SUPPER CLUB - Monday, March 12

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Mar 12, 2018 3:58 am

Good morning!

we've been having great weather! 68* yesterday and again today. WE did a lot of yard work and my DBIL had a great time running the tractor, hauling dead leaves and debris to our slash piles in the woods. Our place is looking pretty good now. But the weeds will be sprouting within the week, I'm sure. Then we sat outside around the campfire, enjoyed happy hour, then my SIL, Terry, who is visiting here from Las Vegas, came over and we all ate ham and beans around the fire. Nice day, nice evening. I even got a bit of time in my sewing room, cutting strips for my bargello.

Today is chiropractor, then to Seattle to visit Albert. Terry is going along. When we get back, we're all going to go to our little country cemetery to set Jim's headstone, headstone. Then, we're coming back here to grill hamburgers for supper. Hoping to find a few moments to do some more cutting in the sewing room.

BECCA - there are some wonderful hiking trails up near your DGS's home. I'm sure they had a fun day!

LINDA - you sound like you are really enjoying your new "cottage business" of refurbishing those Featherweights! It's really a skill. There is a man up here, about 60 miles north of us, named Dave, who is our resource person for mine. You are ingenious in your kitty prevention tactics in your flowerbed. My friend used river rock in her beds and sprinkled nasturtim seeds around the rocks and those flowers put on a brilliant show all summer long.

JANA - we almost cried when we saw Richard Sherman went to the Niners. He's my favorite Hawk! Insert sad face here. But for sure, the 'Niners will be looking better this year. You're welcome.

I think I'll make baked beans and jo-jo's in the oven to go with our grilled burgers tonite. It will be another campfire evening. My sis made a date with old school friends for Wednesday so they will be here through Thursday at least.

Have you got supper worked out yet at your house?

Good morning! So envious of 60s!!! We never got much above a 30s wind chill yesterday. Of course, it kept me inside to do laundry and cook. I made blackberry cobblers and took one in to town to Mom while it was still warm. My sister and BIL came by while I was there and took some home with them for dinner. Sister tasted and pronounced it super yummy. The Hooligans were happy for an outing and content to wait for me in the truck while I was inside.

I love the daylight savings time although I did tend to sleep in a bit today. I blame it on the dark overcast skies. I have dog duty today, so I’ll probably drive unless it warms up.

Saturday was a pretty nice day, and I spent a lot of time outside with the calves and a couple of cows including Timi giving them special treats and pets. Did I mention we have a new calf? It was born the day I mentioned we should be on baby watch. It’s the only one so far, but it’s healthy and I see it frolicking beside his momma cow.

Mary—I’m laughing reading about your campfire and eating beans around the fire… Shades of “Blazing Saddles”—never saw the whole thing, but the campfire scene is famous.

Linda—what a fun second career! It’s not work if you love what you do!

Last evening I had a craving for a hot dawg with sauerkraut. So, we had dawgs, oven fries, salad and cobbler. Tonight may be BBQ Beef on buns with some fries, salads and cobbler.

Have a wonderful day! Bon appétit!

Hello ladies,
I thought about Blazing Saddles too, with the campfire and beans. Glad your brother is doing better Miss Mary.
Chickie, my DH would love your cobbler, I am not a big fan of black berries, so unless he reminds me, I don't usually make that, but I do when he brings in a mess of them. He must not be all that crazy about them, he never brings in enough for the freezer. HA...but I do love peach cobbler. JR's mom made on on Saturday, SIGH....I will have to make one now. She used to be the best cook, but anymore, not so much.
Becca, I have to make notes for everything! And even then, sometimes forget one or two things.
Was a lazy, wet Sunday. Apparently Chickie wanted to share. I have a casserole of ham and scalloped potatoes ready to pop into the oven. So nice having an oven back! Will have the girls stick it in when they get off the school bus.
Have a great evening....Becky
