SUPPER CLUB, Saturday, May 6th
Good Morning,
We are overcast and cool this morning, but not wet! yet. I got the laundry done yesterday and the family room cleaned. Though I didn't move furniture or wash curtains. Bad me. But from where you all are sitting, you can hardly tell! Today - cleaning laundry room, mopping floors, and washing throw rugs. Then into Tacoma for lunch with 2 other couples. I'm sure I'll find a little bit of sewing time somewhere and I even hope to get Bill to help me load the bicycle quilt I made last winter while In Texas. Time to get quilting all those tops I worked on in Texas!
TINA - so sorry you are sick! How can you even think of cooking enchiladas (or anything!) let alone taking care of little ones, when you feel like you described. I would be in bed, a pile of quilts pulled over my head. You are Super Grandma Woman!
CHICKIE - You should sell tickets to the Lint & Blackie Show! how is Blackie today? I envy you putting your wash on the lines. My clothesline, along with my holly tree, were casualties of the Vicki Thing. They were in the way of moving the RV shelter back 10 feet to allow a wider swing so we could get around our shop without touching tires to her grass. Sigh. Bill says he's going to relocate the clothesline, but so far that hasn't happened.
BECCA - glad you had such a nice visit with your niece. You had a lot of errands yesterday! You brought up your wedding gown and now I'm intrigued - describe please! I was married in Jan of 1971 and I wore a long A-line, scoop neck, long pointed sleeves, detachable train.
CHICKIE - your eggs goldenrod are similiar to my Easter breakfast or supper. Sort of an eggs benedict dish - sliced boiled eggs over toast and topped with white sauce spiced with Dijon mustard and a bit of lemon juice.
JANA - I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew's passing. So young! But on a happier note, you got your new machine! Yay for you!! Did you get it all set up yet? named? Did you trade your old one in?
CHRISS - you take perfectly yummy egg salad and then add T---??? Why would you do that? It goes against nature and the rules of this supper club!! But Bill is with Jerry on the eggs smelling up the fridge. When we eat the last dill pickle, I boil up some eggs, peel them, and pop them into the pickle juice for a few days. Yum!
LINDA - you, too?? more fish! We've sunk into chaos! I'm going to have to start handing out tickets instead of just warnings!! Here, if you MUST eat fish, it's referred to as "Mac & Cheese". I just can't abide anything that comes out of water! But I did love your photos. What a peaceful oasis you have! How often do you have to bathe Speedy? I bet he'd like to have the run of that pool! I might suggest, if you are looking for a new home for him, you change your sales pitch. "4 hours of scrubbing him and his stuff, leaning over the bathtub" may discourage a few of the interested . . . just sayin' . . .
Since we're going to a late lunch, we probably won't get home until 3:30 or 4:00 so I doubt we'll be supper-hungry. And we have a little leftover chicken and also taco fixings, so I'm thinking there will be no starving at our house today.

Re: SUPPER CLUB, Saturday, May 6th
Good morning!
Mary - you got me thinking on a name for the new machine. Normally i haven't named my machines. I did name my LA Robin and so now i have named the new one, Ruby. The machine is red and i had a great aunt, who was a quilter and her name wss Ruby. She lived in a apartment in her last years, didn't drive, so turned the garage into a quilt studio for her and her friends.
Dinner is leftover soup. I am working on ideas for tomorrow's dinner and meatloaf comes to mind.
Irish - you have been in my prayers for a long time, and nowci will make sure that i pay more attention in those prayers! You are missed and loved - take care!
Well, time to get going,
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB, Saturday, May 6th
So, this is what Oscar F***(aka Mac & Cheese) was. Sole, pan cooked in a sauce of chicken broth, lemon juice and green onion. Later cooked mushrooms put in. It actually tasted good, overrode the f***y flavor and was a little tart. DH is in an experimental mood and is going to make his own Chop Suey with chicken tonight. He has been out clipping bushes in the front yard all day, so he may be too tired. We will see.
Speaking of days, we were 100 yesterday again and today we are cloudy and 68! Crazy weather.
Speedy's cleaning was just too much for me yesterday. I could only do his filters and tubing. Today I did the actual tank cleaning (55 gallons drained, scrubbed of brown algae and refilled through the bay window) and scrubbed the algae off Speedy himself. So now all is clean for a month. Even the bathtub is disinfected and scrubbed!
We wanted to take a weekend up to Yosemite (only 3 hours away) now that the falls are raging and DH is only working Mon,Tue& Weds each week. But there is so much snow melt from the last hot days, that the Merced river is 12 feet above flood level. That causes all kind of problems and they may be closing things until the water recedes some. 3 people have died in the last week falling into the raging rivers up here. Better to stay home and trim bushes. LOL! Chriss is 1 1/2 hours north of me and we pass her town when we go to Yosemite. I always honk.
Well, time to give DH some ibuprophen and a beer...he did a lot of trimming today and if I want him to cook, I have to take care of him. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend and, as usual, prayers for all those in need.

Re: SUPPER CLUB, Saturday, May 6th
Just thought i share a good giggle with you.
Out in my dining room are two engineers, laying masking tape roads and fence openings. My FIL built a scale model of a semi truck and trailer for Michael when he was a small boy. It is a decoration on a shelf normally here, but now is being used as a practice rig, backing up and in the space to see if Matt's rig will fit. The two of them have been at it, doing the math calculations and now the model testing for several hours. Too many variables and they are not succeeding so far. Today at the church parking lot, Matt turned a little too sharp and broke the quarter side window out in the back of his truck. So the best suggestion by the senior engineer, Michael, was Matt needed truck driving lessons! Currently the fifth wheel is living at Matt's in laws.
Knowing both of them as i do, they will figure out all the ins and outs abd succeed. Michael has a motto - Never tell a engineer that he can't do it.
