SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Feb 24th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Feb 24, 2018 3:09 am

Good morning,

I hope I get to finish my post before my crew shows up this morning. The signal that we're up and 'receiving' is to turn on our deck lights. And I haven't done that yet.

We didn't get home from Seattle yesterday until 7:15pm. Long day. I feel for poor Albert because his drive is about 45 minutes longer than ours, each direction. He's getting more nervous as his operation gets closer. Yesterday's appt was to have the operation explained to him and to learn how to use all the ostomy supplies. He son, Jeff, went along. Good thing. Al is hard of hearing, and seems even more so the past few weeks. His son, Jeff, was able to go along with us and he has good ears and was able to help Al understand everything.

Today I will be sorting all the blocks from the Valentine swap. My sis can't wait to see all these beautiful blocks, so she'll be right there, helping. I hope to get them into the return mail by Monday.

IRISH - you probably won't be reading this, but just in case, please know that our hearts are sending loving hugs to yours. We are so sorry about Jim, but what a long and wonderful life you and he had together! I know your family will be there, holding you up, through the next few days. God bless, my friend!

BECCA - you are having such beautiful weather! I bet you are really enjoying that. I'm sorry your DH is paying the price for it now, I'm betting he enjoyed being outside, too, doing some normal things. You asked about my nephew, Jeff, with the brain tumor. He is doing fair. He had a cold that lasted 3 weeks and it set him back some. His vertigo has returned and he has tingling in one arm. Part of the tumor was inoperable and is wrapped around his brain stem. Drs said that it is a type of tumor that doesn't grow back, but I'm not banking on that. But he was with us yesterday, supporting his dad, and a great comfort to Albert, I know. He is such a neat young man and he makes me proud to be his aunt. thanks for asking about him.

JANA - you are really getting hit with snow this year! More than usual? Seems you didn't mention this much last year. I bet Ethan is loving it! I'm glad Kate has a high-risk OB caring for her. I think Baby is calling all the shots here! Have you got that baby quilt started yet?

CHICKIE - I'm wishing you some sunshine soon. In fact, I wish me some, too! We've had snow off and on all week long! No real accumulation, but enough to stick around in shady places on the ground. We drove home from Seattle in falling snow last night, but I think it quit about the time we got home. Albert has a foot at his house, so I hope he got home OK after we dropped him off. He still had another hour of night driving to go. He lives in the foothills of Mt. Rainier. your placemats are awesome! Do you have the napkins done yet?

LINDA - glad you are getting out walking even if you have to bundle up. I hope your local crops survive your cold snap! Sounds like you have a fun quilting project and isn't it nice to be able to sit and sew without the guilt of any uglies hanging over your head! Hope you get the "seating" all worked out to your comfort!

VELDA - what state/town was that camper RBR pattern from? I collected so many of them and a few were vintage trailers, but I haven't sewn any yet. I did make the little 8-block quilt of vintage campers though. Turned out so cute and is out in our trailer now, across the back of the couch.

Last Thursday I invited my nephew, James (Jim's son) and his wife to dinner. She had to work so I asked them for Saturday. His answer was 'that might work'. But no further communication from them. So other than my sis and BIL, I don't know if I'm having company for dinner or not! And the stubborn streak in me is waiting for THEM to contact us as they are the ones that left us hanging. That entire family operates on a "no notice, spur of the moment, we'll tell you when we're ready" plan. (But I'm not stubborn. I prefer to be referred to as 'tenacious'.) However, I'll be making a supper that will feed them, too, if they show up. Hawaiian pork roast with rice, asparagus, salad, rolls, and blackberry pie. I was going to make it anyway, so this way all we'll have to do is add a leaf and two plates to the table.

I hope you all know who's coming to your house for supper!

Good morning ladies.
Mary, we have guest that show up all the time. Happened a little more when we lived in town, but still does occasionally. Throw another potato in the pot, what else do you do....Ha....
it is cold, rainy and yucky in general today. Maybe just a pot of soup of some kind. Something soft that JR can mash. The kids think mashed up green beans are gross. They mentioned that poppa may be reverting to his childhood. Well, that is about 30 years too late! Tomorrow, our oldest DGS turns 24. Wow, seems like yesterday that he was following around anyone that was doing something. They grow so fast. Jana, our little Brytt was born at 25 weeks. She is a healthy 18 year old now, prayers for Kate for sure.
Prayers for Irish and family.
Have a great day....Becky

Good morning!

Mary - we haven't gotten much snow all year, but this set of storms are trying to make up for it. We are to get another 6 - 8 inches tonight. Hopefully the young men in the Ward get the walks shoveled to get into church. They are very good about doing that.

Becca - it is good to hear about early babies and how well they are doing.

Becky - my oldest grandson is now 21 and at college - I am not old enough to have one that age! LOL My Sarah hates green beans in almost any form, me, I love them!

Don't have a clue about dinner - we will see later.

I am about to start the baby quilt for Lila. Sarah designed it on a piece of paper, with the finished size of each block. Now I need to do the finish math of each of the parts of the block and draw the flower petal applique. Not hard, just squares and rectangles. No triangles!

No further word on Kate, still hanging in there!

Enjoy!
Jana
