SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Nov 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Nov 17, 2016 4:06 am

Good Morning,

I've got to make this quick this morning. I overslept and have things to do before meeting my walking buddy in 30 minutes. Yesterday I got my hairs cut and am sporting a bit of a new style. Or actually, more like my old style from past years. Not much to do with short curly hair! We also spent a few hours at Jim's splitting more wood from all those big rounds we hauled home for them last Aug and Sept. We also hit Costco and dropped a small bundle. A little sewing happened, and a nice supper. Seems every day is a big, busy day.

IRISH - I forgot to mention Terry in my last post! Dang me! How did he hurt his arm? I sure hope it doesn't interfere with his plans to come home for TG. And a job interview near you??!! Whoopee!! Will be praying he gets it! What heaven to have him home again, especially now. What about Nick? Will he stay and finish his school year or transfer?

BECCA - so happy to hear your skies are clearing again. I've been worried about you - more than you know.

JANA -your Sarah is one talented lady. Wonder where she gets it! Sure hope all goes well for Stu. Even with the hand, how nice to have him home for the holidays!

TINA - know you've been particularly busy the past couple weeks. Hope you are eating properly! ;l)

CHICKIE - Sewing today?

Tonite my sis is providing supper in the form of lasagna, coleslaw, and garlic toast. No cooking for me!!! Yay!!

got to run!

Eat!

Good morning! I didn’t make it here yesterday… got started on Mom’s quilt, took a break for brunch and Ava, and back to the quilt. I think I’m about ¾ of the way through the quilting. I’m sure going through the thread spools! I’d bought all they had at Edna at the Quilt shop of the small Guterman spools, and I went through all of them. Fortunately, I had a new large spool of Aurifil in the mail this week that was only a tad off colorwise, and I will have plenty. Once quilted into the quilt, it’s totally difficult to tell if two colors were used.

Today I’ve been out to see my other two grand dogs and now have a cookie in the oven for DGD. It will be delivered tomorrow. I HAVE to clean floors today, fix brunch and go see Ava, so the quilt will be waiting for me until later.

Last night we had fajitas made from leftover steak. I think tonight will be some chicken for me and steak for DH. K.I.S.S. is pretty much my cooking motto when I can get away with it.

Mary—I’d love to have curly hair!!! We have high winds today, so thin, fine, straight hair is covered with a ball cap—needs to stay on indoors, too, after being outside.

Irish—Add me to the list of positive thoughts for Terry moving closer to you!!! That would be wonderful!

Mary—dinner sounds great!!!

Cookie buzzer went off, so time to get busy again… Bon appétit!

P.S. Jana--snow!!! We are to get down to snow weather tomorrow night, but I don't think it's in the forecast here. We are 70+ today, 50 tomorrow and hard freeze tomorrow night. Aaaak!

Mary and Chickie, you both get so much done. .. wish I got half as much done add you both. We're having wind from the storm that is affecting Albuquerque and up where Jana is getting snow. ... I'm so ready for snow! LOL
Last night I made chicken fried steak and made Frankie a very small batch of mashed potatoes. .. he ate every bite, no leftovers there LOL I made an extra CFS for the boys for lunch today and will add rice and brown gravy and green beans. .. I'll have a salad same as last night :)
I have cube steak thawing for supper tonight, might make the chili and onion and tomato stuff to smother it in. Or I might turn it into soup LOL

Hello everyone,Sunny & clearer here today. We are very grateful. We are in 70s but The cold is coming so they report.
Those fires will be going for a long time.We need rain rain rain but not in forecast.Over in Lake Lure area it has stopped mail for 4 days now.Lots of business have closed due to smoke & roads closed. The firefighters will be away from Family for Thsgiving. We are so grateful for their sacrifice.

Tina You must remember You are keeping little ones.Thats makes all the difference Plus look at all you do for others.I think you are amazing in all you do.

Chickie You enjoy your walk.So glad it doesn't bother you anymore.Know DGD will love the cookie.

Maryz My DD has Curley hair & she straightens it.I would love it.My has waves but no curls.I read you may be feeding 100 people.I would be planning like crazy if I did that.
Thanks to you & everyone for the prayers & love shown over the fires. It has been very stressful especially with DH.He didn't want to leave .I would have gone but then it spread everywhere. So it was best we stayed.

Irish Praying for Terry's interview.I know what a comfort & help that would be for you & Jim.Hope your day is good.

Jana The snow must be pretty. We could use some here to help put out fires. But not likely to get any.Too warm for that.

We may have some soup I had made in freezer. If not will go for breakfast.I could eat it more often for main meal.Becca

Forgot to mention. Our Post Office is closed due to a suspious package.Authorities are here from Atlanta,GA checking it all out. What a World we are living in.

Good afternoon from a very sunny but(yep you know, chilly, Sw. Pa....Hearing all the forecast, looks like we might be getting some of that nasty white stuff this weekend but before that, it's supposed to be near 70 tomorrow...We'll wait and see!

