SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Jan 20th
Good chilly morning! It's 40* here, may go down to 39*, and won't warm up much throughout the day. But still, it IS January.
Long Day at the hospital yesterday. Al did well and while he was in his procedure we found a neat little cafe - definitely NOT a cafeteria! - attached to the hospital for lunch. And my niece had Al's wallet! Need I say more?? It was only about 100 feet from the outside door to the surgery waiting room and they serve wine! It's my new favorite hospital! ;o)
Al's oldest DD, Lisa, came with this time and it was good to spend the day with her. All the kids adore their dad, but their mom? - not so much. I guess I shouldn't call them 'kids'. They are all in their 50's and grandparents! Anyway, doctor said he would call on Monday with a game plan.
I have my sewing room a little torn apart so I could do some paint touch-ups on one wall. Seems I tend to gouge it frequently with my iron. So today, I'll be putting all my "pretties" back up on the wall and tidying up in there. We may wash walls downstairs in the room left to be painted, too. But mostly, I think we're going to veg out in front of the TV, watching football play-off games.
BECCA - good to hear you are warming up! I hope that was your last really cold snap this winter.
CHICKIE - your soup sounds tasty. I like to toss in whatever I can find to dishes like that. I call it Leftover Soup - for which there is never a recipe! I hope you didn't have to wait too long yesterday before getting some food! For me, it's not having that first cup of coffee in the morning that is hard. And I know many times you can have black coffee, but I need my Coffeemate!
IRISH - Has Jim been discharged from the hospital? I sure wish this trial wasn't in your life, but since it is, you sound like you and your family have such a good handle on it, hard as it is. I think you are right - what will more tests do for Jim except make him miserable. And with Hospice coming on board to help with care, it should make things much easier so you can just enjoy being in his company and let them handle everything else. And you are right - Hospice is so much more than end-of-life care, though many people don't understand that. God bless!
VELDA - We can regulate the stitches on our long arm to appear to be hand stitched. In fact, we were commissioned (there's a good double-letter word for the new word game!) to finish a quilt on our LA that a great-gramma had started by hand but never finished. You couldn't tell the hand stitching from the machine stitching. So I'm sure your quilt is going to be a masterpiece!
Supper. What to make. It might just be mac & cheese. I have some kielbasa and I may dice up some of that and add it in. My DMIL always put in diced ham (which I don't have on hand today) and made it for me on my birthday. Well, it's not my birthday, but I think we'll have it anyway.
What's the supper story at your house?

Hello everyone,Going to be a nice day here.Sunny with beautiful white puffy clouds in a perfect Carolina blue sky.And tomorrow is to be even warmer.Sounds great to me after our cold we had.
Yesterday’ The H Pump was fixed .Just hope it last.Have no confidence in it anymore.

Maryz I don’t expect that will be our last cold but time will tell.Janurary is usually your coldest month here.
Irish Glad You Have Hospice to help. They do many things. And happy you are making the best of your situation but what else do we expect from our Irish.Youre a trooper for sure.Hugs & Prayers for you my special friend.
Tina Hugs & Prayers for you dear one.Hoping the end is in sight.Thinking of you.
Chickie I know you’re on the trail too only you have your babies in tow with you.And today is Mom day.
Vel Hope the quilt is coming along nicely for you.
Jana Sure you’re busy with family time.
Becky Hello to you & hope Sat is restful for you .

Good morning!
The story at my house is snow and a police action! I am under a shelter in place. You bet that my house has been doubled checked to be sure all windows and doors are secured. Sarah's too. Aaron is a bit farther out from the search area. The suspect broke into a home, shot the homeowner and stole the car. Abandoned the car not to far away and the police are assuming the suspect is on foot. We have tons of outbuildings and barns, so lots of hiding places, which makes the search slow. The officers have the puppies out, aka K-9's, which would really love a bite! We are safe.
That's not all the fun - yesterday a car missed the turn up the road, crashed through a chain link fence, took out a power box and landed stuck between two trees. No serious injuries.
When it snows it pours - to misquote a old ad!
Oh yes, so far about 6 inches of snow and more falling.
Dinner - chicken and rice.
Mary - so glad everything is starting to fall in place. I did a quilt for my mom on which I used invisable thread in the ditch and hand quilted all the corners and triangles on a Star of Bethlehem by hand.
Becca - yeah! The heat pump is working again! I don't know if you should talk to it nicely or threaten it to keep running right!
Well, time to get a few uglies done, and check the news - Michael is watching the police website,
Enjoy, never a dull moment here!
Jana

Good still morning here.
You ladies don't fool around here! How scary for you Jana, hope they catch him fast. I guess that he can't move around much without leaving tracks in the snow though.
Good deal on getting your heat pump fixed Becca, hope it stays fixed this time.
Mary, hope you get some vegging time in before finishing your massive project.
Our Saturday is starting out same as usual, laundry and coffee, and contemplating the meals for the weekend. Think I have decided on oven baked chicken and mashed potatoes, salad and veggie of some sort. And hot rolls. Am hoping to get a few more loads of laundry under my belt, stick in the chicken and finish sewing DGD's quilt together, except for borders. It seems that my WOW is pretty much non existent, so I need to search again, and decide what in the world I am going to use for my thin white border that I originally planned. SIGH...always something. This is a scrap quilt that I only bought the last border for, so not sure what to do if I can't find the white, maybe audition and see if bubble looking wow or plain white would look ok....Hope you all have a wonderful day. Becky

Hi ladies, I know I am late AGAIN! Just made BBQ aka, sloppy joes. And home made potato salad to go with the sandwiches.
I quilted most of the day. Got all if one direction for the cross hatch finished. Started the rows in the opposite direction, then said, whoa! Time to quit for the day. Getting excited to have it finished!
Sorry for the short post. Hard to type from my phone.
