SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Jan 16
Good morning!
Our pretty 60* weather is just a memory now. Rain and 40's are back. But what a sweet taste of spring we were given! And it was still light at 5pm! Only 63 more sleeps until spring! Did I tell you my daffodils are up about 4-5 inches?
Yesterday Bill got a very sudden appointment with a mechanic about 40 minutes away to have some maintenance done on our 14-yr 0ld Camry - brakes, transmission fluid, and some other things. So off we scurried, he in the pick-up and me in the car. I had Scottie with me and at a stoplight we pulled up beside Bill in the truck. You should have seen Scottie's face when he looked out the window and saw Dad! lol!! Too funny! We will have to go back this afternoon to pick up the car.
When we got home, I cleaned the bathroom - emptying cabinets, wiping them out, dusting up top, washing baseboards, door, floor, shower curtain rods, etc. How could I spend 2 hours cleaning a small room that LOOKED clean to begin with! Then I cleaned the hall linen closet. I blame BECCA. Her spring cleaning has gotten to me!
Today I will start prepping our 19x24 foot family room for painting. We also stopped to choose and order some wallpaper and borders. We'll paper one accent wall. The plan is to have this all done before Albert's surgery, when family will most likely all show up here for a week or two. If we have a deadline, things might actually get done.
Bill started another big project yesterday - he wanted a window on his side of the bed in the RV. So he ordered the window and yesterday cut the hole IN THE SIDE OF OUR NEW TRAILER! I couldn't watch! But, as always, he did a very nice job and it almost fits! A bit of trimming to do and one more trip to Home Depot. He should be able to wrap that project up today. She said, hopefully.
Oh, by the way, I posted a photo of the last quilt in the quilting queue. Bill finished quilting it about 10 days ago but I finally got the binding on yesterday and now it's tossed over a loveseat in our living room.
BECCA - Relieved you have another heat source! Did you see what you have wrought at my house?? Did you?? Now I am on a quest to get all my cabinets cleaned and re-organized as well as paint and paper our big room. I will probably be grateful to you and your infuence when it's all done. Yeah. Maybe then. ;o)
JANA - that sounds like an inspirational subject! I know you'll do a 'heavenly' job of it! You are an inspiration, just by yourself! In fact, every person here in our Supper Club is an inspiration in a different way! How is Kate doing? Any more problems? Are we up to 27 weeks yet? Is she on a restricted activity regimen? If I crocheted a baby blanket, that baby MIGHT have it by high school graduation!!
VELDA - your quilt is awesome! How do you plan to quilt it? Can you leave your machine at the clubhouse so you don't have to haul it back and forth? How do you plan to quilt your quilt? This one is pretty special. Have you thought about have it done professionally? Or checking out LQS's for LA's so you could do it yourself? They teach you. More expensive, but might be worth it.
CHICKIE - All I can say to you is BRRRRR!!!!
TINA - Did everything get hooked up yesterday at your dad's "new" home? Can you start resettling him inside again or do you have to wait until the porch goes back on?
LINDA - are you home yet? How was your trip?
IRISH - Are you un-freezing yet? National news says that more is coming your way. While Bill is a Dodge/Toyota man himself, (they all have their favorites, don't they!), he keeps looking at Subaru's. He says they have the best safety record in the industry. He keeps pointing out Subaru's we pass on the road, telling me what he's learned about each model! lol! That little SUV is a sweetie of a car!
BECKY - are you getting caught in all this cold, too?
And now on to supper plans. I made a "Western BBQ'd beef & corn cassserole" yesterday. Bill really liked it and lucky for him, I have plenty more for tonite! So we're good to go! I might stop at the store today for some salad fixings to go with.
What's in store for you at supper time?

