SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, June 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jun 10, 2017 3:14 am

Good Morning!

It's a damp morning here, but at least it's not 'coming down from the sky' damp. Yet.

Yesterday I got my binding on my FGV and also got my bike quilt quilted. I brought up the photo of it over in PHOTOS. Tina posted it last winter for me while I was in TX. Today - I plan to bind that. Guess I need to get busy making some labels. Also in today's plan is to clean our master bath, sharpen the kitchen knives, and, if it's not raining, stack more wood, and lay out my new clothesline. The old one was a casualty of Vicki. When we moved our RV shelter back 10 feet, we had to sacrifice our holly tree, some landscaping, and my clothesline and I miss all of it, but REALLY miss my lines!

And speaking of Vicki, she has been really quiet for the past month, just watching us all the time. She struggles to cut her 15-inch tall lawn with a weed-whacker which scares the heck out of us as her muscle movement is wild and uncontrolled, but if we get close she yells at us to get off her property. She also yells when Bill mows close to the line. He used to mow her yard for her, but not now. Her kids tried one day when they were visiting, but it's too much for a regular lawnmower. They need the tractor and brush hog - which we have. Oh well. It gives her a visual of the approximate property line and she hasn't messed with it lately.

IRISH - I know you are enjoying a little getaway with Terry and the boys! Hope the weather is fantastic and you are having some fun! Jana reports that your Penguins seem to be doing well! She's keeping her eye on them for you!

TINA - You are very welcome for the rain! We have more than enough to share! Glad your mom is improving and eating. Like any other machine, the human body (and mind!) won't work properly without the right fuel and nutritious food is our fuel. I used to work in a care facility before I moved to NICU. Many of the elderly there used food (or, more acccurately, refusal of food) as a control tool, especially when family was around. It's an attention=getting technique and one of the few things in their lives that they feel they can control.

CHICKIE - I hope our day turned out as planned! We also have salmon berries, huckleberries, red huckleberries, thimble berries, black caps, and Oregon grape, all here in our yard, growing wild, along with all three varieties of blackberries. At least the plants do. Not too many berries as we have too much shade. And we have NO chiggers and very few ticks. And not many mosquitos either! But having gotten into chiggers once in CA near Folsom, I cringe at the memory every time you mention them. Your babies are doing so well and are so cute! You can grow flowers next year.

BECCA - have you ever considered making a trip out here to visit your DGS (and me, of course!). You could pick some of these wild berries we have with little to no tick risk. You and Irish could make the trip together!

JANA - I forgot about boysenberries! I'm sure they are here but not wild. Only in the berry fields, maybe in Puyallup, about 25 miles from me. And here's a factoid: Chickie's DH used to live in Puyallup as a kid! And THANK YOU for giving us the info on Irish's Penguins. I've been wondering how they did.

As for supper, we have fajita stuff left over and some rice, so maybe that with a salad will be enough. and we have lots of watermelon!

Good morning!

What else does a sports junkie do, check in here first, then go check the scores of all the games! LOL

I need a run to the grocery store. Michael hates going on Saturday. I am leaning towards some burgers on the grill.

Mary - you get so much done! 2 quilts finished and I still have Michael's on the LA. I am almost done with the first row of blocks. LOL I am practicing different stitches and did a big boo-boo. I used dark thread on the light areas, of which I am not pleased. But will finish it out and not make that one again.

Well, off to get a few uglies done. It won't be long until my Karlie is here for a short visit.

Enjoy!

Hi fellow dinner pals. I almost posted on the wrong day's post. One day rolls into another so quick.
I got a few more rows together on my next quilt project. This one is Star Wars theme. It's taking shape quickly.
Put some B-B-Q /sloppy joes to most people, together for a quick meal tonight. Heading out to dance. Starts at 7pm.
See you all at the table.
