SUPPER CUB - Thursday, Nov 10th
Good Morning!
Spaghetti supper, good friends, fine (sort of) wines. What a nice evening last night. Tonite, we're back to same ole', same ole'.
My brother remains the same. He is not getting his Parkinsons meds now so those symptoms are really dragging him down. He can't move much because of stiff muscles, can't talk much, can't focus eyes, can't swallow well. I'm not sure which causes him the most suffering - the PD or the cancer. He asked my sister and me to get him something to do. He is bored. All we could suggest was TV, which is right by his bed in the living room. But they don't watch it much. I feel so badly for him. He just lays there either sleeping or watching the ceiling, and waiting.
IRISH - I hope your vac isn't going 'the route'. On the other hand, a new one might be nice . . .
TINA - you've been busy, I know. Glad you found time to eat!
BECCA - About half of the fires in the west each year are set by arsonists. I just can't believe people can be like that. Praying for your safety. and for your brother.
JANA - yay for teaching your girls etiquette and proper table settings! We hunker on the couch in front of the TV to eat for the most part, but I am so grateful that my VERY extensive Home Ec classes taught me how to set a table. Occasionally, I do like to put on the dog!
Not sure about supper tonite. I'm thinking of split pea soup. I love it with toast. I better see what my sis and BIL (Al & Tina) before I get too deep into that. Otherwise, it might be a scramble or poached eggs.
Yum!!

Hello everyone.
Maryq You just gave me a little chuckle & I needed one.Never saw you post here & you made me laugh.I too hate split pea soup.
Maryz your post on DB made me sAd.Maybe someone could just sit by bed & do something to keep his mind occupied.I thought of games but sure he couldn't do that.
Sure are praying for him & all of you.
It's just more or less a stressful watch we keep here.More have been evacuated. We went to town & its a lot better there than here.Grocery store was purest air I have had in a week.DH doesn't want to leave.DGS came last nite.Said he would come if we have to leave.Hes a volunteer fireman.I pray we get rain or he gets caught. They Have a good description of his car.He sets them in the afternoon. What a sicko.
Irish I have 2 patterns one is sweetie pie.And pokey dog. Will see what they are. Will find out in Jan I think if they cooperate. With twins it will be harder to tell.If so I will make them generic.Hope you & Jim are doing ok today.
To everyone else hope your day is better than mine.
Forgot food.Does that tell you anything? Potato soup & chili. Becca
Will be soup or soft for me for 3 wks until crown is permanent.

Good morning,
Mary - oh you nailed one of the most banned foods at this house , by me. Everyone else loves it, so i save the ham bones for either Crenda or Sarah and DH goes to their house to eat. Once when Crenda was new in the family she made this for us and i was polite and ate a tiny bowl full. Now she has been here awhile, no more! LOL
Becca - stay safe, glad that you have a fireman nearby!
Tina- good to see you! Praying things are going better.
Maryq - join here more often!
Dinner - humm no idea - Kate wanted pizza the other night so that may make an appearance. We will see.
Enjoy!
Jana

Re: SUPPER CUB - Thursday, Nov 10th
Good afternoon… late here! I was slow getting the kitchen cleaned up after brunch. Mike and Matthew were a little late arriving, but everything drew raves. I’m still so nervous about cooking for a restaurateur! His place is “Fancy’s”; mine is Not So Fancy. This morning we had fresh fruit, buttered toast and an asparagus/mushroom/ham quiche that was actually delicious!!! DH gagged down a few bites—too savory for his breakfast tastes, but it was 11:00 a.m.—time for lunch or our brunch. Actually, it was lunch for him since Mike had taken donuts and fritters to coffee. Of course, DH did his part to make them disappear. He really needed the ham/cheese/asparagus to bring down his blood sugar, I’m sure!
Tomorrow I’m thinking blueberry muffins, ham slices and a scrambled egg mixture of some sort… maybe with some cheese and a bit of onion. Fresh fruit maybe that is left from today with some additions to it.
Mary—so sorry Jim is going through such a rotten time. He’s getting lots of pain meds??? Maybe Terry can read to him. The night Jim died, I sang hymns to him for a couple of hours. He was gone an hour later.
Becca—I certainly hope they catch the arsonist! That’s so sad that so much is destroyed by a pranking idiot. Same with the ones in the West. They need to throw the book at them when they are caught!
Hi, Lois!!! Welcome to the table! My DH ran away from home when he was a little guy rather than eat brown gravy. He still hates it. I can’t understand that. He will practically eat road kill and love it smothered in white gravy, but NOT BROWN GRAVY on anything not even pot roast!
Jana—too funny about your banned food!!! YUM!!! I think the Miss Manners lessons are important. You never know when you might be needing to know. A formal tea with little sandwiches and cookies is a fun wrap up. My aunt did it with us. I know what to do… just don’t always do it.
Tina—I’ll follow you anywhere when you talk Mexican food!!!
MaryQ—Hello! What!!! No split pea soup??? You, too!!!
I’ve laid out some banned food to make here for dinner. I could probably get away with not cooking since I have leftovers from last night’s dinner at the corner bar—chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. But, what would I feed DH??? It’s still early. I’ll see if I’m in the mood to cook later…
We had a slight frost this morning—34 degrees! I did turn on the heat system over the weekend or whenever it rained… just to take the chill off and moisture out of the air… Felt good this morning!!!
Bon appétit!