Mary, You really do have busy days...You sure don't let any grass grow under your feet...And your supper menus, I'd like to make a reservation.....How come, most times, if you have curly hair you try to straighten it and the opposite if you have straight hair....Mind is in between, have lots of body (told you I was fat) and if my hair gets longer it really curls, mostly the wrong way, lol....Our poor Kathy, was born bald, had no hair until she was about a year or so and then it started and hasn't stopped since...She has so much, the hairdressers cringe when she makes an appointment...In fact, when her kids were small, they would have a contest to see who could secretly hide a lego or something in her hair...But, speaking of hair cuts, both Jim and I need to go and get our ears lowered, maybe tomorrow....

Becca, every day I check to see if it's raining in your area...Maybe this weekend, you'll really catch a break...We can only pray on it...
You know, I think we all take our firemen and those who volunteer, for granted...They really do give up so much and get very little praise...I'm sure the people in your area are so appreciative....I agree with what you said about Tina...I honestly don't know how she manages what she does and is still able to take care of little ones...Hope your day is a good one, also......

Chickie, you're another one who amazes me....I have a feeling you have some of your mother's genes....Enjoy your nice sunny, warm day...

With our Terry, he better soon realize, he's no longer 16! Way back, the middle of Sept. he wrecked on his mountain bike, messed up his left leg pretty bad and hurt his left wrist/hand...Of course we don't have things checked until weeks later and they found 2 bones broken in his hand...The skin grew back on his leg and then his right knee started and he had an MRI...Well, no surgery, doc said, muscle had torn away from his knee and bleed and when the blood clotted, that was what was causing the pain...As the blood is absorbed back into the body, the pain will lessen and he'll be good as new..(I think his mother is going to have to take away his bike)....And if he gets this new job, Nick will still stay in N.C. and finish school and then the house will be sold....Right now, he's taking one day at a time.....I really, really do appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts for my family....Honestly don't think I could get through it without you all.....

I had a nice long call from Kathy last night and she's trying to talk me into a trip to Ireland in June...She said, it's just in the planning stage but wants me to think, long and hard...Also, thinks my sister should go...Wonder if Ireland would be ready for our invasion...

Finally gotten to some of the closets upstairs and have bunches of stuff for Goodwill...Also went through my yarn and will be sending a lot to Cari this weekend...Her DB, Dan, is going to DC and then meeting up with Cari and DH so he can deliver...I'm also sending out boxes of cookies that had been frozen from the wedding and she can have a ball.....Lots of goodies headed for central PA...

Well, Jim decided, he wants to take a bath..This is a major job, almost takes 3 of us to get him in and out and there's only me, lol.....As far as dinner, it might be soup and sandwich or breakfast, again....Whatever, we won't go hungry......

Happy eating................

Good morning!

Yes i have snow! It started yesterday and the storm is gone now. On Wednesday we had temperatures of 72 in SLC and today we are at 32 degrees. Mother Nature has finally decided we need the cold. My mountains are white.

Dinner happened like i thought last night. So we grabbed some chicken while we were out getting a piece of needed fabric.

Time to heas to the Batt Cave,

Prayers for rain and snow on those fires!

Mary - 100! That's alot of food. Our church does the afrer funeral luncheons and most of the time we do ham, funeral potatoes, green salad and rolls. Much can be done ahead. Funeral potatoes can be made with frozen hash browns to save time.

Got to go,
Hugs,
Jana

Irish--I'd LOVE to have the experience of thick hair!!! Forgot to tell you earlier... my UPS guy still had on shorts yesterday... I bet he won't tomorrow and definitely not if he makes Saturday deliveries!!!

My days never go as I have on my to do list... I ended up helping DH load and off load some HEAVY oak for his firewood business. On a funny "I told you so..."-- We loaded his trailer, then we loaded the back of the ATV and still had oak... This is heavier than most other woods we load. I kept saying... don't you think you have a full load? Aren't you going to put up the tailgate on the trailer? Well... He had to off load some to get up the bank of the dry creek bed; he had been cutting across the creek. It was super evident when he backed down to get a run up the bank and buried the tailgate which was down and loaded! I could barely contain myself from saying the words, but I bit my tongue. He still managed to get the whole load up the big hill and across the pasture where we unloaded it into his wood racks. Still... Sometimes he should listen to me...

Jana--I think the big storm will go way north of us, and we will just have the cold and blustery winds.

Tina--If I had grandkids to care for daily, I'd get nothing done!!! You are superwoman! I remember what it was like for 6 months with one baby before I had to go back to work. I put her in her playpen while I sewed little dresses for her, and she was content. I don't think there is such a thing as playpens any more.

I'll try to get here tomorrow, but it's DGD's cookie delivery and be with my DD afternoon. I made a little hedgehog on the cookie. I'm hoping she will love it.
