Colorado

Post by honeybear73 » Tue May 16, 2017 1:42 pm

Next year my hubby is going to take me to Colorado. We will be going somewhere around the end of August beginning of September 2018. I am looking for some suggestions on what to see while we are there for a week. Thanks Jo

Estes Park is a cool tourist trap town. And there is a mining town I think called Gold Hill. The Budweiser Clydesdales are amazing. Denver zoo, museum of natural history, and the Denver mint are very interesting. And there's always Pikes Peak, Telluride, Aspen, Vail, Durango where you can ride the Silverton steam railroad, and Rocky Mountain national Park. If you stray a little outside of Colorado, there is a Mesa Verde, Cortez, and the canyons of Utah. Chaco Canyon, south of Farmington, New Mexico, is one of our favorite places with fantastic ancient Indian ruins. And Laramie and Cheyenne are both just over the Wyoming border. Fun frontier towns. Have a fun trip! It is very Beautiful state

The hiking in CO is just beautiful! So many places to see, but I would say, don't miss going up Pikes Peak! It's like sitting on top of the world. Also, I think it was called Garden of the Gods. Wonderful rock formations and other things to see there.
Enjoy! Joan

Even if you do not eat in Brown's Palace in Denver, just go in. They have valet parking. I had prime rib for Mother's Day, it was $16 worth of absolute joy and huge. I ate on it for 3 days. Littleton has quite a few parks and believe we are noted for the most parks in US. And, oh, if you go more North, Western SD has much to offer. It is beautiful.

Hugs,

Helen
