SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Oct 9
Good morning,
We are home from camping. A nice week, but we were ready to come home. Got some laundry done and my son and DDIL came with our new kitty, Annie, a British shorthair who is gray and white, though her vet records call her "blue" and white. She is very shy and loves to burrow under blankets, towels, FABRIC - whatever she can find. She slept under the covers at my feet all night long. But so far, so good. No one has lost any eyes.
Since I was using my phone for posting while camping I tried not to get too wordy. Tedious. It wasn't until this morning when I went looking for my computer that I realized Bill had taken my computer with us BUT NEVER TOLD ME!! And he sat next to me on the couch every morning watching me squint at my tiny screen and keyboard! The man has the communication skills of a rock.
BECCA - I hope the storm did you no damage and that's the LAST ONE!
CHICKIE - I know you had a busy weekend because you always do!
TINA - you worked all weekend at your parents' getting their home ready to move. How is mom doing? I know she was discharged and now is in their motorhome in the hospital parking lot.
JANA - so your JN class is next weekend and not this past weekend? did you get your homework done, girl??
IRISH - Did you get to Pet Smart and play with the kitties yet?
VELDA - it takes a while to get all packed up again when you've been in one spot for more than even a few days!
LINDA - I was thinking of you this past week. Where we were camping is a LOT of cranberry fields and it's harvest time. We toured a facility and learned about how Ocean Spray makes their craisins - under sterile conditions. Made me think of the lesson you gave us on sun-dried raisins which made me concerned about bugs, birds, and beasts! lol!
Anyway, we're home and we'll need to be eating again tonite. And it's going to be leftover pork & mushroom gravy over rice. and salad.
And now I'm off to find Annie. Last I saw her she was huddled on a shelf of fabric in my sewing room. She met Scottie. Lots of big eyes and hissing!
Do you have any ideas yet about your supper?

Good morning! Where did the weekend go? It definitely was busy. DH finished paneling my kitchen corner with the cedar boards, and we hung my cast iron skillets, grill pan and dutch ovens. He made hangers using old silverware handles and lid holders with cedar chunks. I love it! Now he is thinking of doing a little more. I told him not to stop—I really love the look and would be happy with as much as he wants to do. I always loved the knotty pine of the 50s and the cedar is special as it was trees on the farm. They needed thinning, and now they live on my walls!
The calves are doing well. They discovered my hostas. I wasn’t too happy, as the hostas were recovering from Pocket Lint and Blackie’s foraging and looking pretty good. They no longer look so well. They also love watermelon! We had watermelons that were too ripe when I butchered them at the picnic table. I’d left them laying on the ground and was going to haul them to the compost pile. Before I got the job done, Little Orphan Annie and Blondie had found them and had quite a feast. They cleaned up everything in a few days, so the watermelons didn’t go to waste.
Mary—I love “blue” kitties! She reminds me of one I had ages ago, but he didn’t have white on him. He had the original name of Blue. Sounds like the night went pretty good! I hope all goes well with your nephew!
Becca—I wondered if you had rain from the last hurricane. That’s so sad about the WNC student.
Velda—I still have a hummer or two each day. I guess you are pulling up stakes to go south with them.
Irish—I thought of you when I saw the Steelers’ score… Best you don’t watch!
Dinner tonight… hummmmm… those burgers sound good, but it may be Florida fare. Our hunter and his son are returning this coming weekend, and I’m hoping he brings more freezer fillings. Spinach, maybe tots, and salads, crème cake for DH. Oh, and I have half of a huge artichoke left from last night that is all for me.
Bon appétit!

Good morning!
Beautiful day outside - but one of those deceiving days - it is cold out there!
Heading down to the cave to do my JN homework. I have the laundry going as well.
Humm, dinner - in the mood for simple fare, banned noodle cassarole with a veggie on the side.
Mary - baby kitty sound like a very sweet little girl. My Ginger kitty was like that, loved to sleep under the blankets.
Becca - glad that you are OK with all that rain. The they said that it would be a fast storm.
Chickie - your kitchen sound like my kind of decorating - farmhouse style, but then again, you do live on a farm!
Better get going, my seam ripper and scotch tape await!.
Enjoy,
Jana
