SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Dec 9th
Good morning!
Yesterday I got the laundry done and baked two batches of cookies, spicy almond crescents and chocolate & oatmeal no bake drop cookies. I think some folks call those 'preacher cookies', though I can't remember why. Also, Bill took the pick-up back in because it wasn't acting right, had a weird sound, and the 'low coolant light' kept coming on. They kept the truck all day so I had to go get him, but turns out when they worked on it earlier this week they forgot to add enough coolant when they were done! So no charge except for the cost of getting the truck in there, and going back to get it again. We are on the Olympic Peninsula so to get to Tacoma we cross the Tacoma Narrows Bridge over Puget Sound, a 1-1/4 mile span. There was "police action" going on as I drove into town. Looked like the cops were talking to a potential jumper. all was clear when we came back over again.
TINA - glad you had a nice birthday and got to dance at the party! Bummer about the move though. Parents never seem to listen to us, do they. I think because we are just 'the kids'.
CHICKIE - what a treat to get to see those frost flowers! We saw them last winter in Texas one morning in the field out behind our trailer. I couldn't figure out what they were and had to go explore. amazing!! I didn't know that it was a rare phenomenon, but that it just wasn't seen in the PNW.
BECKY - sorry you had to get out of your pj's and go to work. I acutally used to wear my pj's to work sometimes. I worked night shift and wore scrubs. We changed at work at beginning and end of each shift, so I'd put my jammies back on, go home, and crawl into bed! It was great!
JANA - hope your Solara is all better now and our RAM, too. Hard to believe that we both took our vehicles in to the supposed experts and it took forever to get it right.
SHIRLEY MAE - happy Thanksgiving! Again!
IRISH - at first you were thinking of not even putting up a tree and now you've got one up and thinking of swapping for a different one! lol! My brother in Alaska, often put up a Christmas forest! Trees in the interior where he lives are so scrubby that he would go out and cut 3 and kind of place them together along one wall to get a rather unique, Alaskan effect! Maybe you could do something like that! and by "dig up one of your little pines" do you mean digging around in a storage area or your back yard?? lol!
BECCA - how is your DH today?
Supper. I have no plan at all! But I do have a meatloaf in the freezer so maybe I'll thaw that and we'll have mashed potatoes and green beans. but I think we'll go grocery shopping today at both Costco and Freddie's (our Kroger) so our options may change. We are getting low on canned cat food adn there will be an ugly revolution if we don't fix that problem pretty dang quickly!
What are your options for tonite?

Good morning!
Not much here. Cold, but we have sunshine. That means our winter inversion is back for a time. The cold air coming down the canyons, trap the wsrmer air that is below, which is smoggy, so my mountains look dirty. Weather lesson for the day! LOL
Heading to the Cave to sew. Sarah is getting a new baaby kitty this morning. The kitty is a very pretty little girl. They tried to talk me into one of the rest of the litter, but not yet.
Mary - glad that the truck is fixed now. My car is ready, but we failed to get there yesterday to pick her up, so it will be Monday, as our mechanic is closed on the weekend. He is a great mechanic. Before we moved here, he replaced the motor in Aaron's old truck. We used him several times snd then we moved into our home, and found that he is a member of my Ward.
Dinner - Ethan was here last night and we did nachos, so there is taco fixin's leftover, so quesadillas or tacos tonight.
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Dec 9th
Afternoon everyone:
Belated Happy Birthday, Tina!
It has been cold and frosty, have to cover the sensitive things every night, but it is supposed to warm up this week. I haven't gone outside to do anything. Have been sewing up a storm to finish Christmas presents. My big Jinny Beyer quilt was delivered yesterday so I will be busy getting the binding on so I can give it to its new owner before Christmas. I am waiting on 2 more Christmas quilts from the long armers. I have also been playing with hexagons again. This time they are 3 inch size so I can sew them by machine. I am using a Christmas theme to make each hexagon. Don't know how I will set them yet, I just like choosing the fabrics for fussy cutting and sewing them up.
The fires in San Diego have blessedly spared where my family lives. It was touch and go for several days and came close, but they are OK. Feel so sorry for their friends who lost their homes and at least 50 horses. The fire could be seen from where we used to live in Carlsbad.
Last night we went to a Mennonite Church Christmas concert that was very enjoyable. The choir and the orchestra were very good for a small town. We like to attend small venues around Christmas as it makes the season more meaningful. There is one other Christmas concert at a big church in Fresno on the 17th that we will go to also.
Life is good for me right now and the biggest problem I currently have is fungus gnats in one of my orchids. If that is the worst, I am truly blessed. Hope you all have a great weekend, prayers for those in need.
