SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, May 28th
Good Morning,
Our BBQ yesterday was great fun! We all sat outside, campfire going, and played board games. Big Bang Theory Trivia and then, after a few bottles of wine, Uncle Wiggly. The kids laughed and laughed, reading the cute little rhymes on the game cards. The 'kids' ranging from 41-52! Also, my son finished his book yesterday and brought me a copy of his manuscript! So we had champagne to toast him and wish him success with it. I plan to start reading it today. He asked me to read with a red pen in my hand. He says it's a Seattle wilderness mystery.
I'm also repairing a quilt I made for my massage therapist's table years ago. Part of his massage is done through the quilt, getting muscles warmed up and he's worn holes in both sides of the quilt and on both ends. So there's a lot of repair work to be done here - 4 18" square patches.
And I will work some on stitching down the applique pieces on my DS & DDIL's Garden Medallion quilt. I'm working on the borders now. If you'd like to see a photo of it, you can Google it. It's a Kim Diehl pattern.
TINA - you texted me last night that your mom was off the vent and now on C-pap. Sorry I couldn't respond right then and by the time I could, it was too late. Continuing prayers for her.
IRISH - Can't tell you how happy we all are to have you back with us once again! Such big adjustments in your life and I know they are incredibly difficult, but you will get through it all. You are a woman of strength and survival. Hugs to you and also to Jim! Glad you have at least half your uglies done. And even more glad that your purr-babies are your priority, so you had to stop and give them their attention they were requiring! Good luck to your Penguins!
BECCA - you are working so hard in your yard, it must be a real showplace by now! The deer will love dining in such a pretty place!
CHICKIE - I'm still waiting for that blackberry cobbler!! You would have liked the 'cake' my DDIL brought for my son yesterday. Or not. It was a big cookie! But from Mrs. Fields. Between you and me, it tasted like wax. And it wasn't even a tenth as well decorated at your big birthday cookies. But Mike and Emily were pleased with it. And you weren't here . . . so we had to make do. But I think you need to give Mrs. F some lessons!
JANA - I loved your comment about 'how does it feel to have a son older than I?" My mom always claimed to be 29 and her age was her business and our ages were our business! Eventually she had 6 kids older than she! lol!
Today will be leftovers - again. But some are new leftovers: watermelon, fruit salad, chicken, and pie. And we're happy to share with any dropper-inners if any of you take a notion to stop by!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, May 28th
Good morning from a still dreary, chilly, SW. Pa...We did have some sun and promises for more as the day goes on.....Just not a good day for most places to be opening their pools, brrrr.....
Mary, so happy to hear the party was a success even with Mrs. F's cake, lol...My Mom was also kind of secret about her age until she got older and then she'd brag about being in her 70s and still showing those young nurses she worked with, the way things were done, lol...And you are so right about who rules the roost in this house..I do almost everything around the purr-babies, which includes running the vacuum only when it doesn't disturb their naps..I have a feeling BabyGirl is still missing Jim...She starts off the night with me and then in the mornings I find her in the other bedroom, snuggled up close to Jim's pillow...I haven't been able to sleep in there and as yet, haven't changed the sheets, just want to keep him there as long as I can.....And Mary, there are lots of times, you wouldn't think I was very strong.....
Becca, As Mary said, your yard must be a showplace....Are you taking time to sit on your swing? I keep thinking one of these days, it's going to warm up enough here to finally get outside....Hope your weekend is a good one.....
I'm going to scoot...Need to jump in the shower and gather up Jim's things and be on my way...One of the 1st things they had told me when Jim went to this place was my role would go back to being the wife instead of the care giver and I'm noticing that already...He does call me by name (most of the time) instead of "her" or "she"..The last time I was there, one of the nurses asked his wife's name and he didn't hesitate and then she asked about kids and he proudly said, 5...He also wants to sit close and we might not talk but he wants to hold my hand......
So, that's my day....And I have no idea what will be on my plate when I get back...I might stop and get some soup fixens and of course more cereal, lol.....
Happy eating..............
You all have a great day and a very blessed Memorial Day....
Today, I'm taking Jim his gorgeous red/white and blue QOV quilt...I was kind of afraid to leave it because some things do disappear but I'm putting a big sign in his room that it's not to be removed for any reason!

