SUPPER CLUB - thursday, March 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Mar 15, 2018 2:57 am

Good morning!

Ah, the Ides of March . . . Beware, Julius Caesar!

Albert looked pretty good yesterday. His bowel finally woke up from it's long nap. And he took two hall walks and had a shower. Busy morning! He finally got some juice and jello for supper. He might be discharged by the weekend - to rehab or to home remains to be seen. He lives out in the sticks near Mt. Rainier so Home health visits might be difficult to arrange. and he needs someone. His neighbor and best friend, also an Albert, has had this same surgery so he will be a good support for our Al.

I got an hour or two in my sewing room yesterday! I sewed strips together for my bargello. I have to make 8 strip sets. Each set has 20 WOF strips. I have one made, 7 to go. But no real plans for the day today so maybe I'll get most of those strip sets completed.

Bill and my sister made supper last night - tacos. June cleaned up the kitchen and then they went out to the trailer by 8pm. Not sure what's going on, but I was happy to have a break from kitchen duties.

BECCA - I can't believe Sawyer is already showing an interest in such adult things as science and engineering. and sewing! Sewing is simply one kind of engineering, don't you think? I think he's coming to the right place to learn! The wedding sounds like it's going to be quite a big, beautiful deal! I love weddings! do you know what color dress you'd like to wear? Long or short?

BECKY - your wild and crazy nights sound a lot like ours! lol! We love meeting our friends for happy hour at the Mexican restaurant. We're home and in our jammies by 6pm!

JANA - hope you got through your storm OK. I always kept my babies in a bassinette (good word for the new word game!!) next to our bed for 3-4 months before moving them to a crib. And I really went through the mattress covers! I kept a soft flat cloth diaper across the top of the mattress to catch spit ups. Made quick clean-ups easy and saved a lot of the sheets (which were really receiving blankets in our house).

I saw Irish posted a note over in Projects from the Heart. Such a rough time for her.

Supper tonite is going to be pot roast. I think I'll make mashed potatoes, gravy, and carrots to go with. And we still have the last of the cake. No one is losing any weight here!

What's for supper at your house?

Good morning! Absent yesterday—road trip to Joplin for dental cleaning and consult. Then I stopped and visited a friend I used to sing with in choir. She and her DH are packing and getting ready for a move into assisted living on April 1. We had a good visit, and I’ll have more road trips to visit them.

Since I was on the road all day with Odie as my co-pilot, we went up to the corner for chicken fried steak (DH)/chicken (me). And, we have leftovers of both!!!

Today is another road trip for me—snatch and smash and bone density screenings. Since I can’t wear any metal in clothing, I have my yoga clothes on under my jeans and a bra in a bag along with deodorant. But, it’s over in time to have lunch with DD before returning home. I’m sure I’ll have three co-pilots or 2 co-pilots and the XO with me in my truck. The area behind the seats where the GKs sat is right size for Tinker Bell. She sits in the middle and looks out between the seats or she sits to the side and rests her head on my shoulder by the window.

Mary—I have several bargello patterns, and I so want to find time to make at least one. Good news about your DB! He does need care and support! How nice that you got a break from KP! You definitely deserve it!!! I know they are family, but they really should be helping, participating, contributing…

Becca—I think that Sawyer’s interest in sewing could help him in geometry and other math levels. I loved geometry more than any math.

Becky—I remember those science fair projects, history day projects, band concerts, parades, games… and all the running and doing with/for… hang in there!!!

Jana—what Mary says is how I cared for DD when she was tiny. I had a cradle instead of a bassinette. Between cloth diapers and all the little blankets, my washer was going all the time and the lines outside were full (no dryer). In winter I toted baskets full of wet laundry along with DD to the dryers at the Laundromat. (No, I remembered to put her in her seat on the table and not in the dryer!)

Irish—thinking of you!!! HUGS!!! Come have supper with us soon!

After the chilly weather, yesterday afternoon turned nice, and today will be 70 with wind warnings. Hopefully when we return, we can take a walk and get out and enjoy the sun! I have a comfort quilt up on the wall and would like to sew it together soon (need to press and square up blocks first).

Please keep my DD in your prayers. She is going through a bunch of medical tests with no good outcomes. Eventually she may be seeing a urologist and/or hematologist. She’s getting scared. I’m pretty concerned myself… to put it mildly. Thank you!!!

I’m going to finish my coffee then round up my Hooligans and see if they want to accompany me…

Bon appétit!

Morning all:

Thank you all who have sent your rain, snow and wind our way. It hasn't been consistent but enough for the past week to keep everything wet. Lots of snow in the mountains which is great!

Finally got the termite guy out to treat the house. We had done all the hard work of pulling the river rock away from the house and laying ground cloth over the trench site. The guy had to dig his treatment holes and drill holes in our cement decking in the back yard. He said it will take 21 days for the termites to take the poison to the nest and kill the queen. There is still evidence of new swarming in the garage every day. DH is settling down some over the whole thing. Between rain showers we have been putting the river rock back around the house, leaving the ground cloth under it this time. Keeps the weeds down.

I also put the cloth in the wells of the rose bushes because of that dang cat. Thought the problem was solved, but the cat actually pooped on top of the cloth. If he doesn't poop, he sprays something in the yard. Discovered the mocking birds are making another nest in one of our bushes again this year. Last year they got to hatchlings of 1 week old before the cat got them. We are about to go to the extreme of trapping this cat and removing him from the area. We have been fighting him for a year.

Yosemite is in our backyard and we used to go camping there for years. Then we got spoiled staying at the lodge for either Christmas or Thanksgiving. So we decided to try camping again. Well, reservations for 5 months ahead can only be made the 15th of every month starting at 7:00 am. For several years now we have the computer set up and ready to just hit the button at exactly 7:00. So we tried again this morning, both of us on 2 computers. Within seconds, everything was booked, and not us!!!! Again. How can that be, when we click the reservations the second it turns 7:00. DH thinks it has to be rigged.
We will try again next month.

Dinner tonight will be DH's homemade enchiladas (so delicious!) and a salad. I gladly clean up all the mess for his delicious food. Lucky me!

Prayers for those in need and hope Spring is in your air!

Good late afternoon!

It is still snowing here - last night the thunder storm was great!

We are late here as the Highlander needed to go and get a scheduled checkup at the dealer this morning. We were going to take two vehicles down and leave the car, but it was snowing, so we just stayed and waited. Not long! Then went and did some errands on that side of the valley.

Tonight is our class, so dinner is out -

Enjoy!
Jana
