SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Aug 12th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Aug 12, 2017 3:18 am

Good morning. I got up late this morning - 5:30 - and it's still dark! The summer light is waning! I will miss all the light, and our evenings spent on the deck, having dinner and watching the TV we put out there, but sitting on more comfy furniture in front of a fire is cozy, too, so I won't fuss too much about seasonal change.

CHICKIE - How bittersweet to see your babies acting like grown-ups! But it's what you raised them to do. But I miss them! But now you'll have more sewing and mopping time! ;o)

TINA - congratulations on the new DGS!! Do I remember correctly? Did you say they named him William? (if so, how could I forget that?? Please don't tell my hubby of 25 years, WILLIAM!)

LINDA - You will feel so light and airy after this retirement thing is all done that you will have the sensation of simply floating away! But take your motorhome with you and ENJOY!!

JANA - so what did you study in college? How fun for Sarah and family to go chase the eclipse. Ethan will remember this always. What's the 'skinny' on your Skinnies? How many have you finished now?

BECCA - Bummer about the blood work. Linda asked a good question: How do you feel, physically?

IRISH - yoo hoo! It's time to check in! You know we worry . . .

Today we're going to my son's for a BBQ. I'm not sure what's on the menu, but we're to take baked beans and a salad. I'm also taking the blackberry crisp. It's just too much for Bill and I to eat on our own. But off to the grocery store first!

What's going on in your world today?

Good morning!

The skinny on the skinnies is I have three completely done and two almost. I need some black embroidery floss to finish up the snowman and the blanket stitching on the other. Went through all my Christmas fabric and need a piece for a border for another that will have peppermint striped candies on it. At one time I had a piece like that, but it has gotten used up, so need some more. Humm, a trip to the LQS! My boo-boo, there is one more finished, my pumpkins!

Back at college, I studied to be a elementary school teacher. I love teaching little ones.

Dinner came out very good. Still needs tweaking as I didn't have a glaze on the beef, but I can remedy that. Tonight will be tortilla soup. I could make that every week and Michael would be happy!

Tina - congrats Grandma! What a sweetie he will be. He has a great name, Matthew! I have a Matthew and he is wonderful! Just the right size and weight!

Time to go,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good late afternoon from sunny, warm, gorgeous, Sw. Pa....
I know I've been MIA for a couple of days and I think I've eaten...But, it's just been one thing after the other and there are days when I haven't even turned on this machine....

Mary, you getting up before it gets light makes me cringe! There were days when my eyes would automatically open at 6:00, then it started getting later and now, well, we don't want to go there......Sounds like you're going to have a fun dinner today and blackberry crisp to top it off, don't get much better.....

Chickie, I feel bad that the babies are growing up and wanting to play with the "big cows"...Guess you have to wait until next season for some new babies, huh....Was thinking of you earlier while looking through a quilting catalogue and there was a whole page full of chicken quilt patterns...But, knowing you, you probably have all of them.....

Hi Becca, Hope all is well in your neck of the woods...Praying things will work out with your blood.....Take care my friend.....

Tina, Congrats on that precious bundle of joy...I saw the picture on FB...Little miracles gives us all hope...He sure is a cutie.....

Jana, some how I figured you were an elementary teacher..Have never met you but just in reading, you're well suited...It takes a special person to give those little ones the right beginning.....

So far today, I haven't accomplished as much as I had wanted but then that's par for the course, lol...Every night, when I crawl into bed, I mentally make a list and I'm not sure what happens to that list by the time I get up....My neighbor just came bearing gifts, a very nice zucchini, which will be so darn good...And as always, we had to sit and complain about all we're not getting done, lol...
Yesterday was Jim's VA doctor's visit and physically, he's doing very well and his blood work was perfect...When we were done, I asked if he wanted to get something to eat and right away, he said he wanted a Frosty from Wendy's...When I took him back, he made sure the nurses knew he had his Frosty and part of mine....Not sure if I had mentioned this but now my sister needs to have a heart cath and possibly a stent AND they have her scheduled on the 22nd...Doc said, even with the stent, she should be OK to travel on the 26th.....

As for my dinner, I have a zucchini that will be cooked very slowly in lots and lots of butter...Just picked a bunch of grape tomatoes so will mix up a salad to go with.....This is my kind of eating............

You all have a great rest of the day.....

Happy eating.............
