SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 1
Good morning!
I finished my Halloween mantle scarf for my DD. Not to arrange a time when we can get together and I can give it and the bicycle quilt to them. I have some scraps left over as well as two extra 12" blocks so I think I'll make a small tablerunner for our coffeetable next.
Yesterday was a very odd day with Vicky. She went on a 2-mile walk-about toting a big bag and her walking stick. she is very unstable on her feet. Bill saw her so he followed discreetly in the car, just keeping an eye on her. Called family and got little interest. But this was UNUSUAL behavior for Vicky. Last time she did this - 18 months ago - it was her first big break with reality. Finally Bill lost her in the crowd at the farmers market downtown so he called the cops. After another hour or so they finally found her and brought her home. THEY called the dd's and got more response than we did. Cops told us APS needs to get involved. We said that's been tried 3 times already but they refuse to do anything for her. They said to tell them this time we had the backing of the police dept AND the county sheriff. They saw what's she done to the interior of her home and said it's time. Sad. So we'll be doing that this morning or Tuesday.
We are going to the fair this morning - 25 miles away through AWFUL traffic and heavy construction. I hate the drive but the fair will be fun. Free entry this morning with a donation to the food bank.
So the fair will be our supper, even if it's early. I will call it "Lupper".
What's it going to be for you tonight? Supper/lupper or Dinner/linner?

Good morning!
Mary - finally someone is listening to you! With law enforcement involved, things will get done. It forced the hand of FIL's second wife's family. They were unwilling to help until the threat of the psych ward was presented. Our hands were tied because of pre-nups. So sad to see Vicki suffer, when there is help available.
Dinner is leftover soup from last night.
If the window cleaning bug bites, there is a fabulous cleaner I found. It is Safelite glass cleaner. When we had the Solara's windshield replaced, the tech left us a can. Oh my! Clean shiny glass, no streaks! You can buy it on Amazon. Spray and wipe off with a sheet of newspaper. I will have no more Perry nose prints on all my windows! He loves to sit on my sills with his nosed pressed on the glass.
Enjoy!

Jana Nice shiney windows are nice.Every time I do mine it rains.
We got our trip to town done.We have a tree come down in road below our house but it doesn't affect us.We saw on road going into town there had been a big one in the road.

Good morning!
Same ole' routine, out at 6:00 to trim and clip. Already in the 80's with humidity. Worked until sun was out and too hot, jumped in to 86 degree pool to "cool" off at 8:30. In to make breakfast for DH. Another 108 day. No relief from this heat until Wednesday. Fires all around so air quality stinks.
Yesterday I ran errands, including buying the last nectarines that were fresh picked. The season ends today. Now the grapes are being cut for table grapes or crushing, and those that are earmarked for raisins are being placed on the ground on large squares of papers to dry. They will dry for 2 weeks, then get turned over and dry for another week (hopefully it won't rain). Then they get rolled up in their papers in the shape of a cigar, thus being called a "cigaro". After another week on the ground they are picked up and taken to the processing shed where they are washed, dried and shaken to get the stems and dirt off. After several times of that, and more drying, wahla....raisins.
Meanwhile the farmers are tending their finished fruiting orchards by trimming the trees, topping the trees, fertilizing and cleaning up the between rows. The fertilizer they use stinks (chicken or turkey poop is the best) and hatches so many flies in October. When I was teaching I would come into the classroom that was cold and all the flies would be on the ceiling. After I turned the heat on, they would warm up and fly down. They are the kind that pester you like crazy. So I would have to spend 15 minutes swatting before class or the kids couldn't pay attention.
Today is bill paying, then I am going to finish restoring the case for my new 1936 Featherweight. The case was in good shape, didn't stink and just needed a new handle and polishing up.The machine herself, is now restored and up for sewing. Then I am finally in the mood to work on my big Jenni Beyer quilt that I have been blocked on. The applique part is intense and I haven't enjoyed it at all. Yes, it will look nice when it is done, but it has been a struggle.
Hope you all have a good day today, too. Dinner is left overs from going out for Mexican last night.

Good morning
) I'm already exhausted and it's only 11:15! But I have all 3 kids and didn't sleep past 2:20 last night when Frankie woke me up yelling; he was having a dream.
Mary, I'm glad the police are involved now, wish I could be that lucky that law would get involved with my Mom and Dad. Dad really can't take care of Mom anymore but there's nothing we can do. I'm betting Vicky's kids feel that way too.
I'll be back

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 1
Good afternoon! I’m finally back and sliding in to my seat… I haven’t been sick, just busy trying to get everything done that needs to be accomplished. Usually I’m losing that battle! I finished the comfort quilt, and it is out for delivery today. I wanted to get it finished ASAP, as her prognosis isn’t good. I’m also working on a bridal shower gift for DGS’s fiancé.
Linda—you asked about the bottle board. No, I don’t have one for my two calves. I’m just out there holding on to two bottles. If I had three or more calves, I’d have to do something—not enough hands! Pocket Lint and Blackie have been coming around for feed, plus Little Orphan Annie and Blondie are on feed as well as bottles. I pull the hoses and water both sets.
Annie and Blondie are now yard calves and wander around grazing and laying in the grass. So far… they have stayed out of my hostas!
Mary—I’m so glad I don’t have neighbors to deal with here! I may be removed from conveniences, but so many less headaches with neighbors here. Sure hope things get solved with Vicky! No traffic here, either!!!
Tina—If I babysat for anything other than dogs and calves, I’d be exhausted, too!
Linda—that’s way too hot for me! We haven’t had those temperatures for a couple of years. With all that rain in Texas and now Tennessee, it would be nice to share here as well. We are so dusty, the air is heavy… not nearly as irritating as smoke. We have a plethora of flies here. I need to look up my Featherweights dates again. One is pre WWII, and one later.
Becca—some days if DH comes home hungry early we have lupper. Generally it’s brunch and dinner here. Wonderful news on your bloodwork!!!
Jana—I may have to try the window cleaner. We have prints everywhere, but especially in my truck!
I made DH his potato soup from leftover baked potatoes, and it really was good last night with grilled cheese sandwiches. There’s enough for a big bowl for DH tonight and a sandwich to go with it. I’m going to make a chicken and cheese quesadilla with some left over chicken fried chicken from Wednesday night for myself. We had dinner at the bar Wednesday evening for DGD’s 16th birthday. It was a fun family evening. I made her a birthday cookie today for her party and delivered it earlier. She wanted lots of candy on it for the “sweet” in sweet 16. I obliged. That’s what grandmas do.
On to go work on my shower gift. I’m making a set of napkins and purchased the napkin rings from her registry. I learned how to make mitered hems with this project.
Bon appétit!
