SUPPER CLUB - Fri, May 26th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri May 26, 2017 3:32 am

Good Morning!

Our dinner last night was a success! Nothing burned and it all came out hot at the same time! It was a nice evening with good friends. Today is a lull before family BBQ tomorrow for my son, Mike's birthday. I swear the 'kid' was just born, but this is his 42nd birthday. I became a gramma at 42! Where do the years go?

Today I will be doing the Maytag Mambo. and in between loads I'll be working on my Garden Medallion which is for Mike and his wife, Emily. Lots of applique in center and on four borders. I have it all fused, so now I'll be working on stitching it down. And since the weather will be awesome today, I may spend a bit of time on our deck, reading a book!

I do have one question: Did any of you by any chance send me a stuffed cat? I received a grey stuffed cat in the mail. It came right from China with no card included. Just the cat. My family all denies sending it and ditto all my 'visible' friends. So now, I'm asking my INVISIBLE friends. I've had several folks willing to take the credit but no one is stepping up to accept the blame! lol! It's a mystery!

IRISH!! You're back!! It was so good to see you post yesterday. I am so sorry for all you're going through. sometimes, life just plain sucks. But you have a loving heart, a good attitude, and an awesome family, not to mention all your strong-shouldered friends. You will get through this. Are you still going to the chiropractor? It's taking time, but mine is slowly getting me back in shape. I'm glad to hear Jim is doing well in his new environment and that you re able to spend time with him most days. Do you take handwork to do while you are there? I used to do cross-stitch while sitting with my dad and watching the Mariners play.

LINDA - even if you weren't camping, it must have been fun to at least be "playing with your toys"! I HATE when those blinds need re-stringing. Usually Bill does that because I just get frustrated and have no patience. I hope you can get out soon and enjoy your rig. Just think - in mere weeks, you can go out on weekdays and not have to wait to join the crowds on the weekends!

BECCA - sorry your day was all discombobulated, but at least you got REAL mac & cheese at the end of it!

JANA - sounds like Kate's moment in the spotlight was a hit for the entire family, especially Aaron! lol!! I feel like I got my Rx sunglasses back, too. I had them tightened yesterday and they finally got it right, I think!

CHICKIE - how was Tasha's graduation? Did she come home with you? You weren't late with the babies' supper, were you??

TINA - how is your mom? For those who didn't know, Tina's mom is back in the hospital. As of late last night, she was in ICU. Sending her prayers and best get well wishes as well as hugs for Tina.

Dinner tonite will be all about leftovers! Grilled chicken, brussels sprouts au gratin, twice-baked potatoes, watermelon, and apple pie. We will be having to freeze some of it, I think 'cuz tomorrow we'll be doing it all over again with family.

Come on over! We have enough for everyone!

Good morning :)
Irish it was so good too see you post yesterday! I was going to post yesterday but my day kinda fell apart.
Mom went in to have her lung drained on an out patient service and all went fine, they left and got about 10 minutes down the road and she started having bad bad pains so Dad tookher back and they started doing cat scans and said she had blood. This is where I got called, and I was under the understanding that it was simply going back in with a needle to drain the blood out. It turned in to full blown surgery. She was totally put under anesthesia which they've always said would kill her, and it almost did. ... well technically it did, her heart rate went down to 19 and the cutoff is 22 but 1 Dr wouldn't give up on her and brought her back. She's on a ventilator thing, under sedation and they will try to start weaning her off of it over today and tomorrow. We don't know if she will wake up from this our not right now. Any and all prayers would be greatly appreciated. She did make it through the night and that 1 Dr stayed with her all night until 8 this morning. Dad went home around 11 and he's heading back with the motor home right now.
I have all 3 kids and Frankie home but Holly knows if I need her to get the kids then she'll have Adam come get them. We still have our last day of school party, I can't disappoint thekids, they've been talking about it all wweek. I'm thinking we'll be in Cruces at supper time so I don't know what supper will be.

Good morning!

Mary - I am innocent of the kitty - but if you need someone to take credit, I can do that! LOL I love it when a meal comes together, hot all at the right time!

