SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 29

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue May 29, 2018 3:32 am

Good morning,

We are cooler and cloudier this morning, but still not too bad. Besides, who wants warmth and sunshine ALL the time?! Am I right??

I did get my Snowman quilt together yesterday. Whew! all three tops are complete. and this morning I found the purrfect flannel backings for each one - in my stash, of all places!! So today is going to be piecing them and making bindings. Also, the Santa quilt has 3-D mustaches that I will make, and handsew on after the quilting, along with button eyes. I will see if I can get some photos posted today.

After I finish with the backings and bindings, I plan to give the June Lotto blocks a try. The ticket-awarding process has been simplified which makes it a lot more attractive to me. And it's Civil War or 'pioneer' type fabrics, one of my favorites (along with every other type of fabric out there! lol!)

BECCA - how have you fared in the storm? I do pray you have no power loss. Do you have an emergency power source for your DH's O2?

CAROLE - what a roller coaster your meds have you on - 3# on, 3# off. But small price, I guess, if they work for you! Our friend, Lois, had RA, diagnosed at age 19 and bedridden at that time. That was about 1950. Then she lived in Hawaii for a year in the early 50's and said the moist warm climate really helped. I do play the double letter game. It's getting harder now and I admit I have to look up some words. Shhh . . . Don't tell on me!

JANA - your days are so busy lately - for your entire family! So nice of you to design patterns for the autistic boy, and then to help his mom make clothes for him! I don't suppose anyone in your family is interested in buying a Polaris RZR and the tote trailer that goes with it? I know Bill wants to sell ours - it's such a hassle getting it anyplace to ride it so we use it hardly ever. And it takes up so much room in our shop. It's a 2009 model but has many improvements we've added on . . . We'd make you a good deal . . ;o))

PAM - you sound like you're a newly-wed! How long have you been married? Your 'recipe' sounds tasty!

LINDA - sorry to hear you've been feeling punk. I hope that passes soon - maybe some homemade chicken soup will revitalize your energy bank. I'd put a request in with the chef.

IRISH - I know you had a full weekend with family. did you go car shopping?

TINA - rumor has it you've been playing in the dirt in your back yard.

CHICKIE - rentals? Poor Chickie! I hope you're at least getting to eat out and not having to cook after working so hard in the heat all day long. Though after working in those messes all day, cleaning up to go out is probably more work than it's worth.

BECKY - how is Erika?

Now, on to supper! I have mini meatloaves in the freezer. I'm thinking of pulling them out and I'll add potatoes and steamed "Power greens" I got at Costco.

Have you got a plan yet?

Good morning!

Mary - I will mention said toy to Matt - he is always mentioning that we should buy one, so he could "borrow" it. He is coming out today, as I am watching Baden and Emma, as it is Matt and Crenda's wedding anniversary. The olders will be in school.

I got the kitchen cleaned and even the floor mopped. Now to make it shiny, but with all my little ones coming , really don't want shiny footprints!

Dinner is still hiding in the freezer and I need fresh veggies, so a stir fry may be in order.

Sewing today, while playing with Ethan, Emma and Baden.

Enjoy!
Jana

Good morning from a warm, sunny (so far), SW. Pa...I keep hearing about threats of rain but, it's ok if it just stays away....I'm still trying to finish up the flower beds.....

Mary, I can't get over you being done with 3 tops....I'd still be in the thinking stage.....Yes, this was a "car buying" weekend....And I'm sure Bill will approve...I have a very pretty Venetian Red Subaru Crosstrek sitting in the garage...It was a hectic day on Sat., Cari came, Nick was here and the 2 of them went with me...Didn't realize it would take so long to just write out a check, lol...The funny thing, I mentioned to next door neighbor I was getting a new car and right away, she said, she wanted to buy my other one so today we're going to transfer the title...

But, what a weekend, it had to have been one of the best I've had in a long, long time....After we got the car, we had to celebrate so Cari called her brother and we met for dinner and then sat for at least 2 hours and the kids talked and talked...Then on Sunday, we all met again for breakfast and again, listening to the kids was wonderful...Monday, they all went to the Zoo and then Cari had to go home...But, having her here was wonderful...AND she does have a baby bump and that little baby girl is quite active....

so as you can see, I didn't do much but enjoy my grand kids all weekend and it was wonderful.....I kept thinking, Jim would have been thrilled to see them but then, I know he was here....

I haven't done any cooking for so long, not sure if I'll remember how to use the stove so might have to pick something up while I'm out.....

Just got the call and the neighbor is ready to go.....
You all have a great day....One of these days, I'll be back to chatting with all of you.....

Happy eating................

Good morning—for 10 more minutes here…

DH arrived from coffee early just after I finished my yoga practice. I thought we were going to mow three properties, but one of the coffee guys is going to mow one for us that is across the street from where he lives (bless him!!!). DH decided to go in and work there rather than go to town to do the mowing. (We may still go mow later today.) There is so much to do! I had a choice of going and starting working inside at this house or staying home… what do you think I chose? Duh!!! Yep, I’m going to head to my sewing room and quilt some more on the scrap quilt. It goes so slowly. I’m doing Baptist fan using my walking foot because I’m not good enough freehand for it.

