SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 24th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed May 24, 2017 3:42 am

Good Morning!

We are home and have the trailer parked in its shelter. With Vicki glaring at us all the time (and often yelling) it's stressful. But before we parked this time, Bill got out the tractor and graded the gravel floor of the shelter to try to kill the grass that Vicki planted 'for us' over last winter. And we did come home to more planters, shelving units on their sides, chairs, etc, marking 'her' territory. Though she had it well into OUR territory, even on our cement parking pad, blocking our shop doors. We had to move it all to get to our back yard. She was outside when we got home, but ran inside quickly.

As I was unpacking the trailer, I lifted up the bed to get to the storage area underneath and the hinges holding the mattress platform broke. So that's one more thing Bill has to add to his to-do list. I'd like him to do a bit of quilting, but the poor guy already has a list of must-do's as long as Vicki's 'Wall'. so I haven't mentioned quilting to him at all.

TINA - it's almost vacation time for you! Two more sleeps!!

CHICKIE - your life is brim-full! Hope you can find a bit of sewing time one of these busy days! Congrats to Tasha! Are you going to her ceremony? When is her first visit to you planned?

BECCA - I'm sure your time with the little ones yesterday was golden! They sound so sweet!

LINDA - glad you are making a niche for yourself in your quilting group. Did your DH sell his practice or is he just shutting it down? Having had three GP's retire on me in 5 years, I feel for his patients. But I'm happy you both will be out from under all that and free to enjoy retirement. Any trips planned in that RV? When we both retired we took a 4-month trip around the country.

JANA - congrats to Kate! I'm sure she'll do wonderfully tonite! Is today her birthday? Didn't you say she was going to sing on her birthday? Setting up our sprinklers/timers is another of the big things on Bill's list. We don't have a sprinkler system per se`, but merely hoses and sprinklers around the yard with timers. Maybe one day . . .

HELEN - nice to see you join us here in Supper Club! and nice to know you've found a great "Supper Club', aka, your Brown Palace. Hope you have many enjoyable meals there to come!

I have a massage and then chiropractor this morning. Then we're going to Costco after that. Plus I have an Rx to pick up if I can remember. And DH needs to go to Home Depot. Busy morning! Maybe I can squeeze a bit of play time in this afternoon in my sewing room.

for supper - I think pork chops and baked potatoes and salad. We have these and they need to be et up! What are you "etting up" tonite?

Good morning! It’s clear and cool here today. Yesterday we didn’t make it to 60, and today we won’t make it to 70… tomorrow, it will be 80! I like the “almost 70” days the best for chores, walking, sewing… and only light breezes, not the Kansas wind!

The calves were full of it this morning—pushing, shoving, following me around. Blackie is getting physical now, so it’s pretty funny trying to stay vertical with both of them working on me. It’s really comical when I have buckets of milk in both hands trying to keep the milk in the buckets and stay standing and make progress towards the pen in the evenings… They are now out trimming the weeds, fertilizing, and looking for a place to lay in the sun for awhile as they plot their next adventure.

Should I say anything about your bed getting a work out, Mary, or maybe you just had it stuffed with fabric and it put a bind on the hinges… are they lesser quality than your other trailer?

The other dress I liked for the wedding is on sale, so I ordered it. I’m going to have TWO dresses in my wardrobe. Right now, I only have one skirt and LOTS of jeans. I’m excited to have a choice!

Yes, I’m heading over tomorrow to spend the afternoon with DD and go to Tasha’s ceremony. I wouldn’t be surprised if she were packed and coming home with me. We’ll see… Sometimes it’s just a spontaneous “meet me half-way” which works out just fine.

Linda—it would be nice to be youngest at anything! My DDS is one year younger than I am, and I’m past 70 more than I’d like to be, so I know he will retire eventually. I’ll hate looking for a new DDS.

Jana—know you are excited for Kate! She’s going to be great!

Dinner tonight… I’m thinking something maybe with chicken and rice… I need leftovers for DH tomorrow evening. I might go look in the freezer for pork chops… those sound good, too!

Bon appétit!

Good morning :)
I'm laughing Mary but I'm not gonna say anything about your bed ;) I'm sorry Vicki is back to her destruction. You're a better neighbor than I could ever be.
Chickie, those babies sure keep you hopping! Be careful they don't keep you tumbling though. What a fun time you'll have with Tasha!

