SUPPER CLUB - thursday, May 11th
Good morning!
I just typed a nice long post and when I went to hit 'POST' if went ker-blooey! Rats!
JANA - sorry to hear about your brother, but happy there were no problems
TINA - did Holly buy a new house?
CHICKIE - love hearing good news about Blackie! Describe your dress please, and thanks for carpet 'recipe'.
BECCA - happy flower planting!
VELDA - I have gotten my eyes checked every year since I was 11. I thought everyone did.
LINDA - we don't have many gr*****oppers here but we do have slugs! Ugh!! Slugs!! They eat everything. I don't watch those shows. I like comedies, DWTS, NCIS, and competition cooking shows.
Tonite's menu plan is pork chops, hot buttered noodles, peas, and salad. What's percolating in your kitchen for tonite?

Good morning!
What's perc-ing in this house is ribs! Yesterday on the way home Aaron and I stopped off at the SLCPD as his co-worker was doing a BBQ lunch for all the officers. Aaron picked us up a couple of sandwiches - yummy. This co-worker has won several BBQ championships. He is good! He is teaching Aaron the art of good BBQ. So that got my hankering for more BBQ.
Not much happening here - quiet day. I am still moving things around in the Batt Cave. Reading the novel that is the operating manual for Ruby.
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - thursday, May 11th
Good morning from the stormy plains. We had storms last night, and I was out in the rain hunting the calves for their evening feeding and to put them in the pen for the night. They were out behind the pen in the brush and trees. It had rained so much that the runoff from the pasture to the pond was coursing through the area. I called and bleated to them, and they showed up – behind me! They were happy to eat! This morning, they were ready to eat too, and I let them out. They are hiding in brush and trees somewhere as it’s storming. I’ll call them for dinner. Blackie is doing so much better; I’m so relieved! Thank you all for your prayers for my baby. She’s getting stronger and moving quicker. She still doesn’t run and kick up her heels, but she has Pocket Lint to instruct her. Lint’s a master at running and jumping and heel kicking.
Mary—my dress is a navy knit maxi dress from Eddie Bauer. It’s basically a long T-shirt. They had a 30% off sale on all women’s clothing, and I ordered it. The wedding will be navy and white. I’m addressing navy envelopes with white ink. I have a white jeans jacket that I’ll wear over it and dress it up with a big rhinestone pin. I also have my eye on another navy maxi dress on LL Bean. It has white polka dots, and would be perfect, too. If it comes on sale, I’ll order it and decide nearer to September 30. It’s an outdoor wedding at DS2’s farm. Now, I hope I can fit in it. I ordered XL and figure I can take it up if I need to, but there’s no letting it out.
I had my sister order Mom a corsage for Saturday night, and I’ll pay for it. I wanted to be a small part of the day although I contributed to her perm and new dress.
Velda—I keep forgetting to tell you that we have hummers in droves now. I saw my first one on Easter, and they increased every day after. At dusk there are 8-10 hummers around each of the 6 feeders I have up—3 in back and 3 in front.
Jana—Aaron can try his BBQ out on me any day! Sounds like a great dinner! Hope to see photos of Ruby! It’s such a learning curve on a new machine. I had a fun time when I upgraded to “smart” features. Oh, that’s so sad about your brother. So glad you got hugs from your nieces and nephews!
Becca—I’m having a hard time with my tomato plants. Something eats them down to the dirt—all the leaves, stems, everything. It’s not the calves as there are cages around them, and some are in the garden that’s gated. The others are on the back side of the house. They are even eating the marigolds that are planted around the cages! I love that you dreamed of Blackie!!!
Rose—see my post to Becca about my tomatoes. I wish I had some of yours! I usually get a bunch of volunteers that I plant for cherry tomatoes, but something is eating all of them, too. I can’t get them started much less bloom and fruit. We get gr*****oppers here, too, but later in the season. Isn't it funny how the forum edits gr*****oppers and adds the asterisks. I guess it knows we are swearing at their damage and adds it for us!
After brunch, DH is going over to the rental, and I’m having him drop me off at Mom’s for a quick visit before her nap.
Dinner tonight… smorgasbord… mustgoes… clean out the fridge…
The rain has stopped for now, so I think I’ll go out and see if I can figure out where the calves are hiding…
Have a great day! Bon appétit!

Good morning
Mary, Holly is going ahead and buying the house she's been renting, they close around the end of June I believe.
Chickie, I can't imagine what would be eating your tomato plants like that. .. maybe mice?
Jana, I love BBQ!
I took the day off today, just feeling to run down and tired.
Tonight will be leftover soup. I froze all day yesterday and covered up with 2 quilts but Frankie said it wasn't cold but he said my hands felt cool to him so I wasn't running a fever.I'm just weird LOL today seems cold too.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - thursday, May 11th
Morning everyone. DH is home on a Thursday for the first time, he has cut back to just working the first 3 days of the week. This feels strange and interrups MY schedule. When he is home I cook breakfast (because he does so much of the dinner cooking) and he wants to eat right away. His internal alarm is still at 6 or 6:30 though, and so having to cook breakfast so early means I can't go outside early. But this morning I thought I would just do my thing, go out early and walk, then out in the yard. Breakfast comes later. But when I got back from my walk he was still waiting for me to fix breakfast. Then he proceeded to let me know what we were doing for the day. Is this how it will be when he fully retires end of May? Lordy, lordy, lordy, give me some patience! We will have to have a talk!
So today we are going to the bank, going to Costco and then to the design warehouse to pay for all the bathroom fixtures for the reno. Guess no yard work for me, it will be too hot in the pm. Maybe I can sew instead. Nope, DH says I have to get all the Medicare billing done so we can tie up the accounts receivable as soon as possible.
Well, DH wants to go NOW...so have a great day and thanks for letting me into your lives for a little while...enjoy reading about all your doings.

Oh, Chickie, I am Jealous!!! I love it went we have droves of Hummers. I am hoping they will increase. We were late getting feeders set up again, two years in a row. Bet we missed out on the travelers. When the weather turns nice here, I am hoping I will have more. Tonight is dance night, so supper will be light and quick. I have leftovers to use.
