SUPPER CLUB - Wed, January 10th
I'm posting this early cuz it's going to be another long day with a very early start.
Good morning!
Today is Autumn's birthday. My baby (the youngest of my three!) is 41! How did THAT happen?? It's also my dad's 106th birthday. As well as one of our late sheltie's, Shamrock (Sham would be 32). We used to have some pretty big parties back in the day!!
We are off with Albert again today. I can't believe all the tests he's had and all the different doctors. Pulmonologist, urologist, oncologist, cardiologist, and surgeons. I hope tomorrow there will be some definitive answers and plans. Just how long will they let cancer sit until they do something. We are on month 4 now since it was discovered. And still nothing is being done. Can you tell I'm starting to get a bit aggravated?
And Albert is getting more and more stressed as time and tests go on. He frets about his wife who really cant' be left along for more than a few hours; about his son with the brain tumor, and he doesn't know it, but his DD, who went with us yesterday, was in the ER last night thinking she was having a heart attack (she's 55) but turned out to be anxiety. Their family is really going through a tough patch. Yet he's always smiling and one of his kids is always at his side. And also watching out for their mom. We actually stayed home this winter because of Bill's brother, but it turns out it's my brother that is needing us!
Bill's brother, Mike, is just going along, getting his chemo which is becoming less and less effective. He is slowly slipping away from us. But other than to visit/call/text there's nothing we can do for them. They've got it all covered. All his doctors are 10 minutes from their house.
Scottie is the one getting the short end of all this! He has to stay home and be a good dog. Friends are taking turns stopping by to let him out to potty and giving him treats.
CHICKIE - glad you are getting some nice weather! And your pasture babies are getting their treats and bottles. When I was young I secretly always enjoyed it when the cows got out. It was fun having a roundup! But Daddy thought it was less fun. Splitting and stacking wood - ahhh . . . . goood times. . .
BECCA - Not another heating problem!! Bad timing! I hope you get it fixed ASAP!! I agree it's hard for the younger generation to see parents and grandparents in less than the healthy condition they remember them. But it does our kids no good to shield them from real life. Life is life. The better prepared they are to deal with it the easier it will be.
FARMER IRISH - sounds like your oldest son should have just bought that farm himself! What does he do now? Yes! Make use of that Nick while he is there! Have him move the furniture and as long as he is there, show him the business end of those brushes and rollers! By end of day he can put furniture back for you! and you will have had a nice day, one on one, with your wonderful young man! And I'm betting that Jim wouldn't think it's a bother to wake from a nap and see you sitting there. ;o)
BECKY - you're running behind this week? Behind what? I'd say you're right on time!
I'm not sure what our supper is going to be since I have no idea when it's going to happen. Albert likes to buy us late lunches as it helps him to feel less indebted to us so we let him. And then there's usually only a dish of ice cream to be et around 7pm here and we're good. But I do have a fistful of coupons for Subway so that might be a way to go, too. Neither of us feels like cooking after a day in the "Seattle Saddle".
So no ideas here. I hope you have some!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, January 10th
Good morning! Somehow I slept in. Our clock malfunctioned for the last time! It will drop an hour intermittently, and I wake up late. Of course, the calves were ready for breakfast! Blackie and Pocket Lint are regular morning visitors (and frequently afternoon beggars as well).
We have to make a run to town for feed again today. Those four calves are going through almost 50# of feed a day! I’m sure after the bad weather is over, they will all be on their own… sigh!
Mary—it’s crazy how long the doctors will postpone doing treatments. What a scare for your niece! Your brother doesn’t need all the stress in his life with his illnesses. He is one tough cookie! So sorry to hear about Bill’s DB as well.
Our weather was supposed to be nice today—around 60 before temperatures plummet to 12 tomorrow evening. It’s overcast, windy and chilly out there today. I really hate the ups and downs. I don’t worry about round-up too much except when the cows go over to “Yard of the Year” across the road… then it’s critical!!! You know where I’m talking about! Yes, they have been there wreaking havoc and we were personas non gratas for awhile.
Irish—I wish your son could have that farm! Land is cheaper here than many places if you can find it for sale. It’s doubled in less than ten years.
Dinner here—I have some steak to cook for DH along with baked potatoes and salads. I should make dessert for him, but he has cookies. I want to work in my sewing room between Ava, Choc and Maggie care, calf feedings, and going for the feed run. Mary—hope you find a yummy late lunch or Subway on your way home. I like to buy my sandwiches and get all the “toppings” in a separate container. That way if Mom wants a sandwich later, she can store it in the fridge, warm it later and add the toppings or have them as a salad on the side. Have a safe trip!
Bon appétit!

Hello everyone, drizzled here with more rain for 2 day’s then the bitter cold returns.
Maryz Your Poor DB has to be a tough one.So great he’s surrounded with loving kids & a great Sister & DBIL.Glad your niece was ok.So much stress is hard to deal with.
Hard to believe he got all that done in 1 day.I remember how Trying it was with My DB.He had 1 treatment and said no more. The first time he saw the Ocologist he told him to go home & get his affairs in order & that he did.My niece has done it all.
Prayers for all of them & you.
Oh yes This wonderful heat pump is at it again, freezing up.The repair man said he’s researching how to put an automatic switch on it so it won’t do this.We just try not to let it drive us crazy.Could be worse. He said a new one would be 7500.00
Chickie Those pets will eat you out of Home.Must really Take a lot for them all.I thought it may get delivered to your Farm.Maybe that’s a thing of the past.

Good afternoon!
Well my rain has turned to the big white flakes that fall from sky. Not sticking yet.
Got my uglues caught up, upstairs that is.
Dinner - chicken in gravy over rice and a salad.
Mary - be safe! Praying that all will get their act together quickly! No need in wasting time, but the doctors now seem yo feel that wsy. Is that HGTV in Gig Harbor this year near you? The beauty shots of the bay from that area are spectacular. Happy birthday to Autumn!
Becca - 7500 -ouch! Hope the problems get fixed rather than repkacing the unit. We thought of a heat pump for my basement, but the main heater in the house is big enough, so we use it .
Chickie - you have quite the herd and spring is just around the corner for some new ones to come to your house!
Well, I should get something done for today, useful that is. LOL
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon ladies,
Well, everyone is still busy!
Last night, I made a meatloaf and stuck it in the fridge, and washed and prepped baked potatoes this morning. I just called to see if DGD is home yet, and she was! So I told her to set the oven and stick them in, and pick a veggie to heat up when I get home. That was easy!
Have a great evening. Becky
