Psalm 49
We must never forget the costly price of redemption. God, Himself had to become a man and die; He had to suffer the rejection of men and the cruel brutality and shame of the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. It was the the shed blood of the sinless Son of God that purchased our redemption, not anything that we have done. And because of our faith and confidence in what Christ has done for us, when we die, our spirits do not go to some nebulous netherworld {Sheol}, but God will receive us. He is our security and our hope.
This life is relatively short. How foolish for people to give themselves entirely to temporal values and worldly accomplishments. We should not be jealous of those with wealth or status, nor should we be alarmed when we go through times of adversity or suffer because of the iniquity and evil intent of others. We need to heed the wisdom God gives us and gain the understanding that we can see all that is in this life from His perspective.
