Psalm 53
Most people have a basic misconception regarding sin in thinking that we are sinners because we have committed sin and done wrong. However, the reality is that we commit sin because we are sinners. There is an inherent sin nature in each person that is called "Adamic Sin" because we have all descended in the flesh from Adam, who rejected God and sinned.
There is no exception to the sin nature. It is characteristic of everyone. Sin is not an acquired behavior; it is our natural tendency. No one, apart from God's grace and the power of His Sprit, does good or seeks after God.
Actually, our sin nature leads us to practically deny god, for to acknowledge Him requires us to recognize His moral nature and therefore our accountability for deeds which are contrary to His righteousness. So it's more convenient, although foolish, to simp.y deny His existence.
The appeals in this Psalm is that all would come under conviction, be aware of their sin and be put to shame, that salvation might come from the Lord, and God's people would be restored.
