SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, March 27
My, the days are rolling by quickly! We're almost halfway through our little trip! We moved yesterday to our main park where we actually have reservations. It's pretty far removed from everything we wanted to see and do, but it was the only state park open right now. So many close down for winter. But it's certainly quiet here! We are in the middle of the high desert in central WA, but the park itself is filled with tall pines, oaks, poplars, and other trees and it's located on a large reservoir. One of Albert's favorite places for the fishing, back in their camping days. I'm e-mailing him some pictures. I think today we'll take a short run into the town about 20 miles away just to explore. and buy dry catfood, which I forgot to pack. We only have enough for a few more days. Those of you familiar with cats know life won't be worth living if we don't rectify that oversight!
Speaking of Albert, he is home and oh so tired. I e-mail him a few times a day. He is walking around the house and to the end of their 30-foot front path. It exhausts him, but he keeps at it, rests, and I hear he's eating well. His wife even made him chicken and dumplings his first night home, which is unusual as she rarely cooks anymore, but the kids warned her she needed to step up, that he can't be her caretaker right now.
Al's son, Jeff, had 4 hours of MRI's on Sunday in Seattle. And a doctor appt yesterday. They think his brain tumor is growing back, it's inoperable at this point, and they are talking radiation and chemo. So scary. I have 10 nephews. He is the sweetest of the bunch and, between you and me, my favorite. (parents can't have favorites, but no one said anything about aunts!)
We have an owl hooting at night outside our trailer. Scottie doesn't like owls. I probably don't have to tell you any more about our night! At least he keeps us safe from owls!
TINA - good to see you here! We've missed you! I think your dad is making good progress. The grieving process is different for everyone and it takes a long time. I don't believe we ever get over losing a loved one, but eventually learn to live anyway. Mike has been gone for 33 years but I think of him and miss him every single day. I did carve out a very happy life finally, but in my heart, he's still a big part of that life.
IRISH - I'm glad we have you 'along for the ride'! The early birds are singing! Can you hear them?? I think it's wonderful that you are going to FL to visit your friend! No reason to feel guilty (though I do understand why you feel that way). Fort Myers is where my DDIL grew up. Is your friend there year round or a winter resident? I have cousins in NY who wintered in central FL (Fruitland, I think) for many years until they got too old to travel anymore. Do you have a new little grand-eaglet yet?
BECCA - Good for your son! He is moving forward, making a new life for himself, too! There are all kinds of chili. That's why they have chili cook-offs - every pot is different. Some with meat, some without. Have you tried white chili? Made with chicken and white beans. Here, a baked potato bar isn't complete without chili to put over it. In fact, we ate at friends a few weeks ago and that was the main course. Along with all the other toppings that CHICKIE mentioned.
VELDA - try it! You just might like it! Are you hitting the road tomorrow? We learned a few years ago about a common dish in the south - poutine. French fries with gravy and cheese over them. We tried it, and it was good for a change of pace. Have you ever heart of, or tried that? And just this month I learned that chicken and waffles is on many southern menus. served together! Now, to me, that is a strange combo.
CHICKIE - as we traveled yesterday we went past a lot of pastures with black angus and saw several little calves cavorting around. I will never ever see a calf again without thinking of you!
I found leftover cooked noodles in the freezer. I think I'll mix them up with some sauce and cheese and bake it for tonite's supper. With some spinach and salad. Not sure if I'll saute the spinach in olive oil and garlic or toss some leaves into the salad. I'll see what Bill feels like having when the time comes. But we certainly won't go hungry. We never do when camping.
What's falling out of your freezer tonite?

Hi ladies,
Boy, time is sure flying here too! Always something going on.
Enjoy your time away Mary, sorry to hear about your nephew, will offer up prayers for him.
Irish, enjoy your vacation too Not a thing to feel guilty about, that is for sure. Use sunscreen!
Becca, glad your son is near by.....always good.
To all else, hi, and hope all is well in your neck of the woods...
Tonight, will be burgers and fries....Ericka will probably have another of her shakes. She doesn't eat much anyway, so we have plenty to make her if she decides she wants anything. I thought she was supposed to go back to the doc on Wednesday, but now, now sure.
Sometime this week....
Take care, Becky

Good afternoon!
Picked up little boy and he and Grandpa are playing - more like getting in trouble!
Michael's shoulder is slowly getting better - both shoulders have torn rotator cuffs - one responded quite well, the other is being very slow.
Sarah and Joseph will do the sheetrocking for us. As well as the taping. I taught her how to do that years ago and she and a friend did her entire basement when she lived in Smithfield.
Dinner - some kind of a soup - Spring looks like it is here outside, but step out the door and you remember it feels like winter! We are barely into the 40's for the high of the day.
Kate is still hanging in there - baby will be here no later than the 12th or 13th - so just a little over 2 more weeks at the most.
Enjoy!
