Supper club-Thursday, September 14

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Sep 14, 2017 2:28 am

Good morning, I think I have the day and date correct, but I reserve the right to be wrong.

We are still in southern Idaho at a nice park overlooking where the pioneers in the wagon trains crossed the snake River. Looking across the river, we can see the scars in the hillside where the wagons came down. What a hazardous trip that must have been!

Tonight we will be in Snowville Utah. And then Friday on to Richfield, about two-thirds of the way down the state. Weather has been nice - too nice, actually. But I think it will cool off somewhat now

I have been working on my embroidery - the state birds - as we travel. And somehow I found myself signing up for a second set of 20 blocks in the 30's swap. Bill started talking about how nice it would be to have a new quilt for our king bed and suddenly my name was on Tina's list. I have my machine with me. Now if I just had some fabric and rulers I could sew!

I think supper tonight will either be burgers on the grill or some pre-packaged frozen Asian noodle thing from the freezer. It's not very tasty but it is easy and travel convenient.

I hope your supper is more tasty than ours!

Good morning! We are going for warm here today again and no rain. We are so dusty, and add the pollen laden air… unbreathable. I feel bad whining when I think of the people in Texas with all the mold and other stuff to try to dig through in their homes… or what is left of them.

Tuesday I went to the quilt shop with the Hooligans riding shotgun and found three pieces of flannel for baby blankets for the shower this weekend . I hurried home and made then, then yesterday I worked on my blocks for Tina’s swap in between dog duties, calf feedings, trip to town for calf supplies and dog food… I have 8 blocks totally cut out and beginning to sew. Background pieces are cut for the rest. I was optimistic and made 20—so glad Mary and Tina are making king-size quilts! I’ll probably add flying geese borders and make my quilt to fit our bed.

I’ve found out what is attractive about Pocket Lint. It’s her “Sweet Feed” perfume. All the calves come home with Lint and Blackie. Their mom has the best “after school” treats!!! I’ve also had all the cows at the gate for range cubes (cow treats). Every critter on the farm is a shameless beggar! Speaking of… I need to go make some more humming bird nectar. Traffic is slowing down, but they are still coming by on their way south.

We’ve been having taco salads with tomatoes from the garden—vines are loaded with little green cherry tomatoes. If it gets cold on me, I’ll be harvesting and canning some relish or something with them. We also had a sea delicacy last evening with corn on the cob and tater tots. There are leftovers of everything except corn, and I can make some more of it.

Our hunter is coming in tomorrow for the weekend to get things set up for hunting season. I know he’s bringing goodies for future meals. He had roof damage and damage to his lanai and a tree, but that was it from Irma at his Ft. Myers home. They were pleased it wasn’t worse.

I need to work on my floors a bit, then I’ll sew on my 30s blocks. I confess, some new 30s fat quarters jumped in my bag at the quilt shop. It’s so much fun pulling colors for the blocks.

Bon appétit!

Good morning !

Mary - there are two quilt shops, one in Gunnison on the main drag, south end of town and one in Richfield. When we dropped off Stu at school, we headed to those shops for RBRs. There is a fabulous one in Draper, off I-15 at exit for 123000 South, then east to 900 East, then north on 9th East and the shop is on the west side - The Quilters Lodge, also known as Thimbles and Threads. The rig can be parked on the east side of the road and then it is a easy trip back to I-15. Thimbles and Threads has great 30's prints - Bee in my Bonnet, Lori Holt, teaches out of there and they carry her fabric lines. So it would not be much of a delay to stop there. Thimbles and Threads is Sarah's and mine favorite LQS and where my JN class is. Call, I have a extra mat, cutter and ruler - meet you at a off ramp!

Watch out for the wind - a big storm is rolling in and that stretch of I84 and I15 is sometimes treacherous.

Well, now for dinner - gravy, mashed pitatoes and something to go with them.

Enjoy!
Jana

Morning all:

Monday we had a freak thunderstorm roll thru. We had some rain at our house but other outlying areas had lots more rain, high winds and even hail. This has compromised the raisin crop lying on the ground. Rain causes dirt to get into the wrinkles as well as mold. They haven't assessed the loss yet. When DH and I drove thru the fields on our way to our favorite Mexican restaurant, we saw lots of newly planted fruit trees blown over and lying down. I hope they can save them. Here is a picture of the whole thing starting.

I have been busy with quilting things, getting ready for the show next weekend. Monday my little quilting group got together for the afternoon. Tuesday I went into town to help hang quilts in about 12 shop windows for advertising. Also signed the final papers for the sale of DH's building...last part of his retirement!! Wednesday our little quilt group got the quilt trailer that holds all the racks of pvc pipe to make the quilt racks and checked supplies, etc., ready for the set up on Friday the 22.

Today I have to get laundry done, scrub Speedy so he looks handsome for his trip tomorrow, clean house because the contractor is coming this afternoon to go over details to start converting our back porch into a sun room. Then we leave tomorrow for 3 days to the coast, leaving Speedy at his new forever home along the way. Won't be home until Sunday. Then my brother and his wife are stopping by on Monday on their way back to San Diego, after traveling up to Washington for the past month. They will spend the night then 6 hours home on Tuesday. This afternoon is also getting my two new crowns put on. So, this week has and will be busy.

Weather is finally out of the 100's and next week may even be in the 80's. Leaves are beginning to change color and starting to drop, so Fall is coming. We have only about 3 weeks of Fall, then it is Winter so the change is fast.

Well, can't linger, have lots to do. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi everyone! :)
I've been so busy this morning and even took an un planned nap for about 20 minutes which isn't good because I was watching the boys. I've almost got all the laundry finished and the kitchen is done and the house is picked up again. I have to meet Frankie at 4 in town for paperwork signing for his retirement. He has 58 actual work days left, his last day will be December 28th. Preston fell asleep on me earlier. ...I guess we were both extra tiredtoday.
I have hamburger thawing for supper. ... maybe tacos?

Tina
