Supper Club - October 20

Post by FarmChick » Thu Oct 20, 2016 7:39 am

Good afternoon! Here I am again—first at the table.

Carol—I know MaryZ is enjoying reading about your Dear Jane. There is a thread somewhere for Janiacs. Your quilt will be beautiful in those colors! NINE quilts!!! Wow!!! Ms. Frago must be awesome!!! What a fun class—so glad you shared with us!!! Your bread sounds delicious. I think we need the rest of the recipe… hint, hint! What time do you usually eat dinner? Half the time I don’t start preparing dinner until 6:00. I know, crazy!

Becca—so glad to hear your vision results! That’s just great!!! That’s terrible to have to wait so long for your appointment.

Tina—the bears sound so very special! How sweet of you to make them! When I worked, I lived in high heels and walked all over campus in them. Of course they all burned up, so I don’t have any now, but I haven’t worn panty hose or heels since I retired almost 11 years ago.

Last night DH asked if I wanted to go up to the bar for dinner… “isn’t it the special night?” I tried to contain my glee without doing summersaults and cartwheels and answered with a sweet little “I’d like that very much.” So… tonight I have leftover chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. I’ll be fixing a steak with potatoes for DH and salads for both of us.

Enjoy!

Hello there! I think it's still offically morning - here, anyway. We made it home about 9:30 this morning. We were going spend last night in Oregon at our friends and take today as a long travel day but my SIL texted me that my brother is starting to spiral. So, since our trailer work was finished about 1pm yesterday, we had a quick lunch with our friends and took off for home, getting a little more than halfway before dark (it's a 400 mile drive). We spent last night in a Walmart parking lot in Yakima. Ran the generator and got to watch the debate. Nothing new there! Argghhh!! The weather here is AWFUL!! The four hours driving this morning on I-90 and I-5 this morning were a nightmare - hard rain, fog, darkness, heavy traffic, heavy construction for 50 miles - and that was just ONE construction project! There were others! - and semi's everywhere splashing our windshield, blocking the rest areas, or riding our bumper. All that and two 35# dogs fighting for space on my lap. Then it took about 20 tries to back the trailer into it's parking shelter behind our garage, leaving us with a big mud wallow. Apparently, that was all my fault. ;o] But we finally got her tucked in there!

Jim went home this morning by cabulance. We were going to be there to help with his transfers, build a fire, get some groceries, make some veggie beef soup, which he loves. But everything we offered, we were told wasn't needed. So we'll go later today for the appointment with Hospice nurse.

CAROL - so you are planning a Dear Jane! I saw that and brought that Janiac thread back up to the top. It's in "Quilting and fabrics Discussions" I think. along with pictures. I did the entire quilt. Scrappy. Jacquie is still working on hers, I believe. Not sure where Carole with an E is on hers. It's definitely a labor of love! Love of quilting! And I don't think doing small blocks is any harder than doing large blocks. It's just that some of jane's blocks are HARD!

CAROLE - so how IS yours coming along? Did you get it finished? I'm ashamed to say I've forgotten.

BECCA - so happy to hear your eye surgery seems to have been a great success!

CHICKIE - so nice to be able to go out! So what was the special occasion? I know it wasn't your birthday . .

IRISH - Hello, my friend! How are things at your house?

JANA - seems like you've been even busier than usual lately, especially with the little ones!

TINA - so you got the old house all demolished on your parents' property? How is Frankie feeling? Bill caught his cold. Tell Frank thanks a lot!

Supper - I have no idea. I offered to make veggie beef soup for Jim & Terry but she told me she already has taco meat in the crockpot. To me that seems an odd choice for a very sick person who has no appetite, but this isn't my circus so I kept quiet. So maybe we'll be eating tacos. Not sure where we'll be at suppertime. I hope we'll be home, grilling a cheese sandwich perhaps. Or I could make a pizza. I have all the fixings for that. The possibility list is growing!

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Chickie - I usually start cooking at 5:30, unless I have word from my DH he will be late. I just felt very rushed last night and fell asleep as soon as I sat down to watch TV.

Maryz - I really don't think I will make the whole Dear Jane Quilt, but never say never!! It is definitely a learning experience in techniques! I will look at yours carefully. I knew you made one and it looked very beautiful.

Becca - We get helicopters too for someone who fell off the cliff after they climbed over the fence saying "DO NOT ENTER DANGER". Unfortunately too many lose their life. One day after a USC football player was in a bowl game a few years ago he climbed the fence and lost his life. Such tragedy!

Tonight's dinner will be a repeat of last night: Parmesan Chicken, mashed potatoes, salad and a vegetable.

Hope all is well with you and yours!
Carol
