SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Jan 23rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jan 23, 2018 3:49 am

Good morning!

We finished painting! hooray! Now we have a brief break in the action while we wait for our wallpaper. Going to reframe some of the wall pictures, and jetison a few of them so I'm planning to stop at Michael's today to look at frames.

Our Scottie dog is sick. Vomiting all day yesterday and dry heaves through the night. Panting, off his food, frequent urination, lethargy, and hot nose. It looks like he has been eating some rotten food. We checked all of Vicki's yard on Sunday for garbage, but I think she knows now that we do that on Sunday morning when her kids take her out to breakfast, so I guess she saves everything to toss out into the yard on Monday. At least that's what we're guessing. What he's upchucking is nothing we gave him or anything we had in our garbage. So it's off to the vet this morning. I love our vet (I took care of one of her sons in the NICU almost 20 years ago) but I'd sure like to see her without having to pay $$$!

There was a 7.9 earthquake off Kodiak Island in Alaska and I guess we were under a tsunami watch this morning. We had no idea until a frantic friend texted me at 0600 asking if we were safe from the tsunami. I said, "Huh?" But watches and warnings are all cancelled now.

VELDA - sometimes when you lose your message you can hit CTRL and Z and it might come back. That works for me about 3/4 of the time. But I learned last week that all those lost messages go to Nevada!
Who knew?? lol!

JANA - There has been a lot of action in your neighborhood lately! haha! I've heard cops use that phrase, "don't make me chase you!" on Live PD and other cop shows! I sure would if I were an officer! Your talk will be inspired, I know.

IRISH - how was your lunch yesterday? If it matters, I like my meatloaf sandwiches with mustard, too. Bill uses mayo and ketchup, which I don't understand. Your poor family! How is your sister's hubby?? Sending some prayers his way.

CHICKIE - what a treat to get to see all those turkeys and deer! Will you warm up today? Sure hope so. Seems someone is always freezing somewhere lately! When I have to do a whole bunch of somethings, I tend to divide them into lots of 10. Not sure why, I just do and it tends to give me a better sense of satisfaction as I finish each little pile.

BECCA - I'm glad things with your Dh have improved enough so you can leave for a while.

I talked to Tina last night. She has been having phone issues so hasn't been receiving any messages. Not much work has been done on the trailer, I think because it's been so cold. She is babysitting the boys every day.

My brother, Al, heard from his doctor. He will have surgery, date yet to be announced. Doctor told him there will be a team of 20 people in the OR which will include 6 surgeons. (sounds like they are selling tickets!) He will have his bladder, urethra, and prostate removed, and maybe a kidney. He will come out of this with a permanent urostomy. He will still need another one or two trips to Seattle for pre-op labs, EKG, etc.

On to supper now - I think we'll have breakfast for supper. Eggs and hashbrowns and turkey sausage. I want no leftovers tonite as we'll be having a big meal tomorrow night with company here, and I know we'll have leftovers from that!

I hear there's leftover meatloaf at Irish's if you haven't got a plan yet.. .

Good morning! It was so much nicer this morning taking care of the calves—no wind and 27 degrees! We should go to the low 40s today. There’s no sun which I miss, but there is NO WIND and I don’t miss that!

I divide things up in small batches, too. Even when I was counting years to retirement… 5 groups of 4 each (a presidential term) seemed much more manageable than 20 years! I figured I could outlast a president as they came and went pretty quickly.

Mary—so, so sorry about Scottie! It’s sad he can’t go out on his own. You may have to start walking him on a leash to potty… so not fun! (Ava is on a leash, but she’s used to it. Choc and Maggie do not do leashes.) Vet bills mount up very quickly… as you know, I’m sure. Sounds like Al will be very well attended in the operating theater!

I do want to go to Irish’s for the meatloaf!!! However, dinner here will be leftover ham and beans. I talked myself into putting a pot in the oven yesterday. The dogs got the hambones last night and were quite happy. I made a big skillet of cornbread, and it will last until spring… really! I guess I should freeze some. I have no idea what I was thinking when I made so much. I only made a smallish pot of beans.

I need to put on my face and clean the floors. What a mess with the crazy weather! Yesterday Mother Nature threw it all at us—sleet, snow flurries, drizzle—all blowing sideways in sheets! I was out in it several times, and it was totally unpleasant! Today will be better! It has to be!!!

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Mary - a 7.9 earthquke, wonder if it it lifted the part of the island that sank the last time there was a huge quake in the 60's? That is a big quake! That is a huge team being assembled, but a good thing, nothing to be overlooked!

Chickie - I too end up cooking too much, so it does get popped in the freezer, comes in handy here!

