SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Sept 28th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Sep 28, 2017 2:58 am

Good morning!

The kids are still on Mountain Time and think we should all get up and eat breakfast at 4:00am. Funny, how they can adapt so quickly, WHEN THEY CAN'T READ CLOCKS (at least I don't think they can!) when we go east, but are so reluctant to eat by the clock when we come west again.

Bill decided to fix the dryer himself. He's never fixed a dryer before but decided to give it a whirl. So now we have dryer pieces spread all over the family room. He just tuckered out too soon yesterday. But he has the new parts and he came back and reported that the parts saleslady told him to never sell our Maytags which are 25 years old because she says the new ones are lucky to last 6 years. Pretty bad when someone in the business tells you that!

I finished my 30's swap blocks yesterday and will pop them into the mail to Tina today and clean up my sewing room. Then decide what's next. Seems like I had 3 projects going at once for a bit and now I can't find the other two or even remember what they were! lol! Guess I really mean it when I say I need to clean in there! Maybe it's time to put some old swap blocks together rather than start something new.

TINA - You only eat pizza in the summer? you said you went out for pizza and that was the last one for the summer. Does the place close down for winter or do you just consider pizza summer food?

BECCA - When is your second set of twins due? And did you ever find out if they are boys, girls, or one of each? Are you working on quilts?

IRISH - I would love for you to come west to explore our parks (and visit me, of course!). In fact, I think it would be great to have a Supper Club gathering!! We can all get together and have a potluck of our best dishes! Kids are funny in what they remember. I think you should make a little tuxedo, like for a Ken doll, and next time he asks, hand it to him! you can tell him either he's expanded or you cleaned it for him and it shrunk. Your choice! lol!!

LINDA - I'm sorry your hubby isn't up for longer trips. There is so much to see in this country. If you come driving up I-5 to visit family, don't stay at the Siskiyou Inn in northern CA. It's such a pretty location in the pine trees, but we found bed bugs there. In our bed! The next night our motel had a dirty toilet and shower, damp sheets, and previous people's soap left on sink. Thinking we needed to up our motel quality, our next trip we stayed at a brand new Marriott in SD and found soap scum in the bathroon sink, no shower curtain, and no hot water! Maybe we just have bad motel karma. But now we take our trailer any time we can. We prefer our own bed, even if we have to fight the cats for room in it! LOL!!

JANA - I inherited a wanderlust from my parents and love traveling. We've explored lots of Civil War sites, New England in the fall, my great-grandparents' graves in upstate NY (and their parents and grandparents!), climbed the lighthouse in St. Augustine, FL, toured Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, waded in Lake Superior, danced in New Orleans' French Quarter to a jazz band, and been to the top of the Statue of Liberty. and I can't wait to do it all again some year. But you are right - we don't think traveling by RV is any cheaper going by car and moteling. We've done the math several times and it usually comes out a 'wash'. Though now, we get senior rates, and there is a lot of free camping on BLM lands in AZ and a few other western states so that tips things a little in the favor of RV's IF you are simply camping.

Bill was too tired to grill burgers last night and wasn't very hungry anyway so we ended up with toasted cheese sandwiches. So tonite will be the hamburgers for sure along with a salad.

What's the supper story at your house?

Mary, I love pizza but do try to limit how often I eat it LOL but this is a thing that here in Deming the winery doesn't have a restaurant but they do in Cruces, so through the summer months they come over here and bake pizzas for us, their winery started here and they grow all their grapes here for their wines, it's a small winery but I love going out there. Next time your here I'll show you were it is :o)

Here's a couple pix for you :o)
