SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Feb 15th
Good rainy morning!
I've enjoyed the sunshine while it lasted, but it's nice to hear a soft rain outside, too. And my parched skin is so happy! I've been dry, flakey, and itchy for two months. But no more. Ahhhh . . . .
CAROL-LEE - ;o) Wills. Ugh. Hate them. I should update mine, too. One of these days . . . You must go to a small church. I doubt our priest knows the names (correct or not!) of 7% of his parishioners.
JANA - that's a lot of birthdays to cram into a week! January and may are like that in our family. I hope this latest rain doesn't worsen the condition at Oroville.
BECCA - I feel badly for your BF for losing so much to unscrupulous people. I have no idea how it's going to work out for our Vicki, whose house was put up at collateral for two other mortgages. A very good chance she will lose everything.
IRISH - happy birthday to your Jim! Give him a hug for me!
Today I hope to finish cleaning the trailer and getting it restocked with fresh linens, etc. We are hoping to go on a short camping trip to the ocean next month. Bill is going to do a small repair to the bathroom door and then build a few small shelves high on the wall in the BR to hold TP, etc. And then he's going to build my bookshelf - finally! I have to have my books when I travel and right now they are in a shoebox on my nightstand.
Supper. I never know until I get to this point in my post. I think we'll have the last of the pinto beans I made the other day. and we have a big russet potato I think I'll boil to serve under the beans. The way my mom often served her beans.
What's your plan for tonite?

Good morning,
The wills are taken care of and we will sign them next Tuesday. After that, one copy will go to our DS, Chris. He is in charge of all except Luke and he will go to Kelly in SC. Lol
We have name tags that we wear at Church and that is what Pastor Doug was reading. Lol Two Sunday's in a row he has called me Carol Lee. Lol. One of these days our Senior Pastor will hear this and correct him. Lol
You will find me in my sewing room all day today. Didn't get anything done yesterday and so I have a lot to catch up on today.
We are having baked pork chops today, potatoes and corn. Well I am signing off and going to get busy on those borders, hugs to all.

Good morning! Sorry I missed yesterday. I was here earlier but no one was at the table, and I had no idea what was going to be on mine… Went to town for some errands and to an eye appointment. Surprise! My eyesight has improved, and he dropped me back on my contact lens script. I couldn’t find any glasses I liked, so I didn’t order any. My time before last glasses are pretty much same as this new script, so I’m good to go. I have several different pairs of glasses that I can wear. I also dropped our tax prep booklet and info at the accountant’s office… ugh! The Hooligans went with me and stayed in the truck as I made my stops. I went to the bank, and they all sat at attention licking their doggie lips until the drawer opened and the treats were there. Everyone at the drive-in bank was laughing. I also stopped at Mom’s and took some quilt magazines and Audubon newsletters. Mom and my aunt were the charter members/spark plugs getting the local chapter started years ago. There are a few members left that were in the group when she still attended.
As for dinner last night… I couldn’t get excited about cooking anything, so it was taco salads—DH had leftover steak in his, and I had beans. I made some coconut pudding parfaits (with coconut and granola) for dessert and served them in wine glasses with a cherry on top.
DH had a meeting yesterday for his Area Agency on Aging, and as he left, I said “NO CHOCOLATES!” (No matter how much I like them…) I honestly didn’t think we were doing anything for each other… I’d gotten a new vacuum cleaner, and he had gotten his rifle worked on and another rifle just last week. When I returned from town, there was a box… on my quilt that I was sandwiching. I held my tongue and checked it out… it had a cute happy valentine’s message, and inside was an antique coffee grinder! Was I ever blown away!!! (We had a couple of neat ones that burned in the fire.) I think I may try it and see if it still works… it feels like it should.
Carole—I went to school with a girl named Carol Lee. Lee was her last name. We have all of our wills and trusts since we are such a blended family. Everyone knows and is o.k., so hopefully there will be no conflict.
Mary—there are advantages to living in a damp climate… one is dewy complexion.
Dinner tonight… I think I’ll go out to the freezer and see if I used up all the ham… those beans really are sounding good… and cornbread, of course. If no ham is left, I’m sure something else will find its way inside… unmentionable here? Who knows?
I got my comfort quilt sandwiched yesterday, and I’m ready to begin quilting. It will be simple.
Bon appétit!

Hello Everyone,Sunny but low 50s,not as warm & windy too.
Maryz I would think those mortgages would not hold up with her being incompetent. All legal matters states they must be of sound mind.I would fight tooth & nail on that.Any Dr would verify she isn't of sound mind I would think.Sure would try.
Carole hope you get the quilt done.Im hoping to get the girls in the frame today.
Chickie Your Holligans are a hoot.Sure everyone gets a kick out of seeing them.Sounds just like my Yellar used to be.Would sit in back with his head held erect. So cute.
Oh I do hope my day improves.Statrted for Town & couldn't locate my car keys.Went to town, came home, looked in coat pocket.there they were. What a relief.
DH had another mini stroke last nite. But he is up today,Always sleepy the next couple days.Oh well it's going to get better.
Leftover chicken pie here. Its as good the next day as first. And slaw,& grapes.DH has pastry from bakery. Becca
Irish Happy Birthday to Jim.Hope your day goes smooth sailing & the sun is shining.