Hello everyone,Nice today at 70 but windy.Bad storms in our area last nite but we only had rain.Im thankful.
Maryz This place is far from a showplace.I used to keep it that way but can't now.Just too much work.I have a place between us & closet house which is about half a football field. Its filled with dogwoods Holly ,& all kinds of flowers.Thats hard to keep up.Bec little seedlings want to sprout up.And the deer love that area.
They love lots of my flowers & ground cover. The Mtns Laurel is in full bloom now & its gorgeous. On both sides of House ,at back & lines our live on one side. The oxygen man came on Friday & commented that he loved how we kept our house.I told him not like it used to be but it is a beautiful place.Im sitting on the porch facing the Mtns.
Oh your sons book sounds wonderful.Congrats to him & hope it is a good seller.
Irish I too know just how you feel about being the caregiver. Its definitely not like the wife role.So happy he knows who you are again.I would be Leary about leaving the quilt.Everything my DMIL was given walked away. They even took her rings but my DSIL made such a stink that they turned up.We took them & replaced them with cheap ones.
Tina Praying its a better day for all of you.My thoughts are with you.
Yesterday the dryer delivery was a big deal They got here after 5 & DH took the bi fold doors down to make it easy for them.Well he couldn't get them back up right.I took a stroll outside to get away from the ordeal as my BP has been high due to pain from Neuralgia.Well he finally got it back on properly this morning.
We are having pizza .Have a wonderful meal. Becca

Good morning!
Sitting out on the soft chairs in the foyer of the church. I am paying for all the walking I did this week. My face is glowing quite pink right now, helping Michael in the yard yesterday, I got a little toasty! It will be a tan by tomorrow. Never stay burnt for very long.
Dinner is at Matt's tonight. All will be there. I am bringing the afters - lemon cream puffs and rice krispie treats.
Aaron and Kate are either home now, or will be shortly. They went to the show in Vegas last night and then drove home from there. I think it is about a 8 hour drive.
Sarah is putting the finishing touches on the koi pond, before the grass goes in this week.
Yesterday as we turned on the sprinkler system, nothing was coming out. Michael checked and another pipe broke, so the hole filled up quickly. Tomorrow we will get the pipe replaced. Yesterday and today is doing it the old fashioned way, hose dragging.
Since this is the supper club, go and read my sew in post for what Mattx's kids did to christen the new rig on the camping trip. Never dull with 5 kids!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, May 28th
Good afternoon! I’m late here… calves, laundry, shower for me, brunch pancakes for DH… just another day in paradise! We are WARM! Ticks are out in full force, but they really never went away. I swear they fly and end up in my hair! I just found two!
Mary—congratulations to your son on his manuscript finish!! ! Everyone needs an editor and proof reader; you’re a friendly one! I’m impressed you like my cookies better than Mrs. Field’s. Thank you!
Mom loved the cobbler yesterday! I scored pretty well last week with the banana and strawberry breads, fresh strawberries and biscuits, and the blackberry cobbler yesterday. While we were having lunch, we had quite a fast rain storm—the sky turned black, and I had a tornado alert on my phone. I looked at the radar, and nothing was in our area, so we kept eating—priorities, you know! The rain only lasted a few minutes, then the sun came out. The best thing was the drop in temperature, and it cleaned the air from the dense muggy un-breathable morning.
Irish—so glad Jim knows who you are! It’s hard to know what to leave in even the best care facilities. Sounds like Jim has a lovely abode and hope everyone is honest. Kitties know if someone is missing in their home. Mine looked for their doggie pal and then my late DH. Have a lovely afternoon!
Becca—you have a HUGE yard! I cannot imagine keeping that up!!! Sounds like you have a beautiful setting! I doubt any place in North Carolina isn’t incredible! Years ago I was in the Hiwassee area on the Georgia border, and it was lovely even in December!
Jana—my baby turns 50 this year, and Mom and I were talking yesterday about it. I’m not THAT old, myself!!! I don’t know what happened to her. I was 21 when I had her and stayed at that age for ages, as long as I could get away with it. My aunt claimed to be 29, and I knew I was way younger than she was!
Uh… dinner tonight. I think I’m going to try to find some leftovers. I know the fridge is full, so hopefully I can find some compatible items and add a salad. We had Ballpark Franks last night for a change. I grilled them in the skillet, and it felt like a Memorial Day picnic. I don’t know what made me buy them, as I usually don’t like hot dogs that much, but these were all beef with no nitrates and lots of flavor. Mustard, dill relish and chopped onions made me a happy girl.
Bon appétit!

Hi
We ate green Chile bacon guacamole cheeseburgers and a salad
Jana, I love our sprinkler systems! We've had the one in the front yard for around 10 years I think, Kevin and Frankie put it in. The one in the backyard Frankie did most of it and then redid it a couple weeks ago with a bigger line and now it works great!
Chickie, I'd say you scored too, of course I'm jealous from here from not getting any
Irish, I'm so glad you're the wife again and I bet that hand holding is the best thing since sliced bread!
Becca, thank you. You're place sounds so beautiful!
Mary, your party sounds like so much fun! No problem
we're all good.
Mom is off of most things now, she still has the drain tubes. She can talk but nothing is making any since. She won't drink, have ice chips or eat, they said if she doesn't by tomorrow they're going to put a feeding tube in.
Tina