Talk is on the computer. Saved, so it won't go poof. Now to polish it up and add a few more points in sections. I also need to time it, to stay with in my assigned time.

Michael has church meetings tonight, so dinner will be something easy when he gets home. No ideas yet.

Enjoy,
Jana

Hi ladies
So sorry about Mr Scottie. Oh gosh! I was just wondering the other day what was happening with the weird neighbor. Hope Scottie will be ok, soon.
I was on my phone when I lost that message. I accidentally hit my back button. Duh, just goofy, I guess.
Sure hope your brother does well with surgery.
I was thinking about Browning breakfast sausage, too for dinner and making gravy. In the service it was called shxx on a shingle. DH loves it on toast as much as bisquits.
We saw the earthquake info this morning. Glad they lifted all those warnings. It had to be quite scary.
Off to clubhouse again for sewing. The men had a pool tournament yesterday and it went well into the afternoon. It was so loud, we just went on home after about an hour or so. Not fun when you CAN'T even visit and hear each other, etc.

Hi all, thought I was here yesterday, gosh, wonder where I went?
Mary, hope Scottie is doing better. That is so sad about your neighbor, and Scottie too. Hope they can do something with her soon.
JR has an aunt that is almost to the point of having to put her in a home. I feel for the families that have to make those choices. Hope they get your brother's surgery all straightened around. That is crazy how long it takes to get set up.
Becca, hugs to you, hope you have better days ahead.
Chickie, maybe you should wait on the floors until all the crappy weather is done. My sister says that they got 10 inches. They are still out of school today. She was already going stir crazy yesterday, guess I won't call her tonight. LOL.
Jana, glad you are all but done on your talk. I am sure it will be great.
Vel, your quilt is simply beautiful. I can't remember if I told you or not.
Meatloaf sandwiches sound so good. I love mine with mustard too. Maybe we will have it this weekend. Tonight, DD said she would make scalloped potatoes when she gets home if I will make her some hamburgers with grilled peppers, onion and the melty cheese on them. Now, I am not sure which melty cheese that she is talking about, but will just use what we have and go from there. Ha....I know the kiddos will not want the peppers and onions, but they will eat them plain, with any kind of cheese I put on them. We will have a veggie and salad too. They will eat the veggies, (some of them will) but not the salad.....hope you have a great afternoon....Becky

Good late afternoon from a very now dreary, now very wet, SW. Pa...Yesterday was close to 70 and today is gotten cold and will be getting colder as the day goes on....I had wanted to be outside, trying to clean off the back porch but all I accomplished was throwing all the carpets in the washer.....

Oh Mary, I hate to hear about Scottie being sick..I too have been wondering about your neighbor, hoping things had quieted down..But, glad to hear the painting is done, big accomplishment! Wow, your brother is going to have a crowd at his "grand opening" isn't he? With that group, he really will be in the "best of hands"...Let's just get it scheduled and onto recovery..

Chickie, I really do wish you would send your wind and cold weather some where else...You know, you'd think after awhile, you might get used to it but this old body just aches more and more, lol...I will never, ever say it's too warm, that's for sure....Really wish you could come on over for some meat loaf, turned out extra good this time....

Becca, boy do I understand how you feel about things changing..You're certainly not alone....But, I, and you know also, one day at a time....We still have a lot to be thankful for.....Hang in there dear friend.....

Jana, I have a feeling you'd be happy with a quiet neighborhood again...There are times when I just want to lock the doors, close the drapes and keep the outside world just where it is, outside, lol...But, thank goodness that doesn't last too long...

My lunch yesterday was really nice, good friends and lots of laughs...We also found out, one of our gals, who goes to Florida for the winter has been seeing a fellow...She's been a widow for about 7 years and has said it would be nice to have someone to talk to....She's only in her late 60s so it's nice if she has a companion...My visit with Jim was very good...He looked so good and even talked, not much I understood but it was good...Of course at dinner, he ate very little but sure did love his Ensure...But, once again, I got that call...About 2:30 this morning he had gotten out of bed, was trying to walk down the hall and fell and hit his head on the wall...He did have a small cut but they were worried about brain bleed so off he went again...I think he likes these ambulance rides, lol...No stitches, nasty bruise and he was back in his bed about 8:00 this morning...So needless to say, this old body is really dragging today and probably won't accomplish too much...And I'm still waiting to hear from my sister about DBILs MRI but she told me last night, he had no weakness and feels he's OK...These men! And then to top it off, Cari's mother in law passed away from ovarian cancer.....But, one of these days, the sun will be out and everything will be OK.....

For my dinner, left over meatloaf and reheat a baked potato....So, if anyone wants meatloaf, you'd better get here fast....

And right now, it's nap time.....

You all have a good day

Happy eating................
