Psalm 88
Many times we cry out to God for help ut sense no response. Theis Psalm is a reminder that we need to be perfectly honest and candid with God. We need to tell Him exactly how we feel. He is not interested in beautiful, syrupy platitudes when we are really feeling angry and rejected. We need to tell Him when we are feeling depressed and in despair. We should acknowledge when we feel that He has let us down and that we are hurting. Confess the hopelessness we feel when afflictions overwhelm us, or we go through the pain of a broken relationship or the despair of living with an incurable disease. Acknowledge the anger and grief we feel upon the loss of a loved one or bitterness when the infirmities of old age bring loneliness and make life meaningless. After all. God knows. Our relationship with Him is not enhanced by pretense and hypocritical expressions.
However, we must remember that the final verses and chapters of life have not been written. God does hear our cry. He is the God of our salvation, not only from sin, but He delivers us from suffering, affliction, and despair. We may feel as if we might as well be dead, but God grants us each day for a purpose, and we must trust in Him.