Good morning!
I have been promoted to structural Engineer! Michael was having a difficulty in his garage shop design, and I solved the problem! It was bringing a point load to ground. Some days I am smarter than the average bear! LOL!
Irish - Happy Birthday to Jim! He has a very special Wife!
Mary - oh the beach and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. You learn how to deal with being dry - lots of lotion! I have finally adapted.
Carole- with the one e- we need to get on the Will band wagon here too. I am the one dragging my feet. Michael wants to get things in order and even buy a cemetery plot - not that I am superstitious, but I have a large aversion to that. We will get to it this Spring.
Chickie - very thoughtful DH! I am in the mood to head out on a antique collecting trip. Michael has said yes, after the kids are gone.
Becca - I put my keys and money in my coat pocket all the time. Nice surprise some winters when I reach in the winter coat pocket and find money!
Dinner - I think the chicken and zucchini will appear tonight. The kids wanted the polksa broccoli tortellini last night.
Speaking of the kids - their house has been up in the air again, getting them wondering if and when, but the builder sent a email saying middle of March! Whoo Hoo! I have been good and not said let me help you pack yet! LOL
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from chilly, dreary and expecting snow, SW. Pa...Oh well, this is winter....
Mary, glad to hear you're back home and things are seemingly OK with neighbor, Vicky...You know, it would break her heart to know she's been doing "strange" things and not being too neighborly...Oh boy, camping at the ocean, sounds like a dream....
Becca, so sorry to hear about Dh's mini strokes...It is strange how they hit out of the blue but do leave you weak...Remember those days so well...But, just another thing for you to worry about..Missing keys must be going around...I normally have the 2 sets in my purse and could only find 1 until I also got back home and sure enough, right in my jacket pocket, where I never put them...Your gremlins must be related to mine...We don't have the sun today but it's still going to be a good day, I have that feeling...
Chickie, I love to hear about the fur babies and their antics..And I often think, how lucky are they to have found you...Boy, what a neat gift from your hubby...You know, he does sound like a super guy, a real keeper.....
Carole (with the e). I also went to school with a Carol Lee, seems to have been a popular name...And I have a very good friend who has an e like you..We had our wills and other stuff taken care of last year and I swear the only thing of value will be a wooden cutting thingie shaped like a pig...All the kids want it so in the will, we left it to Kathy with each of the boys getting equal visitation..I often hear about kids waiting for the reading of the will and feel sorry for those who are thinking about that big boat they're going to buy...My kids know, in our case it would be more like a rubber blow up raft or an inner tube....
We just had a very nice visit from Ted and his wife, Donna and of course they brought Jim a funny card with a cat on it...AND also brought a box of apple fritters..Remember me telling you about these great neighbors????The flooring fellow was to come but called and asked if he could stop tomorrow, so, now that gives me time to play in my room.....
For our dinner, left over ham/cabbage and potatoes and for afters, yummy apple fritters..........
Happy eating.................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Feb 15th
Good Evening, Well, my live-in chef (DH Rod) has a nice roast in the crockpot. He just peeled some taters so we can have taters and gravy with it too. Veggies are in the crockpot too.....carrots among other things like onions and yellow peppers. All I need to worry about is the clean up afterwards. Oh, and we have butterscotch pudding in the fridge too for dessert.
Our neighbors joke about my live-in chef. We often share with some of the neighbors and they love him. And sometimes they return containers with things inside like cookies etc. I like that part.
One neighbor, right next door, frequently bakes us a loaf of banana bread, one of Rod's favorites. Another neighbor, a man, takes us out to eat from time to time. He makes a pot of chili and eats that all week long. I could not do that. He loves to come over and often joins us for supper. No family in area, poor guy.
WE had some banned food last night for Valentine Day. It's big and pink and often smoked and starts with an S and ends with an N and I love it. Walmart here had some very long whole ones on sale awhile back and we bought 4 of them. They take up lots of room in freezer tho. And so large cut each into 3 pcs and still have leftovers at the meal.
Rod tried to cook some Kale but didn't turn out too good. We often throw kale into soup but how do you cook it alone. Always seems to be too tough. Are we not cooking it long enough or what? It is good in soup but simmers in there awhile at end.
You all have such a neat thread here.....suppertime and what do I do tonight is fun to read. You all have given me some good ideas. Rod does most of our cooking and I and the neighbors are all guinea pigs. We try it and decide if we will ever do it again. He loves to experiment with food of any kind. Can't wait until can use smoker and grill again in spring.
Happy suppertime, everyone. God bless as you eat and enjoy each others company. Hugs, Shirley Mae
