SUPPER CLUB - Thursday Oct 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Oct 13, 2016 2:57 am

Happy 23rd birthday today to my DGS, Andrew. I recall always thinking (before I turned 23) that that was the purrfect age - old enough to be taken seriously as an adult, but young enough to still be young. lol!

I have a dilemma. We are having a family brunch here on Sunday. There will be 7 or 8 of us. Because of everyone's dislikes, allergies, and medical considerations we can't serve any meats, potatoes, eggs, wheat products, gluten, walnuts, tomatoes, cheese, or dairy. And to be fair, I guess I should add seafood, huh. lol! HELP!!! We have fruit. I'm taking suggestions if anyone here has any good ideas. I think I'll make some of everything and let everyone pick and choose - or not.

And a funny story to tell on myself. We were having quiche for supper last night so I made the crust a few hours before supper and, added the cheese, onions, and bacon, per directions for delayed baking, covered all with plastic wrap and chilled it. Meanwhile, I mixed up the eggs in a bowl and put them in the fridge. At 5pm I popped it into the oven and set the timer. I checked it 3 times. Thought it looked funny but figured it was the eggs. They were from my nephew's chickens and were various sizes, all pretty small, so I added a couple extra. Finally, after 45 minutes of baking, I realized I FORGOT TO ADD THE EGGS!! They were still in the fridge. Sometimes it's a real struggle to be me.

CHICKIE - & TINA - calabacitas!! Good idea! Cuz I have a LOT of zucchini! Thanks for the reminder.

BECCA - so happy you had a few moments of relaxing in the sun on the porch. Wish I'd been there. But if I had I would have been in the house ugly-ing . . as promised. Along with irish!

IRISH - we're going to need some cute aprons if we visit Becca! And you are right - even the nurses come running when "the doggies" come to town! And lots of hands reaching for them from wheelchairs in the hallways.

JANA - and I'm having a good chuckle over your Michael! But sorry you and your team are out of the playoffs. With my Mariners and your Giants out, is there anyone else left to root for?

VELDA - how's Willie??

TINA - how are you feeling? Get your parental paperwork finished yet?

CAROL(E)s - how's it going, ladies? Send me your wonderful and yummy bruch ideas!

Tonite - not sure. I guess it will be pork chops, roasted potatoes, and salad and peas. and you?

Good morning
I'm doing somewhat better. ... this cough is ridiculous.
The courthouse let me fill the form out online yesterday and I had to scan it and send it in, they'll call me when the permit is ready so I can pay and pick it up. The company doing the demolition had me print the proposal and sign it and then take a picture with my cell phone and send it in to them. I'm glad they didn't want me to have to make a trip into town LOL.
I read all your posts for Tuesday and Wednesday yesterday and keep meaning to post but never made it. Sorry about that.
I'm hoping for pork chops for supper tonight but it'll depend when I get that call from the courthouse. I did go into town yesterday evening to buy our Klobase tickets from my kids kindergarten teacher. ... she sells them to me every year. I told her I was sick but she said she's around so many germs with all the kids being around an adult that doesn't wrote everything on her wouldn't hurt her LOL we even had a great one hour visit! I really miss being able to visit people when I want to. ... I've kinda become a hermit the last 3 years.
I wish I could remember all what I had planned to post yesterday. I was going to respond to you all.
Irish, I think having some outings will be good for you :)
Becca, I'm glad you didn't bend over and had your grabber thing.
Carole, I can't remember where you mentioned it but you said you and Ken had decided to sell your motor home. ... does that mean you'll be staying at home even in the summer time and not going where it's cooler?
Velda, how is Willie doing. And I'm like Mary. .. I'd be so happy to be your elf, your bead work is so beautiful! Lucky elf you have there!
Jana, I know you're having a busy time with all your kids and grands :) family is great most of the time :)
I'm not sure if I remembered everything. ....
Mom and Dad are supposed to be here tomorrow. I've got to call, they both had Dr's appointments yesterday and I talked to Mom when they got home just long enough for her to tell me that they were home, she was to exhausted to talk and tell me what the Dr's said.
Have a great day
Tina

Good afternoon! We are still chilly here today. I'm sure it's going to get warmer in a couple of days. Wasn't it yesterday I was complaining of the heat? I'm never satisfied.