Dinner - we will see, who's around and shows up. Matt might ge camping with his new toy, Sarah is having lawn curbing poured in her backyard. So she may show up and see what I am cooking and if they can mooch over here.

Matt's BIl, parked the rig in it's place for Matt last week. Matt called and ordered a bigger gate, so it will be easier to get it in and out. The rig's pad, rock and gravel, needed to be slightly wider, so Stu dug it out to achieve that.

Aaron and Kate will be leaving for Vegas tomorrow. Guess I will have it quiet around here. You are laughing now, right!

Time to get stuff done,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! I started here yesterday, but DH came home and I had to make his brunch. I sat with him for a bit, then I hit the road—first a stop to let Ava out, then to let Choc and Maggie out, and finally on the road to Pittsburg. I had lunch with DD at our favorite Chinese place (menu only, no buffet so it’s always fresh and delicious), then we hit the Salvation Army, a cake supply shop (colors and tips), and picked up Tasha from school. At the Army, I found two pair of jeans, and a cute purse for me, and two shirts for DH. The graduation ceremony was nice. There were 216 in her class (one middle school for city-wide except for the Catholic school). I picked up some chicken on the way home, and everyone was happy. The calves weren’t too late with their dinner. Of course, they had all day to eat grass, feed and water. It’s just milk replacer at night. They are always happy to see those buckets on the way out the door!

Today—got up and fed the calves. I put out more feed and filled their water containers. I came in wearing milk and hopped in the shower. Somehow I finally got a cup of coffee and did the Dyson Dance around the floors. I really need to mop them now, but I wanted to check in here first and have another cuppa.

Irish—it’s so good to see you back!!! I totally empathize with you and your empty house. I know Mary can, as well, although our situations were different. Yes, cereal was my friend. I’d also make a big pot of some kind of vegetable soup with barley or something healthy and have a bowl of it every night for a week at supper time. I agree with Mary about your wonderful attitude, loving heart, etc. You’re my hero! You have us, too, as part of your support system, and we are here to help carry you when you falter.

Jana—such great news of Kate’s performance, but we knew she’d be awesome!

Tina—prayers for you and your family. So hard to sit and wait, watch, and just be there in person or in spirit. As long as your mom is “out”, she is resting and healing.

Becca—hope today is much calmer! I never understand why something that seems so simple can become such a time-wasting mess.

Linda—your remodel sounds wonderful! I could be persuaded to stay home for it.

Mary—sounds like a fun evening! And another one tonight!!! It’s good to be you!!! I found one of the “The cat who…” mysteries and picked it up at the Army yesterday. I thought of you as I reached for it! This one is “The Cat Who Dropped a Bombshell”.

My DD has a baby quilt she wants me to make for a friend, and she got some fabric from e-bay to match some 10” squares I already had of a little Connecting Threads farm print from several years ago, so I’ll be working on it after I get started and finish my Sunbonnet Sue 3. Mine is Canada, and I am looking forward to starting on it. They are all so cute!

Dinner tonight… definitely chicken from Pittsburg along with salad, leftover chicken and rice casserole (for the starch), and maybe something green as well. I’m thinking I might do a blackberry cobbler and use some of the blackberries in the freezer.

Tomorrow I’ll be going in to town and having lunch with Mom after coffee with my friend. I may be late arriving here.

Have a great day! Bon appétit!

Well, today has dawned cloudy and cool. We should have waited for today to wash the RV, instead of hot yesterday. DH took it in early to have it smogged, and is now happily detailing it. He always takes good care of our vehicles. Because we have hardly used it in 9 years, it still has that new smell each time we open it after the winter storage.

I spent the morning on more strawberry, peach and nectarine dehydrating so now I am tired. Need a break. Because it is only 70 degrees I will be able to get outside later and look for worms on the tomatoes, do some rose deadheading and clean out the birdbath. A nice day all around.

Tina - prayers for your mother.

Jana - are you warming up yet?

Farm Chick - how long does it take the calves to grow up?

Dinner tonite is simple, leftover Chinese from last night! You all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
