SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Oct 25

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Oct 25, 2017 3:17 am

Gosh, where is the time going?? Halloween is next Tuesday! Seems we were just having summer meals out on the deck!

Not too much going on around here. I have jury duty coming up starting Monday - if I get selected - so I'm trying not to get too deep into any big projects. I'm mostly just goofing off with little stuff.

IRISH - your Action Hero quilt is amazing!! What a lot of work! But who was it for? If you said, I missed it. Theresa, Terry's new wife? And are they called Terry & Terry? We have two Therese's in our family and both are called Terry. Sorry you are having to go through THAT test, but so glad you are having it done! I had mine last year. The prep was half what it used to be and the stuff tasted so much better (lemon Gatorade). Just keep some quilting magazines in the bathroom - or a TV - and you'll be just fine! Is your sister driving you?

BECCA - happy belated birthday to your mom. Our moms would be the same age almost. I thought you said your DGS's wife's birthday was this week, also, as well as your MIL and I was asking if that DGS's wife is the mother of the twins about to be born. Have they named the twins yet? How was the dentist appt?

TINA - I'm proud of you for walking away when your mom got nasty. And I think your two hour limit is a good idea. Your situation is so similiar to our Vicki thing, it's uncanny. Your parents don't know what a treasure they have in you and they should put you on a pedestal! And thank you again for the chilies! You gave me quite a few packages and since I'm not accustomed to cooking with chilies, I forget sometimes that I have them, so they are going a long way. Love them! so much better than the canned ones!

LINDA - sorry your ride was a bit of a bust and sorry the contractor hasn't come back. I hope he shows up soon! That's a lot of furniture to go into a sunroom. How big is it?

CHICKIE - you look AWESOME!!! What a chick you are! Thank you, Tina, for posting that photo! Glad you had such a good time at the party! One of these years we might make it back your place on our way to Texas. We'll bring costumes!

I think tonite will be baked pork chops, potatoes, and salad. I'm almost looking forward to cooking! Maybe because there's not much cooking involved here! lol!

What's cookin' at your house?

Good morning! You’re right—where did October go? Wasn’t last week the first? We were 34 degrees this morning when I went out to feed the calves. On a happier note, we will be warmer today than yesterday—just in time for another cold front to come through with blustery winds.

Mary—I’ve never served on a jury. I’ve only had one notice, but nothing was on the docket and never reported.

Irish—I’m sure I’ll be having one of those before too long. It runs in my family… Grandma and Mom.

Becca—know your family is excited! No twins here—just sometimes with the calves. That would be so much fun—we have several sets of twins among the kids’ friends—all girls!

Linda—nothing like construction stuff sitting all over the house. I remember toilets in our living room ages ago when we remodeled one large bath into two small ones. We had a teen-age daughter at home… need I say more?

Tina—I agree with Mary… sometimes you just have to walk away for your own sanity and just to let them know they can’t treat you like dirt.

I’m not sure I look awesome, but thanks! I’ve never seen that angle in my mirror—wish I really did look like that! Thanks, Tina!

Dinner tonight… I made chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy last night. DH will have some of that, and I’ll finish the taco soup. Easy peasy! I’m sure some veggies and salad will be added to the mix.

Bon appétit!

P.S. I just heard Fats Domino died. "Ain't that a shame." I grew up with his music. R.I.P. Mr. Domino.

Good morning :)
It was pretty cool for my walk this morning, I might have to start wearing a sweater over my shirt sleeve shirts. I was happy to not hear the coyote this morning, they give me the willies.
Becca, my father in law was a twin and so was my mother in law, they had 11 kids who had 30 grand kids and then I lost track of how many great grandkids but only 1 of the great grandkids had a set of twin girls 3 years ago. My daughter was a twin but her twin died early in the pregnancy so we never knew if it was a boy or girl. We all wonder if having both the parents as twins cancelled out the twin possibility in this family, it's weird. You have fun with your new set :)
Mary, I wonder where this year went too. ... actually I wonder where the last 3 years went, I remember me and Frankie were sitting at the table and he was saying he want sure he could make it another 3 years till retirement and I told him, just think that's only 3 Christmases away! He said well when you put it that way it doesn't seem so far away and now it's here, he only has 32 work days left! It's crazy!
Chickie, we're getting the same weather as you lately. Wish we would get snow this winter, I love snow and my grandkids here love it with me LOL
We had a blast last night! They had a Halloween contest so part of the people dressed up and some were kids and others adults. The winner of the contest was Mr and Mrs Incredible Hulk, he actually picked her up sideways (he had a hand under her arm and one on her leg and she was laying down) he carried her the full length of the walk, about 75 feet! We ended up eating for free because they lost our pizza 4 times LOL but we had so much fun and laughter we didn't care. The owners felt bad and we told them no need to and we were having fun but they insisted we not pay so we had a great time for free. :) They ended up having twice the people they expected and ran out of food even. It was great! But everybody was happy and having fun so nobody got mad. And it was their last pizza night till April so they went out with a bang! Oh they ended up giving us 2 pizzas so we're having the leftover for supper and a salad. :) I'm happy to have a no cooking night.

Good morning from, yep, chilly, dreary, SW. Pa...Thank goodness for furnaces and electric blankets.....

This will have to be quick, running to visit with Jim and of course, I'm running late...

Mary, thank you for the nice compliments on THE quilt...It was really for Nick's room at the house up here but it was all Terry's wife's idea...She did the complete room in comic book characters (these silly guys love their comics)...And, we call her Theresa but I think there is a Theresa in everyone's family as well as a bunch of friends...Does get confusing....
BUT, my big news, Stephan and his lady love are engaged...I guess he wanted to make sure she "approved" of our family, lol and waited until they got back to N. Carolina to put the ring on her finger....

Tina, I also agree, give your self a time limit with your parents...Too long just wears you out and isn't good for anyone...

Well, better get moving...Yesterday was doctor day and Cardiologist and Dermatologist both gave me a thumbs up...Now on to the nasty and hope that's a good report, also....Along with doctor's, taking care of the cats at PetSmart, my sister and DBIL treated me to Chinese...

I don't have to think of dinner, except that I'm not eating and probably will be starving, lol....

You all have a great day..........

Happy eating.................

Good afternoon!

I have been plugging along on the 5th and 6th bags of my JN. The sixth bag is mindless sewing of strips, so it is easy on the brain. I will be glad to have this done. I hate deadlines with a passion and being in a class is a deadline! At least this top will be done in December. The next JN I do, will be at my own, slow, turtle pace!

Chickie - love the picture! There is in the town I grew up in, Richmond, across the Bay, a National Park and monument to Rosie the Riveter. At the old Kaiser Shipyards there. My dad was kept out of the war, as he was one of the few men on the West coast that knew how to sweat steel, to shrink it to fit the booms on the Liberty ships, that were built in the Kaiser shipyards in Richmond.

Tina - you are nominated and now declared Daughter of the Year!

Becca - not long and those babies will be here.

Irish - another wedding - more fun at your house.

Mary - I have received several summons for jury duty, but always had babies or kids that needed me, so I have never served. DH, on the other has a couple of times. The lawyers usually throw him off as they don't want to convince a engineer or they ask about law enforcement in the family.

Dinner - depends on my mood - we may go get Mexican takeout from a new favorite restuarant.

Enjoy,
Jana
