SUPPER CLUB - Friday 27 April
Good morning! I’m early—no yoga practice today. DH should be back in a few from coffee (he’s more dependent on the coffee group than the postman is to deliver mail!) so we can go to his appointment for 2 weeks check up. We should get the go ahead for pureed foods. I gave him a Greek yogurt last night in anticipation. He’s really tired, and I know it’s from lack of nutrients. Of course, he has little interest in eating (unlike me). I plan to come home and make some custards (savory crustless quiche, and sweet using Splenda). I can do pumpkin pie filling (sweet with Splenda, or even savory if he will eat it) and get lots of vitamins. It will be a challenge to get nutrients into ½ cup portions and get him to eat more than one or two a day.
Irish—it’s so good to hear your voice again!!! Welcome home!!! We missed you—even the ketchup jokes… keep ‘em coming!!! I love it! Oh, the kitties at PetsMart will be happy to see you, too. I sleep with a 20# dog pressed against my side or my legs. So glad you are going to lunch with your friends—you will have lots of stories and catching up to do… or ketch(ing)up! I wanted to go to a quilt shop in Ft. Myers area, but it never happened… guys are so not into that!!! I was just along for the ride. I did see the wonderful gardens at the Edison/Firestone estates. You must go back and help finish that embroidered quilt!!! You can talk to Jim and tell him all about your trip, and I won’t think it strange at all!!!
Pam—so glad the mashed potato quiche was a hit! Now we will all be trying it. I’ll be making crustless quiches for DH.
Jana—the gardens sound so beautiful! I always think of quilts of flowers with the walk/driveways sashing. Let us know what trees you are getting so we can look them up!
Mary—where are you? I am always hesitant to start this, I know you are composing somewhere!
Need to get ready to grab a bite and go. There is road construction, and I’m not sure how long the delays will be.
Dinner for me—soup or some custard as for DH.
Have a great day! Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday 27 April
Good morning!
I'm here but slow this morning. I lingered too long in the Sew-in. Diane was asking for ideas on what to do with a panel. And I had a lot of them! I probably just confused her.
Yesterday I cleaned 2 flower beds, built a short rockery, helped Bill with an outdoor project, got a few hours in my sewing room, and made that soup from all the leftovers in the fridge. And added some hot-from-the-oven baking powder biscuits to the menu. Soup turned out great! Bill loves soup, but he's aware that most of my soups will never be repeated exactly the same.
today is chiropractor, maybe another flowerbed (only two more and the back yard will be finished!), and sewing. I should take one room and clean it GOOD. I should. But probably won't.
Today would be my brother, Jim's, 80th birthday. He's been gone now for 18 months. I still miss him every day. Also, Bill got news this morning that his brother is out of real options. No more chemo. I think he will just live the best he can at home until it's time to go to a hospice facility. He doesn't want his wife to have to live with the memory of his death in their home. So sad times coming up soon. Bill is one of four brothers and he will be the only one left. He does have his sister who lives 80 miles away.
BECCA - rhodies grow wild here, too, but the wild ones are all pink and all in the mountains. They are our state flower. I do love them and we have about 20 in our yard so one of them is always in bloom from end of March to end of June. Venison! haha!
CHICKIE - Yay for 'real' food! I bet Doyal can't wait! Speaking of the calves, how is everybody doing? You fell down the stairs in your prom dress?? Oh my! Even I'M not laughing at that, and I laugh at everything! My mom did that at school once, slid down an entire staircase on her tummy and landed at the feet of an entire class of boys. She didn't laugh either. Not for many, many years.
TINA - I have no idea what those new plants would look like? All I can picture is about 3 elephant trunks waving from the ground! Now I want apple dumplings. Guess I better get busy . . Though they don't sound like they are on my supposed diet. I DO have my annual physical coming up in about 6 weeks. Maybe I should wait on them . . .
PAM - I'm a quiche fan so I'm going to have to Google mashed potato quiche. I bet I'd like it!
JANA - I have an idea what those tulip fields look like as we have our Skagit Valley north of us and not far from where Sue lives now. STUNNING! I'm surprised they grow so well in your warmer, drier climate. Those master gardeners must know their stuff better than I do! What kind of trees did you like?
IRISH!! - welcome home!! Your trip sounds like just what you needed! What we all need, actually! I'd love to meet your friend. She must be a neat person. And oh my, you shared my shady reputation with her?? Well, I guess that's one more state I can never return to . .
) glad you have plans to return in the fall.
LINDA - what's the story at your house? Is your DH all settled into his playhouse yet? Er, I mean his MAN CAVE.
Supper: I never know what I'm going to say when I get to this final paragraph. I have to read it later to see what I said! haha! So - either tacos or grilled chicken with rice and spinach. (yes, still working on that one package of spinach.)

