SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Nov 27th
Good morning,
Our house seems so empty here now that everyone is gone. Even the few weeks we didn't have company, we at least had Mick, my brother's dog. We've had more dogs staying with us than people the last 3 months! lol! Cats just switch their tails and glare. and go high.
IRISH - What a bummer about the first egg. But wasn't it Harriet who laid 3 eggs last year or was it your other nest? We'll hope for that third one. Hope your day yesterday was wonderful! how many finally showed up? Have you by any chance gotten picked up your mail this week??
BECCA - How terrible for a facility to lose a medication! I hope it's all worked out now.
JANA - I would expect no less than that all of your kids, boys included, could turn out a wonderful Thanksgiving meal!! My son could make the best cookies, and still does, but that's about all he could do when he left home. Though I did teach him to do laundry, sew, and do buttons, and write thank-you notes.
CHICKIE - If I got beaned more than once while helping with the wood, I might quit my job! My BIL is kind of like that - a bull in a china shop and a little bit careless. That's how Bill's finger got smashed. BIL was running the splitter. But we pointed no fingers. They were being bandaged! lol!
TINA - well, are you busy planning your Christmas dinner gathering yet?? You are one busy lady! Any word yet on when your parents' house will be moved to their new property?
We have enough leftovers for one more go-round if DH can handle them. Scalloped potatoes with ham and sweet potatoes and I'll add a salad. I think tomorrow I'll use ham broth I saved and make red beans & ham bits over rice or potatoes. But I'm getting ahead of myself here. Now the 'surprise' is out!
Are you still eating leftovers?

Good morning! I’m so glad I was outside yesterday and got a walk through the pastures with the Hooligans in the sunshine. Today is pretty gray with possibility of rain later. We’ll see about that… So, here will be laundry and playing in my sewing room!
Jana—it’s amazing how many boys don’t cook or sew on buttons. I can’t tell you how many bosses that I sewed on a button for them while they waited to go to a meeting. I always had a bag with quilting needles and thread with me for lunch hour sewing. (Some bosses were women, too!)
Mary—DH must be your BIL’s brother from another mother. I have to be always on guard when helping because no matter where I move, tossed logs find me.
Becca—I’m not familiar with stand alone hospices. I had my DH at home with the nurse and attendants coming to help me care for him. Some people have hospice care at nursing homes with outside hospice workers going to the nursing homes. I can only imagine losing medications, and it’s unacceptable for a facility in the caring business. I used to go round and round with the nursing home about my late MIL’s medications. If it was a different situation, I wouldn’t have done business with them.
Irish—good luck to Harriet and her elegant eagle dad! How often do you go to the mailbox? We go pretty much every day as DH has coffee a block from the PO. Ours is only open 2 hours from 8 to 10 a.m. Joys of tiny towns! Of course, we’ve been on the chopping block by USPS for years, but we mount write-in challenges and have been saved… barely!
You mentioned Christmas dinner… the last thing SIL said was “where’s Christmas dinner going to be held?”
I didn’t make chili or soup last night… we had hamburger helper stroganoff with some mushrooms and celery added. Tonight… I have some ground turkey, and I think I’ll make either chili or taco soup… I like those on gloomy days. Or, maybe a wild rice-type soup with the ground turkey… Decisions, decisions…
Bon appétit!

Good morning
Hmmmmmm I've never heard of the rolls you all were talking about. .. I'll have to see if they are available here.
Holly asked my parents yesterday if they were going to be moved by Christmas, Mom said no Dad said maybe. ....I just want to pull my hair out! May you know how our winds can be so if they done get moved by Christmas it might be after June next year because January and February are way too cold do be doing much outside and March starts the windy season......I really wish they'd think of others. Oh well it is what it is.
We had the hamburger helper last night, I was too tired to leave the house. I might make soup for supper
I'm lucky that I don't have to check my mail, my mail lady brings it and puts it in our yard and we don't have neighbors really so I get for service
Have you had anything in your mail lately?
Tina

Good early afternoon from right now, very sunny but still chilly, SW. PA.....
Mary, time for you to sit back and relax and as someone suggested, store all those good memories in your memory bank.....A lot of my good memories help me get through some of my nights....And the other day, you had asked about Terry's interview which went fairly well but I don't think they offered what he is making now, so we'll wait and see.....And, no, he's no longer a teacher...He does have a degree in math and taught HS Trig and all the fun stuff but then went on to get an engineering degree which he does now...It's quite interesting when you have a bunch of engineers sitting around the dinner table, discussing things...Even yesterday at dinner, we watched Stephan "build" a mound of potatoes that would hold his gravy without leaking...He's a 3rd yr.engineer and I asked if his was civil.....We only had 10 for dinner and then this morning a few stopped in for breakfast before Stephan had to leave to go back to school....Terry will be leaving soon and then, the house will be quiet, much too quiet.....
Tina, I too was wondering about your parent's move...Hey, when we get old, it's hard to get us "moving" fast, takes time to get some parts working, lol......Haven't had hamburger helper for awhile and really should have it in the pantry....Maybe you should sit back and relax today also....
Chickie, I have a feeling we're getting some of your weather, at least the sun...If only we had another 40 degrees, I'd be a happy camper....I also can't get over boys (and some girls) who can't sew or cook...So proud of my men folks...Since Nick didn't come this trip, he made a complete Thanksgiving dinner for 10 of his friends on Friday, and no Stove Top stuffing, he made his own....Next year, I want to go to his house, lol.....And there you go, more Hamburger helper....For sure I need to get some.....
Today is a nothing kind of day, or should I say, no plans kind of day.....Terry is doing last minute packing, Jim is our raking a few leaves and I just finished cleaning the kitchen for the umpteenth time, lol.....Will be striping the beds (maybe, tomorrow), going to Dan's to feed his fur kids and hopefully, doing some sewing.....
AND, maybe I'll stop at the PO and check the mail....Jim used to walk to the PO almost every day but now, I'm afraid, he'll take a wrong turn...He does have a hard time finding our box and the gal even put a big X on it for him but it gets very frustrating for him so I just try to stop when we're out....
Our dinner will be left overs from yesterday...Of I should say, the stuff that I didn't add to the huge box of food I put in Stephan's truck....It was such a joy being able to cook, actually cook.....
Happy eating........

Good late evening!
Irish- oh how i know about engineers! Michael is 3rd generation engineer and then our Matt is a engineer and now Aaron is studying to become one too. Help i am surrounded. LOL And the civil joke was not missed by Michael. You see he says there are civil and uncivil engineers! He is a specialized electrical engineer.
Dinner was very yummy and tomorrow i will tell you of my big fiasco in the kitchen. Wait for the rest of the story!
Enjoy the suspense,
Jana
