SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 8th
Good Morning!
Yesterday I spontaneously ended up cleaning my closet. I went through everything and have 3 boxes of clothing and 1 box of purses ready for donation. I found things in there I forgot I owned! Some of it was a bit, uh, dusty. So I did laundry again and now I have stuff to iron. Today I might do my dresser drawers. Meanwhile, back in the sewing room, I've been working on the backing for my Lone Star. Chickie had a great idea to use the Texas panel I bought as the center of one big log cabin. Such a great idea! So that's what went down in my sewing room. But not quite finished with it yet. Hopefully today. I've also got my International Sunbonnet Sues almost finished, so they are also on my to-do list for this week.
BECCA - I think we're all anxious to hear how your twins and their mommy are doing. I'll be checking the forum several times throughout the day.
LYN - how nice of you to stop by! I saw you will be flying home to CO for a few weeks later this month to help with your dad. How is he doing?
IRISH - how is your sister doing? I realized late yesterday I forgot to ask about her! Sorry. I did offer up a special prayer with her name on it though. I've never used a pressure cooker either, but I couldn't cook without my crock-pots! I have three in different sizes. Plus a rice cooker that can double as a crockpot, too. My middle sized pot though has some serious cracks in it and so now I'm looking for a replacement pot at the Goodwill.
JANA - I'm so proud of Stu! He should be set up as a model for all young people to aspire to! I've seen Snow college! There is a branch of it in Richfield, UT, if I'm not mistaken.
TINA - you're welcome! We only speak the truth. I know you pretty well, and you are a natural sweetheart and deserve all hugs sent your way!
And now it's "supper-time", time to come up with an idea. I think Bill is up for grilling burgers tonite. and we'll have a salad on the side. I also have asparagus I bought at costco that I'm going to have to deal with today, so I may blanch that and freeze it for later use.
What's the plan at your house? You know, stew sounds kind of good, too, now that I think about it. I may change my mind. We'll see what the HOH says when he wakes up.

Good morning from a very sunny and getting a little warmer, SW. Pa...BUT, last night, we had wind! Wind so bad if it had been blowing to the west, I know I would have landed either in Kansas or further west....My poor fur babies were scared to death and for a minute, I really thought we were having a tornado but then I realized, there was actually a train going by, lol.....You know, when I sit here at night, my imagination really does run wild...But, today is gorgeous and It will BE A GOOD DAY!....
Mary, my sister is having her procedure tomorrow and supposed to not be serious but with her having so many problems, I just add her to my "worry list"...But, she is amazing, never complains and she really does have reason to...I used to go with her when she'd have things done and it was a standing joke between her DH and me, that we only went along because of the different snack bars, what we'd be eating and if the doctor needed us, just page the snack bar...Well, now, her daughter goes with her and I sure do miss those times, lol....
I think I'm as excited about your Texas quilt as you are...So anxious to see a picture...I think I'd really be letting Bill do those burgers, not often you find a fellow who is willing....
Becca, Count me in on that long list of anxious prayer saying people...I also will be checking during the day...Think only good thoughts, my friend.....
Jana, I agree about Stu being a role model...Not often or not often enough do you hear about young people who have their future planned...I have a feeling you had a hand in guiding him...Did you make that chicken or is that tonight?
Tina, more hugs for you, my friend...Just seeing your picture and reading your posts, I know you are special...And of course our Mary would never tell a fib....
You know how the best of plans kind of get waylaid? Well, yesterday's meat balls and sauce are now in the crock pot...In fact, I'm not even sure we ate dinner yesterday, we just kind of picked when we got home from our running....Today's errands are having my passport submitted, stopping at the Library and then picking up prescriptions...Yesterday's running wasn't good for Jim so I'm hoping today will be better...
we've been up since the crack of dawn but haven't gotten too much accomplished so far..But, I do need to run the vacuum and "redd up" the house before we leave....And do need to take care of a couple of bills...I don't know why the gal at the PO keeps putting these bills in my box, especially those nasty property taxes...
You all have a great day.....
Happy eating..............