Mary--I was laughing at your quiche--laughing with you! It's the story of my life. It's a wonder anything I make is good. I frequently set off the smoke alarms, too. I made a fritata for brunch this morning... sans broccoli and onions. It was real good. DH came home early, so I didn't have time to make a full quiche. The chili was so good last night... reruns tonight! I've used some mixes for the gluten-free for DGD (not Natasha), but some even call for eggs; she's also no milk. I think your idea to make several things and label them with ingredients is probably best. It's not easy with all the issues you are facing. Maybe everyone should just bring what they can eat...

Tina--I know what you mean about hermit... since I've lived over here, I don't know anyone except you, my "invisible" friends. I hardly ever get out except to see Mom, have coffee a couple times a month with my friend that lives 50 miles away, and to get groceries.

I'm working on my projects, so you will find me in my sewing room...

Hello everyone,The early Drs appt kind of made for a rushed morning. And makes for a long day.

Maryz I laughed at your list of no nos.It sounds like our family. One can't have this & another something else.Makes you not want to cook.I say make what you want & let them eat as they choose. You can't please everyone.
And I also chucked over your eggs in frig. Now your not that old.Maybe too much on plate.

Tina Sure hope the trip to town doesn't happen. You can stay away from people too long I think.I have seen it happen before.I have stayed home so much I never care to go out like I used to.But I try to make myself go do certain things. So I won't be a hermit.lol

Irish So happy you found the helpers. Will help you to be out I know. But it is a chore getting all dressed up.lol

Chickie Felt you & the Hooligans fly by.Enjoy your walk.Yesterday on my walk I saw a magnificent bird1 male & 3 females. My BF said she bet they were migrating.Never seen anything like them.Tried to find pictures but wasn't successful or 100 percent sure.
Had bright red & blue on throat area. And down the breast.

DH has some ravioli & for me banned food & salad. And fresh apple cake.It is yummy
. Maryz & Irish Still waiting for you to arrive with your cute aprons.lol. Becca

Good afternoon from cold, wet, dreary. SW. Pa...Not sure just how cold it got (no frost) but anything below 75 is cold to me....
I woke up to very hard rain and all I could think was our newspaper is going to be soaked, lol....And of course this was garbage day, so here I am at 6:00, traipsing around outside in my robe, pjs, knee socks and Jim's shoes (his were closest to the door), getting the garbage out and retrieving the newspaper from under a bush... And how come, when you're looking your "best" there is always someone coming or going up the street......

Mary, Happy B'day to Andrew (I also have a DGS Andrew)...This also would have been my Mom's 102nd birthday...And thinking back when I was 23, I had just had my 4th baby, Kathy...Seems like yesterday!
Wow, I sure can't help you with your Sunday menu, that's almost impossible! In our family, Dan's girlfriend is gluten free and I feel so bad while the rest is eating their waffles and she's stuck with eggs and fruit...And I've found, the things she eats can't even touch or be made in the same pan with other foods...At Dan's house, she has her own set of pots and utensils....
I thought maybe you were creating a new quiche with no eggs, lol....But as long as it turned out OK.....

Tina, I'm praying for happy, healthy days for you...You really do deserve to have some good time.....

Becca, You did the picture of the quilt Izzy posted, didn't you? Have you decided on what you'll be making? And along with Tina's prayers, I included you and your DH...Also hoping for good days.....

Not sure what we're going to get into today, probably not much....Jim has already had his bath and now is taking a nap...So, I'm thinking, this is a good opportunity for me to get upstairs and visit my sewing machine...Did find some odds and ends and just might start a scrappy quilt....

For our dinner, new food tonight but not sure what...I do have some sauce and I know there's some tortilini or ravoli in the freezer...Make a salad, easy peasy..........

Happy eating..............

Good afternoon!

Seems as Andrew is a favorite name for grandsons - I have one too!

Dinner will be meatloaf, baked taters, and a veggie, probably broccoli.

I got tired of rummaging through my drawer of rulers, so organized them - took three drawers to fit them all! There are probably more that i will find in the Batt Cave. This is not counting all my rulers for the LA, they are in another cabinet. Time to head back down there and bring order out of kaos.

Enjoy,
Jana
