SUPPER club - Sat, Nov 18
Good morning!
We are still dry! and in the low 40's. Going to enjoy it as we have wind and rain coming back this week.
Yesterday I took inventory of what Christmas shopping I've done through the year, and made a list of what I need to do. I might go out and work on that list today. I sure won't be going on Black Friday! I also raked the flowerbeds of leaves so I could put the lights out on our shrubs. You would have laughed to see little old 4'-11" me trying to toss lights over 15' bushes! But I got 'er dun!
Then, come evening, we sipped eggnog and watched Christmas Vacation. We're getting in the mood here at the Rockin' Z!
BECCA - I think we used to have Bi-Lo's here. years and years ago. I wish the big stores would have a few places to sit located around the store. My parents had a terrible time doing their grocery shopping. I helped them with big shopping trips, but finally had to do it all for them.
LINDA - you asked if you could borrow the idea of my Woven Ribbons quilt. Absolutely! It's not my idea, anyway. I merely copied a photo from a magazine. I think it would be pretty in almost any kind of fabric - Christmas, batiks, brights. What would you use? I think a quilter of your caliber would find this an easy quilt to make and be a nice respite for you after your JB. I followed the photo closely in color and fabric. I kind of guessed at the size of the 9-patches, given the size of the quilt and the number of 'patches used, and ended up using 1-1/2" strips to make my 'patches. I hope you do make it. I'd love to see what you do with it!
JANA - I know you miss your Perry. Amazing how much energy an old, sleeping cat can impart into a household. I'm glad you and Sarah were doing something festive yesterday - painting ornaments. And you got snow!! I saw it predicted for you on the national news. I love snow! We get very little and when we do it starts melting the moment it stops snowing. I hope yours is cleared up soon, though. Terry will be rolling down '15' tomorrow, headed for her DD's in Vegas.
TINA - acckkk!! Salmon patties when you could be making tacos or tamales, or peanut butter sandwiches!?? Girl, you are really skating on thin ice! I hope your mom's doctors get it together soon and make some decisions on a plan for her.
dinner tonite? Could be tacos again. Depends on if the leftovers are still there come suppertime. Sometimes they disappear around noon. It's a mystery! So I have a back-up plan of homemade pizza.
Is your supper plan still a mystery?

Good morning!
Yes we do have snow! We got about 4 inches yesterday and so far it has stuck! To the yard, the roofs and the roads. And all the idiot drivers have come out of the woodwork! The ones that drive way to fast, the ones that drive way to slow and the California drivers that don't know how to drive in snow at all! I have slowly learned to drive in that silly white stuff.
Dinner - don't know what will happen. Michael is taking losing Perry very hard and isn't much in the mood to eat, so I am playing it by ear.
We have a traipse today after we get the Ward Bulletin done for tomorrow and I think I will stop off at the fabric store for some flannel. I am making PJ's for my tribe for their Christmas this year.
Enjoy!

Late morning:
It actually rained about .02 of an inch yesterday but dried up fast. It turned out to be a beautiful day. The wind from the rain brought down about 1/2 of the leaves from our Chinese Tallow in the front yard. DH has just raked up leaves the day before, of course. Eveywhere else got at least a 1/4 inch and lots of snow in the mountains. We were just a dry pocket here. Today is cold, but clear. No Tule fog yet.
Here are pics of the new sun room. The cabinets are not in yet and it is not finished being decorated yet (I want to add a lot of plants) but it is usable and wonderful to sit in and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. I like to say, "I am taking lunch in the solarium, dear". LOL.

Jana - I know it is hard to lose a pet. We have lost so many over the years that we don't even want to replace them. Just too hard to suffer the loss.
Mary - So many prayers for your ill family members, you seem to have more than your share right now. The last 3 years I have had my hands full with parents, sister and aunt. But I have had a better year this year. Parents passed and sister and aunt have stayed healthy. I have really enjoyed being home.
DH is busy making chili for tonight. We didn't not go out for dinner because we are leaving next week on Wednesday to go to the coast (Cambria) for 4 days over Thanksgiving and to enjoy their Festival of Lights, as well as the Christmas decorations at San Simion (Hearst's Castle). DH doesn't want me exposed to any illness before we leave. That is my history...getting sick just before we leave somewhere. So I am isolated until next Wednesday.
Went to the dentist yesterday to get my new crown put on and the color was WAY off. Since the crown is 1/2 way to the front, it will be seen. I didn't accept it and now I have to wait another month for a new one to be made. I have spent this year having 5 old, old crowns replaced since I still have dental insurance and this was #4. The other 3 all were perfect. As usual, we call it the "Wayda luck".
Got some Kritter Rid at Home Depot on Wednesday and it must be working, haven't picked up cat litter under my roses since. It is supposed to work for 30 days. We shall see. Expensive stuff, though.
Have an amazing day!

Re: SUPPER club - Sat, Nov 18
Good afternoon from a really, really yucky, dreary, rainy, SW. Pa...The only thing worse would be snow, so I shouldn't complain too much.....Talked to Kathy and they have a couple of feet of snow in the mountains and it's cold out there.....Yikes!
Mary, Glad to hear someone is in the Christmas mood, lol...About a month ago, I bought special Christmas cards (with cats, of course) and would you believe, those cards are still in the bag waiting for someone to address them...That person is really slacking off, again....Not sure if I'll get any outside lights put up, heck, not even sure I'll do a tree...For sure not the big one but maybe a smaller one....
Jana, I feel so bad about Perry but he really did have a good, long, life, an especially good life...I have a very hard time when one of our's goes over the bridge...But, then I think anyone with a heart would understand the bond between a person and their fur kids...Give Michael a hug from this old cat person....
Linda, the sun room is awesome! I can imagine curling up with a good book and a cup of tea or hot chocolate...Enjoy every minute you spend in it.....
Becca, Not too many of our stores have places to sit but I remember, years ago, going to Walmart with my friend in Florida...In the back of the store was a fairly big McDonalds and sure enough, it was always full of men, waiting for their wives to shop...I think it might have only lasted a few years but it was great for the men....
I agree about thinking of the mate...I guess we figure, women are more able to care for themselves than men.....
Being a nasty day, I felt like staying in my flannel PJs all day but I do want to visit with Jim...If I showed up looking like I do, they might thrown me in one of the beds...(not a pretty sight)...But, I did some laundry, redd up the house and made an apple braid that I'm going to take to the girls and of course Jim...It's very much like apple pie but made with puff pastry and oh so good!
Not sure what dinner will be, just had a scrambled egg for lunch so it's kind of hard to think any further about food.....
One sad note, Terry called me yesterday and his ex mother in law passed away yesterday afternoon...She hadn't been real healthy but I'm sure this wasn't expected..She lived in S. Carolina but they're bringing her back here for funeral and burial...Both Stephan and Nick were both going to visit her for Thanksgiving but now, they'll be on their way up here....Always sad but around a holiday, extra......
Better get on my way........Notre Dame plays this afternoon and the Penguins are on tonight......
You all have a great day......
Happy eating..............