I have an end of school party planned for Friday here! KFC with all the trimmings and an ice cream cake! Plus we're gonna try to find small smooth rocks for a summer project, we'll paint them and glue them on my little garbage can or on boards to make flowers, I saw it on Pinterest. The kids are excited to paint the rocks! I have the paint and brushes here and it's driving them crazy LOL

Yesterday I had pork riblets thawing for supper but forgot I had forgotten to sign a check on Friday so had to go into town and do that plus Frankie had to return a pulley so we just grabbed a half price burger when we were finished which freed up some of my evening so I washed the suburban LOL I was exhausted after that, sat and watched Prison Break for the hour then took a bath and went to bed.

Tonight are the riblets and I think I'll either make potato salad or pasta salad to go with andwe always have salad and I'm gonna give Becca's strawberry bread a try :)

Good morning -

Two things -

Mary - the thought just came to me that every time you leave to go camping for a couple of days, you take a picture, with a newspaper headline, so you have a dated photo of how the property line area looks. Then, when she has moved all the junk etc, over onto your side, another picture, with the date and then file a tresspass complaint with the police. Maybe after several times of this, the police can get the social workers involved and tbe help Vicki needs.

Now the other thought - I made a copycat recipe of Olive Garden's lemon cream cake. The cake stuck to my pan and fell apart. But the filling is absolutely yummy! Here it is

1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tub marscapone cheese about 6 or 8 oz.
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Mix the marscapone, powdered sugar, lemon juice until smooth, then add the whipping cream and beat until stiff. It is great as a cream puff filling. That is what i did after the cake flopped.

Yes, it Kate's bd. I think she is 23 today.

Enjoy,
Jana

Hello everyone, cloudy here & windy.Tornados are around but not here. The Mtns helps keep weather away from us,helps to break it up.

Maryz The Grands are funny. We asked Sawyer if he wanted any chicken pie.He said I eat chicken but not in pie. They tell it like it is.Tallualah wants to go to a salon for her manicure. She has play make up & loves it.She always wants to go upstairs& looks at everything then comes back down.

Jana Know Kate will do fine.Enjoy the game.

Chickie Sure hope you stay upright with those babies. Its sounds like you have your hands full.Enjoy Tasha's ceremony.

Tina I used to paint on rocks. And on canvas too but haven't in years.Should get back to it but have too many irons in the fire.Too much upkeep around here.

Haven't decided yet what I'll make.will be something with hamburger meat. Becca

Good afternoon!

Had Sloppy Jo's and salad last night. I was supposed to make it but DH came home early and was so hyper he jumped in and started cooking it. He said I was too slow. Now I know how to get him to cook, I will just go real s-l-o-w! LOL! Tonight is pork chops, squash and salad.

Mary - My DH is an optometrist. He took over this established practice 25 years ago and has built it up since then. He has a great reputation. However, we have had it for sale for 3 years and not one bite. Where we are located is high poverty and welfare and with the government paying us so badly, no one wants to buy a practice here. So we are just closing it and trying to liquidate all the equipment and inventory. If we can't sell the equipment, we will donate it to Doctors Without Borders. It is a real blow to DH's pride, to have NO one interested at all. Next week, Tues and Wed are his last days to see patients. The office will be open another 2 months to handle all the patient records releases, outstanding bills and payments and any glasses still on order. Only the office manager and occasionally myself, will be there.

Some stats on our RV: We bought it 9 years ago and it had mileage of 5100. Just took it in to be smogged and mileage said 5600. We call it our cabin on wheels because we have only ever taken it up to Kings Canyon (1 hour away). Hopefully, now that we have time we can travel farther away. Probably not this year because of closing the practice and renovation of the bathroom and sun room start next week. But we will fit in our usual run up the mountain as we can.

Farm Chick - we are working on the son of our former DDS now, and I found a GP that is only 41. So I think we are good for awhile now. But it will be weird to have to find an ophthalmologist now, I am so used to my DH taking care of everything.

High clouds and only 93 today. I gardened all morning then went in the pool (86 degrees) to cool off. We are so private that I don't bother with a swim suit which makes it much easier to just jump in and out. Thank heavens we don't have high humidity here, 6 months of summer heat.