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 8th
Well here I am again....like an old penny...I keep turning up. Lol
This is one busy week and I hate weeks like this. Every day I am out of the house, but soon the week will be over and hopefully next week will be calmer. This afternoon I have to min it or up in the sewing room. When that is done, I am done monitoring for the year. We have to monitor twice a year.
What for dinner..... Hmmm have no idea right now. Better think about that, but for now I am off.
Hope you all have a wonder day filled with fun.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 8th
Good morning! I spent all day yesterday in the kitchen making things to take for refreshments for Audubon meeting last evening. Somehow there was a snafu and four of us showed up with refreshments instead of two! Well, they really enjoyed refreshments, and I brought home a bunch as well. I put cookies and brownies in the freezer except for a few, and I have a huge bag of vegetables to nosh on along with the dip I made.
There was some excitement as people were leaving… a lady fell, hit her head on the sidewalk; her glasses made a big cut on her temple, and she was bleeding profusely. Her son said to call the paramedics, so I did. (Usually our son would have responded, but he didn’t go to work until today’s shift.) Anyway, the lady will be fine—a big goose egg on her temple, probably a headache, and a trip for new glasses. They did not transport her to the hospital but gave her treatment there. I donated a clean towel to the cause… one with chickens on it—what else! I had a bunch of them in my bag that had protected my glass plates for the refreshments, so I just grabbed one to hold against the wound.
When I came home, I put everything away and cleaned up the dishes I'd taken to the meeting. It was nice to get up to a clean kitchen, but I was one tired puppy last night. I went to bed, and my legs just kept twitching from being on them all day. I hate when that happens! They finally relaxed, and I slept and slept and slept!
Mary, you asked about the glass… somehow my sister makes casts/molds of the baby garment, then uses the mold to make a glass casting of the garment, fires it and enhances it with more glass. Her pieces are beautiful. She did Mom’s baby dress, her sweater, her daughter’s and grand daughter’s dresses.
Sometimes you can find crock pot inserts if your electric part is still o.k. I have one I use for a flower pot, and one I use as the dogs’ water bowl. I’ve seen them new at outlet malls.
I love the backing for your quilt as well as the front! They will be using both sides for display!
Becca—will be watching for the news!
Carole—some weeks it seems I’m never home. Crazy, for someone who is supposed to be retired!
Irish—Our wind would have blown you right on through and you wouldn’t have gotten to visit with me. You are always welcome!!! I’m sure glad you didn’t have a tornado—just a train! Our winds made the Hooligans sit up all wild eyed then dive for cover in our laps the other evening. I’ve been in one tornado, and it didn’t sound all that much like a freight train, although it was loud. Mainly it was clanging and banging—found out it was the steel siding being ripped off the sides of the church and rolled up like the old cans with the keys. My ears felt like all the brains I had were being sucked out—just one long “pop”. The whole thing probably didn’t last a minute… I can’t remember. Your sister sounds like a trooper and a sweetheart—I know you miss going with her! You are having a running couple of days! Will the meatballs in the crockpot prevent your car from turning in to those “special places”? I like how you have her trained for the best eateries. Oh, don’t mention the property taxes!!! YIKES!!!
Today, I definitely plan on my sewing room!!! I didn’t even open the door yesterday. Sew much to do… There will also be walking--to see Ava as well as Choc and Maggie. Ava will be excited to get to go on the longer walk with the big dogs. Have I mentioned, she's a little Silkie Terrier and just so cute.
Dinner… I think it will be red beans, rice and sausage. There will be a lot of cut veggies as well as snickerdoodles and brownies (either turtle or dark chocolate with mint… or both) for afters…
Bon appétit!

Good morning!
Yes, i did the chicken cordon Bleu last night - a keeper! The recipe is very simple.
Shred some chicken - i used a rotisserie chicken from the store,
Thinly sliced honey ham, or any ham cut into strips or chunks
Swiss cheese
Layer that with chicken first, then ham, then cheese,
Make a white sauce with a little dijon mustard, about a tablespoon. You will need about 3 cups of sauce. Just as the sauce is done, add 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice. It brightens the sauce. Now pour the sauce over the layered meat cheese, covering it all. Top with panko bread crumbs. Bake, uncovered at 350 for 45 minutes. It made a ton, so you may want to cut it in half for just two of us.
I have a DDS appointment in a few minutes, cleaning - i hate have toos!
Later my girls will be here, we are making snickerdoodle muffins - Kathy's recipe - teaching them not to make bricks! LOL
Mary - great idea on the back of the Lone Star. I knew you would master that star! The quilt i copied is for a friend in the Ward - this will be her third child and it's a girl. It would be done, except i put away my templates for the flower, so well i can't find them!
Chickie - DH will be happy theee was leftover goodies! Glad the the lady is fine.
Irish - next time the wind is blowing west, after a stop at Chickie's, you can stop here, before you reach Reno. I have kearned to tie down anything here, otherwise, we are looking for it in the next county! LOL
Carole with the e - soon it will calm down!
Tina - we love you!
Becca - prayers for ghose little ones!
Time to get going, even though i don't want too!
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning
The boys are watching Honey I Shrunk the Kids, they only watch a few minutes here and there LOL
Mary, you're so sweet. I envy your results from your closet cleaning but not the actual cleaning LOL
Irish, I can't believe the wind this past week, our March came in like a lion so I'm really hoping it will go out like a lamb.
Carole, I seem to hardly ever leave my house lately. ...I think I'm becoming a hermit. Some days I'd like to go and do but mostly happy to stay home, your week sounds like a very busy one to me.
Becca, prayers for the mom and babies.
Jana, your recipe sounds yummy!
Chickie, I had to get back up and walk around the house for about 10 minutes because my legs were so jumpy. ... drove me nuts! I didn't get to sleep till 2 ugh. ... my legs have been really bad lately and I don't know why. All your goodies sounded so good!
I'm not sure what we'll have for supper. I made spaghetti last night but the boys love it so I imagine they will make a dent in the leftovers for lunch. ... if there's enough left that'll be supper with a salad if not then maybe banned food and a salad.
Tina
