SUPPER CLUB - Fri, May 12
Good Morning!
It POURED rain yesterday. I hope today is better as Sue is arriving this afternoon. They will have about a 2-1/2 to 3 hour drive to get here from their house near the Canadian border. We'll be watching to see if them parking their RV on our guest cement pad near Vicki's property line upsets Vicki. She has been very quiet for the past 2 weeks.
CHICKIE - Your dress sounds purrfect for the wedding, though that second dress might be even more purrfect! Lets hope it goes on sale. I can't order skirts/dresses on line. Even Petite sizes fall to the floor and beyond on me! lol! This summer we are going to paint our downstairs family room and use your carpet cleaning solution. thanks for the tip! Here, we have bugs and slugs eating our plants. Even the marigolds.
LINDA - sorry you didn't get in any yard work yesterday. maybe today. And you sound like every wife I know when their hubbies retired, me included. Maybe, if he likes gardening, he'll take that over? she said hopefully . . .
JANA - I've been in my sewing room for ten years and I'm STILL moving things around! lol! Good luck with the Batt Cave!
TINA - hope you are feeling better! I need to check out the new ISBS swap, Never got on the computer yesterday after I posted Supper Club.
BECCA - is there anything that your DH WILL eat now? If so, maybe you can figure out how to pack more nutrition into that. Sounds easy doesn't it. I know it's not. When my dad was going through ca treatments my mom tried to entice him, too. He kept losing weight, but she gained 20 pounds!
VELDA - I hope you did a snappy two-step and put my name on it! I miss dancing. We have no place to dance here.
I have an eye appointment this morning followed by the chiropractor. Then a quick stop at the grocery store on the way home. Sue said they are bringing steaks. So I'm not sure if we'll have those tonite or my lasagna . . The steak will have baked potatoes or maybe twice-baked potatoes along with corn, asparagus, salad, whatever sounds good. The lasagna will have salad and garlic bread and ice cream for dessert. Sue and Kenn will be here for two nights so that's the menus for both nights. If you don't see me tomorrow, just know we'll all be having fun!
And I hope you'll be having fun with your supper, too!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, May 12
Good morning! Sun is shining today after a stormy day and part of the night. I felt so sorry for the calves, but they are fine today and ate “breakfast” with relish. I got up early and put on yesterday’s clothes to go take care of them—frazzled hair and all. After their care, I came in and took a shower to wash off all the feed, milk and “whatever” that rubbed off on me. I washed out the sodden feed, dried the bucket and replaced with dry. I also washed and refilled their water buckets. Now they are on the loose in the yard. Hopefully their pen will dry out today in the sunshine. Blackie is getting feisty, and I’m so glad to see it!
Mary—I hear you with the “poured” rain. I know we had close to 5 inches in the last couple of days. We are sodden, and the pond is full and running out the spillway. Sure would be nice to save some for later in the summer when we are crying for rain.
Good luck with Vicky while Sue and Kenn are there! Have fun!!! You can’t order on line because of length. I can’t order anything fitted online because of my extra long waist. I get away with separates and non-fitted waist dresses. Ages ago, my sister who is taller than I am gave me several of her dresses, and I couldn’t wear any of them because the waist hit me several inches too high. Forget tucking in blouses… they are never long enough for me. Wish my legs were long and my waist was short!
Tina—glad you got a day off! You need it! Hope you are feeling better!
Velda—I miss dancing too. DH and I cut a rug at one of the parties at DS1’s, but once a decade just isn’t enough. My late DH didn’t dance at all, so it’s been eons since I did any dancing.
Becca—I used to lace my late DH’s Boost or Ensure with ice cream and malt powder. He liked the malts and little else. Yes, like Mary’s mom, I gained 50 pounds while he was sick… stress weight (I didn’t drink his malts). I think it must be rats or something after the tomatoes. I may just give up if I can't find something to go around them. It's going to be hard to find any plants to re-set. I love the airing of the quilts! Will you have some on display? What a great show!
Linda—good luck with your DH! It’s definitely a transition. We were married a year with me retired before DH retired. His hard times are the rainy days and too cold to be outside days.
Jana—I need to take everything out of my sewing room and rearrange.
The view of birds out my sewing room window has been spectacular—rose-breasted grosbeaks, orchard orioles, Baltimore orioles and all the rest of the “regulars” and loads of humming birds. There are the occasional wood ducks and great blue herons on/around the pond.
We are joining DH’s former co-workers for lunch at a Mexican restaurant today. I’m hoping for leftovers for me, and I’ll figure out something for DH later…
Bon appétit!

Good morning!
Same ol, same ol here. Windy, but warm, dry and lots of sunshine. But, alas, rain the end of next week.
Not much going on here, still playing in the Batt Cave, the rearrsnging is getting moved again. One day it will be perfect! ROFLOL!
The ribs were moved to today. Matt came out yesterday to help Michael with maintenance on the tractor. Matt has a new church calling. Not quite as busy as when he was a Bishop, but still he will be quite busy. It is a Stake calling, working with other Wards. A Stake is a group of Wards, around 10. The Church organizes its members into these groups to be able to help as needed, and lessen the workload on the leaders.
So with the ribs will be a macaroni salad and something green.
Enjoy,
Jana

Late morning to you all:
Today is 60's, windy, overcast. Such a contrast from yesterday's 80's and sun. Not a nice day to be outside in the yard. Did get out to walk and pick snails early, though.
MaryZ - have a good visit with Sue and Ken. Hope your weather cooperates.
Chickie - could have used your carpet formula last year when we had carpet. Now it is all hardwood and just a mopping cleans it. Love hearing all about your animals, domestic and wild.
Tina - Glad you are feeling better. I hate feeling less than 100%. Such as waste of time.
Becca - Hope your massage makes you relaxed and unstressed. Love the idea of Airing of the Quilts. Our quild puts on a display every 2 years in the high school gym and this is the year. I will get involved for the first time. 2 years ago I did the computer part, but wasn't around to help with the actual display.
Jana - I have taken over the living room as my quilt room (stash is hidden in the guest bedroom, though) so it is visible to all. Forces me to clean it up on a regular basis so DH doesn't complain about the mess. Funny how easily everything gets jumbled up.
After running all over Fresno yesterday doing shopping chores, we just didn't feel like going out to dinner (our Thursday date night) so I went to KFC (yes, we have one in our small town). It hit the spot. Tonight is KFC leftovers with a different veggie.
When I was 17 and graduated from high school my Dad took me on a 6 week trip across the US to Connecticut to meet my grandparents for the first time. We took the southern route across and stopped in KY to eat at a Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant that everyone talked about. It was absolutely delicious and I have never forgotten how good it was. Who knew that in about 10 years, it would be franchised and so popular. No young person even knows what KFC means now, and how it all started. I was there!!
Since it is ugly outside, I am spending the day inside doing more medical insurance billing and catching up on computer work. You all have a wonderful day too.
