Dad's for supper, and to work on my snowman. It is a Carol Doak, paper pieced pattern. It is 3", and I want to enlarge it to 8 or 9. I also want to cut it into the subunits, and then copy those for my multiples.

My family loves Carol Doak. Mom's first bed quilt she made was for our tenth anniversary. She used leftover fabric from when we made our bride's maids' dresses, and added to it. She entered it in our guild's next show, and all of the family went to the show to see it. She won viewers' choice. A couple years later, Carol Doak visitted our guild and taught. Mom was so excited, she was beside herself. It was awesome to see.

We have been lucky enough to have some awesome teachers in our area. Even El was at Quilting Around Chautauqua, a few years ago. Her sister Pat ( I think it is Nagle) comes to a neighboring guild every so often.

Have a great day!
love,
Pam