Good morning! Just when I think it can’t get colder… it does. -2 this morning—REAL temperature! The wind chill was -12. I put on my many layers of clothes, coats, hat and gloves, and I took feed out to Annie and Blondie and a bucket of feed to Pocket Lint and Blackie. Blackie wasn’t out there, so I called her. I guess all 27 cows think their name is Blackie, as I had the whole bunch clamoring at the gates. So… range cubes for the bunch and feed for Blackie and Pocket Lint. Then I brought out bottles for Annie and Blondie. I came back in and jumped in a nice warm shower.
I plan to stay inside today! Ava’s mom got sick and stayed home today, and Choc and Maggie’s dad is off today. I had a doctor appointment for meds refills and look at my knee, but they called and postponed it because of the cold and slick roads. I really wasn’t looking forward to sitting in a waiting room full of sick people!
Yesterday I got part of the pieces of my blocks assembled for Mary’s Valentine swap. I plan to work on them again today. I will also print out the address list for DGD’s wedding in June. I have another calligraphy envelope job!
DH arrived early yesterday and today from Geezer Coffee, so I got side tracked making brunch. We had red beans and rice with venison sausage (made by the guys) for dinner last evening. Tonight will be more of the same unless I come up with something different.
Stay warm, if you can!!!
Bon appétit!

Good morning all.
We are the same temp as Chickie, but our wind chill was a touch colder than hers, I think it is warming outside now, the thermometer on the deck says 2 above now. Don't know about the windchill, but they said -22 this morning. Enough that they cancelled school in the areas all around us. So much for my me day that I took off today!
I made a pot of chili last night, so tonight, more of the same, or they can have grilled cheese with it or alone, or chili dogs. Kind of pick your poison night!
Stay warm all. Becky

Good afternoon from wintery, SW. Pa...Yep, that's it and all I'm going to say about it!
Mary, my heavens, you guys are busy....Isn't it funny, as in my case, just the thought of someone coming puts me in a cleaning frenzy! And I can do my best work if I have a deadline, which most times, I set for myself.....And now, I'm thinking maybe you and Becca should work your magic and get me moving to do the upstairs, lol...I need to find a week that has no appointments, sometimes hard to do....
I think Bill must have been talking to Terry about those Subarus, lol....With this cold weather and snow, I have no desire to even think about a new car unless one just pops up in the garage....But, when I do decide, I'll be sure to include Bill's advice....
I do have a bigger decision to make and that's regarding Jim's care...I've talked to the people at the home and they are suggesting maybe we let Hospice start helping...Just being with him yesterday, I know something has to be done...This disease is progressing and we're thinking he's now forgetting how to chew and then swallow..He's fine with his Ensure or anything to drink but it's the chewing...And he's gotten so weak, I can't even walk him up and down the hall any longer so today, they put him in a wheel chair...One thing that really got me yesterday, I was helping the aide get him in his recliner and he looked at me and said, "Can I help you with the cats?" Just as plain as day...That's the 1st time he's mentioned the cats and I just lost it! And speaking of those cats, boy do they know when I'm down..I have one on my lap and the other sitting beside me all the time, ready to give me a purr or 2.....What would I do without them.....
On my way home yesterday, I stopped at the Dollar Store and they had flower seeds, right at the check out counter...If that's not a sign of spring, I don't know what is...Of course as soon as I got home, it started to snow again, lol....
Not sure what dinner might be, probably soup or maybe a grilled cheese...My tastes are all out of whack lately and found an off brand vegetarian veggie soup that's really, really good, so that might be it tonight....
You all have a good day and hopefully a safe, warm one.....
Happy eating.............
Just remembered, my sister has a doctor's appointment tomorrow, which means a road trip and lunch (if we don't get more snow).....

Good afternoon!
Been busy all morning. Ethan didn't have school today - teachers needed the entire day to submit grades for this quarter. Sarah needed to go over to the farm, so he is here helping. We got the kitchen clean and are ready to run the vacuum. Michael has a church meeting here tonight, so I need to get the house in a assemblence of order. It's just the presidency that he serves in. So I am baking a batch of brownies too. Dinner will be something easy.
Mary - new paint and paper! What color did you choose? I had lots of wallpaper in my house in Concord, but the house here doesn't lend itself to paper walls. Hard enough to paint!
Irish - lots of prayers. That decision is such a hard one to make. Glad that you have your children near by to be there to help you and to be a support to you. Now that car may just magic itself into the garage!
Becca - I too need to get out my hair cutting tools - Michael is looking a bit shaggy.
Chickie - a day off - in the nick of time to stay warm! But there is more cold coming - we have a bunch of storms coming the end of the week, and lasting into next week. Lots of snow and cold. Heading your way after me.
Well, the dishwashers are done and need to be emptied and reloaded again.
Enjoy!
Jana
