SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Dec 21

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Dec 21, 2017 4:21 am

Good morning! We are 30* here. brrrr!! but dry! So no complaints. And it's the shortest day of the year. tomorrow - we get more daylight! Hooray!! Time to shake out those shorts and halter tops!

Today is massage appointment and, I hope, my one and only grocery shopping trip before Christmas. Bill is going with is sister up to Bremerton to have lunch with their brother, Mike. So I'll get some time to myself this afternoon. I'll wrap a few stocking stuffers and then cut some fabric for the blocks for the fire victims.

JANA - I wonder if a neighbor would be willing to keep the puppy for a night or maybe the puppy gramma . . . . you know - for the sake of the kids' Christmas morning. ;o) They removed the last wrecked car, the engine, yesterday. They had to bring a special truck/trailer up from Oregon. I took pictures off the TV of that rig. MY God! Never seen such a gargantuan truck! I sent those pictures to my truck-driving brother in Alaska and asked if he'd like to be driving that. His answer - "You bet!!" The highway is now open again in time for evening commute. I can't believe they got all that cleaned up in 3 days even working through the nights.

BECKY - enjoy the busy! Too soon it gets too quiet.

IRISH - what are you doing to your kitchen cabinets? Washing them? surely not setting out to paint them at this time of year! It will be fun to the have the boys home for Christmas. Stephen seems to get quite a bit of time off being new in the military. Seems my older brothers only got home once every two years or so. (or come to think of it, maybe they didn't want to come home, but went other places with their buddies instead . .)

CHICKIE - you have been sooo busy and I now you've set your own Christmas sewing aside to do for others. Now THAT is the TRUE Christmas sewing! Blessings on you!!

TINA - are you going to make it in time?

LINDA - are you taking the MH or will you be moteling it at Yosemite? I know you told us all about the trip and I think it went in one eye and out the other! I have too many holes in my head!

Yesterday I made 6 loaves of Mary Q's cranberry bread. it is so good! I added in cinnamon and cloves cuz I love 'em. I've already given away 3 of them, froze two, and we've eaten half of the last one. I will put one out on Christmas Eve brunch when family is here.

tonite - it's going to be a chicken and noodle soup. Per request from the HOH. (Head of Household - or so he thinks. In MY world, that always meant Hard of Hearing and sometimes I think they are synonymous.

What's the plan for your supper?

Good early afternoon from a sunny but chilly, SW. Pa., and it's also dry here, thank goodness.....

Mary, sounds like your day is going to be a nice, quiet one, which doesn't seem to happen too often....I hadn't seen any pictures of the big truck but I can imagine what it would take to clear up something like that...Years ago, on one of our drives, we saw a big rig and I took Jim's picture standing beside the tire and it would have taken 4 of Jim, standing on each other's shoulders to reach the top of the tire..Our Kevin has those big things where he works but to them, they're like match box toys, lol....
Remember, yesterday, I said, if you weren't cooking, neither was I??? Well, on my way to see Jim, my sister called...Her DH decided we were all going out to eat...(I knew I liked this guy for some reason)..After not much thought, I visited with Jim, we went to eat and then I came back and took care of the cats...We went to a place called Wagon Wheel in a little spot on the map about 20 miles away and what a dinner! I told them I hadn't eaten that good since the last time my sister cooked...You know those trucks that say, "Wide Load", well that's going to be me if they keep feeding me like this.....
And there were only 2 cats at PetSmart for me to take care of...Both are adults and I feel so bad that neither have been adopted...But, they got lots of loving last night and special treats when they went back in their cages.....

Not going to stay and gab, have to errands to run and then get back and maybe get everything put in gift bags...

Mary, you asked about my cabinets...No I'm not painting them but did use a cleaner/refresher kind of stuff that makes them look like new...These cabinets are at least 30 years old and as much as I'd love a new kitchen, I know I wouldn't get the quality I have now...

I know I can't expect to get that "dinner call" tonight so I'll have to find something on my own....

You all have a great day......

Happy eating............

Eagle update: We're starting the "Pip Watch" on the Ft. Myers nest...This is when it gets exciting, waiting for that 1st crack in the egg until the hatch and then the real fun begins......

Hello everyone, been a busy day so far.
Got my DG run.Purchased a gas tank for back up for logs.In case of POutage. And Drug Store & Got Groceries.Came Home & DGS & DS Came for lunch. We had ham n cheese sandwiches with chips. And I got a banana pudding made for them so it all worked out.
After I got home I filled crock pot with candy ingredients so it’s cooking slowly.Last thing I’ll make except my strawberry bread for neighbors. That cranberry bread sounds good but they love my strawberry so that it will be.

Irish My cabinets are the same way as they are 36 yrs old.DS could build new ones with great workmanship but it would be expensive.I plan to keep my old ones.I love them As is.What a deal on your going out.Thats great.

Maryz Your Quiet day Sounds wonderful. Not many of those.

DH is still eating lite so it may be eggs tonite. Will ask his advice.Becca

Good morning!

The elf has finished sewing! I used the scraps from Matt's kids pj's and squeezed out a matching pair for Baden. He is just a little mutt, so I could. Now on to the wrapping - today's task. Michael has been staging it all for me on the dining table upstairs. Shouldn't take too long - ROFLOL!

Dinner - pizza sounds good, so will go later and bring home a Papa Murphy's.

Since all my kids can cook, they have been baking and making candies. We have fudge, toffee, sugar cookies, chewy cookies, cranberry nut bread, and on Saturday I will make a batch of divinity. That is the only candy that they have yet to master. So I still do that one. They share all their confections with us, so that Mom judge that they did it right. They do!

Mary - Matt was going to have his BIL puppy sit, but my Matt is a softee and is worried about the puppy being separated from the mom, so he wants to be there to help the puppy adjust. They are still trying to decide what to do. Anyway they do it, Tanner will ge over the moon with getting this little puppy.

Well, I better get going,
Jana

Hi ladies.
The mad rush to finish Christmas is on at our house too! And to throw some excitement into the mix, we have a birthday today! Our Ericka is 16. I would say she was sweet, but .......she is our drama queen! Ha...Her mom is either doing dinner tonight, or bringing something home, I didn't hear what they decided last night, but either way, I don't have to cook. Doesn't feel like I have done a whole lot of cooking this week, but I imagine I will make up for it this weekend.
I don't know Mary, some days I would almost kill for a little quiet!
Enjoy your evening....Becky