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday 27 April
Good morning from a slightly overcast but hopefully clouds will move out and Mr. Sun will appear....
Mary, there aren't many of my friends that haven't heard about you and the gals on this forum...I talk about all of you as if you were all neighbors...Hey, they even know who Bill is...AND when I then tell someone, I've never met any of you in person, they just can't believe it....Someday, when you find this old gal at your front door, that will be me...Someday!
Becca, I love, love to hear about your rhodies, would love to have them growing near me...Driving along the turnpike in the spring is a real treat....Your whole yard sounds great, really have that green thumb.....Not sure, but did I read where your DH has trigger finger? Yikes, not a fun thing.....
Chickie, 2 weeks seemed to go quickly but probably not to you or DH...Hoping for continued good results...I really admire DH for going this...I wish my DDIL would think about it....N. Ft. Myers has to be my all time favorite place (next to Ireland)...I've met so many super people and just feel so at home...AND "my" quilt shop is to die for...I am anxious to see and hear how my friend does with her quilt....
Jana, your excursion yesterday sounded like heaven...WOW, what a place!
Tina, you also with your planting...I've never heard of your new plants but they do sound super...I am always so excited when someone gives me plants and most of the time, I have no idea what they are...I'm trying to fill the empty lot next to the house with wild flowers but it's a battle between the deer and me but some do manage to grow.....
I have sort of a funny story to tell, one I'm almost embarrassed to mention...I've told you, Jim has belonged to the AOH (an Irish organization) and when he passed, they did come to the funeral home and have a small service and also, gave me a small check in stead of sending flowers...They also have a small death benefit and the fellow thought he had given me that check also but it was never found...So, he ended up sending me another check in the mail...Well, leaving for the airport, I picked up the mail, got to Florida, sorted the mail, check was there, put good mail in a pile, garbage mail in another and Gin said, she shred the garbage and guess what pile she picked up, Yep, check went in the shredder...I teased her and told her to put it back together, lol...But, I dreaded calling and asking them to wrote me another, thinking what kind of a ditz were they dealing with...Well, he did have a laugh and I told him, I'd pick it up tomorrow and go straight to the bank, no misplacing this one...I honestly think Jim has his fingers on that check, he's messing with my mind......I think I even dreamed about that darn check!
Today, is lunch with my gals, then later taking care of the cats/kittens at Petsmart and then picking up some groceries...It's going to be a good day.....
And speaking of "Good", our Penguins won the 1st game of the 2nd round last night...Of course I think I need to also need to refill my heart meds also.......
For dinner, just not sure, probably half of what I have for lunch.....
You all have a great day....Do something special....
Happy eating.................
Eagle update:
All our baby eagles near me are really growing and so fat...Won't be long before they start exercising those wings...They have turned from the fuzzy white to growing their grey feathers and trying to figure out how to use those clown feet...Still darn cute......

It is lukewarm, but sunny, here. I am checking the tablet, feeding the dogs, and then off to Mom's for some sewing. Not working on Lotto, yet, but thinking about it. I have some arrowhead blocks calling my name. Supper depends on what Mom and Dad are having. Dan is working a double. Have awesome days!

It's friday... and Mom didn't feel like cooking... Know what that means? Mac and Cheese!