Mary, you are right. After a day of sweat and work, it is more trouble to get around and go out to eat. Saturday night was just that. I’d taken a shower and put on not-to-be-seen-outside-privacy-of-my-own-home clothes and no make up or hair fixin. But, I did get up and change, put on make up and fix my hair, and we went out. It was nice for a change! I was really dreading cooking more than changing clothes. And, we had leftovers for another night, plus I still have some baked potato soup for my dinner tonight.

You are going great on your Christmas quilts! I need to see how to get in on your birthday group! Oh, wait! I’m not a nurse… but my next to be DGD-DIL just got her nursing hat and pin!

Carole—my body is on a 3 pounds on, 3 pounds off roller coaster all the time. It’s a job to keep taking off the 3 pounds! I empathize with you!!!

Pam—I like your beans and kielbasa recipe! Anything with beans is a keeper for me!

Jana—DH never wanted a side-by-side. Then Mary and Bill stopped by with theirs and rode our trails with us. Then we went to look at tractors. While DH was looking at tractors, I was trying out a side-by-side. I won and got the side-by-side which “we don’t need, I’ll never use it!” along with DH’s tractor. I NEVER see the side-by-side when I need it! DH uses it with a trailer for his wood cutting, uses it all over the farm for fixing fence, checking cows, etc. And, we still get to ride the trails. In our area, everyone has them now, and ride all over the country roads. Thankfully, the county keeps a blind eye most of the time. Not all of them are street legal. Today is my DD’s and DSIL’s 25th anniversary, too!

Irish—happy to see you, although I’m the one who has been absent. I LOVE RED VEHICLES!!! Who-hoo!!! I always wanted a little red imported sports car… got a ’73 VW Beetle… figured 3 out of 4 requirements wasn’t too bad. That began my love affair with red vehicles… mustang and my little red truck… Sounds like you had a super wonderful weekend!!! I vote for carry out! Save that stove and mess. Get enough for leftovers!

Becca—The rentals are going to be the bane of my existence for the foreseeable future. We have 2 houses open and half a duplex. The two in town are the garbage ones. We filled the dumpster to overflowing with the outside of one and the inside of the other. Still have the inside of the 3BR house! Gag!!! Everything needs work, repairs and deep cleaning. It will take most of the summer, I’m sure. See above… I love beans!

Linda—sure hope you are getting to feeling better! It’s no fun being sick!

Dinner tonight… I have some leftover steak for DH along with some asparagus. I have potato soup and salad. It will be easy cooking tonight!

Meanwhile… I’m in my sewing room! I have some laundry going and will hang it out, but I plan to SEW!!! (That is, unless DH returns early and wants to go mow in town.)

Bon appétit!

Hello ladies,
It is hot here today! Hope you don't have to go to town Miriam....especially with those dreaded things you have....
And Irish, look at you, cruising around town in a hot red car! Too cool.....I vote for take out too!
Becca, stay safe, that storm sounds as if it is a doozie....
Jana, enjoy the grands.
Mary, Ericka has a doc appointment on Thursday or Friday, I can't remember....She is leaning toward maybe her ulcer is acting up....could be, I think it does some when she and her dad are feuding. But, won't hurt to check it out....
Tonight, we are having burgers on the grill, and what ever sides they want with them......Easy peasy......
You all have a great evening....Becky

I made it through work, today. It keeps me hopping. Today, among other things, I configured most of my medicine records for June. It keeps me on my toes politely asking the group homes for scripts once or twice or more times. Lol.

I am thinking I may play in the dirt, this evening. I am turning over my one bed by the well. I will plant tomatoes on the side towards the road, and zucchini one the side side of the well. I have cucumbers started to plant. I need to find my one book. It's called Tomatoes Like Carrots. I don't think tomatoes and cucumbers like each other. I may need to dig up one of the areas I haven't used in a few years.

Dan and I have only been married for 24 years. Some days it feels like forever, and other days I can't believe how time has flown. I am nearing the time where I will have been with Dan more than half the time I've been alive.

I have a red SUV, and I love the color. You go, girl, Irish, with the red car.

I asked Mom where my bin of civil war fabrics are, for block lotto. They used to be under the side table in the diningroom. Mom says, no, that bin is in one of the two piles of plastic bins. I may have to rethink storing as much as I do at Moms. We still haven't found my rotary cutter we lost after Mother's day dinner. And we think my 12 1/2" square up ruler is around somewhere. lol.

Becca, the rain is good for the plants! We are watering the new plants, right now.

Chickie, mowing can get tedious. I used to do most of the mowing. A couple years ago, I got a new rider. Then, Dan started doing most of the mowing. More power to him. It is a big help, even if he doesn't touch gas cans. I am happy to keep the lawn mower filled, if he will use it.

Supper, tonight, was stuffed crust pizza hut with pepperoni and mushrooms. I had one of my friends order it off her phone, before I left work. My phone isn't smart enough to go online like that. I think it saved me $6 ordering online instead of by phone.
