SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Oct 8th
Good rainy morning!
Sounds like a lot of us are having 'weather' the last few days. As long as the power stays on, I count rainy days as sewing days. I suppose the argument could be made that they can also be laundry day, or mopping days, or closet cleaning days. But where's the fun in that??
Our little guest dog is having a bout of "digestive difficulties". We've had to give him several butt baths, a butt haircut, and now we're doing spot cleaning on our new rugs. Poor guy. Not sure what the problem is. He is eating his same food, though not much of it right now. We have good water, and he's never outside without one of us with him. And Scottie (for once!) is fine. Makes life interesting. Thank goodness for our little Green Machine carpet cleaner. And Bill.
Now the computer. I've whined about Windows 10 several times here and I had a Microsoft pop-up this morning, asking if I would recommend it to a friend. Bill says "tell 'em how you feel!". So I did. One of my complaints was that pages I'm working on just disappear! and darned if just as I finished typing "I HATE IT", it went *POOF*! and then a 40-minute update started on my computer. Grrrr..... I guess they didn't want to hear what I had to say and shut me down.
CAROLE - haha! loosen up? Hey, I eat grey food! Unless it's fish, liver, or beaver. At least I did the other night. We had tater tots that had been in freezer for 6-8 weeks. They looked grey/gray. Other than that, is there gray food??
IRISH - I'm with you - if a hurricane came my way, I'd be headed the opposite direction! At least you get notice with hurricanes. Tornadoes are usually a surprise. My DDIL's parents live in FL, but are up in PA at the moment so they missed all the excitement. Where does Terry live in NC? Your Clancy sounds like a corker! We had a Clancy, too. A dog who would eat, and re-eat anything and everything. We loved him, but sometimes it was a struggle.
CHICKIE - your poor little straggling hummers. I just want to come pick them up and drive them all to the Mexican border! And haha!! I know YOU don't eat rodents. It's your hanger-on that finds such things tasty. What a good sport you are to cook these odd things for him. My mom hated using her good cast iron fry pans to cook fish for Daddy. she always soaked them in vinegar afterward at least 24 hours!
My potato soup turned out pretty good. Bill went back for seconds. I ran out of milk, so I finished up the liquid with a cup of beer. And it was pretty tasty.
Tonite - I never did make my sausage & beans over rice, so that may be on the plate tonite. Or a scramble. We have a high egg count in the fridge right now because my nephew sent us a dozen from his chickens when my sis visited him last week. As usual, I'll give Bill his options and let him decide what sounds good to him.
What sounds good to you tonite? Reservations, perhaps?

HAmburger can be gray if you don't cook it enough, cat food can be gray, oatmeal can be gray, and those are just a few.
Tonight will be a repeat of our pork tenderloin, mixed veggies on the grill, and scalloped potatoes.
Now I have to run to go to the Fall Festival. Hope to BBL.

Good afternoon from chilly, soggy, dreary, SW. Pa....We are just having rain, not anything like that nasty storm but not a good day for being outside.....Even our morning paper was wet and do you know how hard it is to read a wet paper???Even after turning up the heat and trying to dry it on the vent, lol.....All that trouble and nothing worth reading in the paper but had to do my cross word puzzles....
Mary, I was wondering, did you and Bill go to the movies? I would like to see Sully but don't think that's going to happen...I usually go see animated movies with Kathy and the girls..I wonder if they think if I go to an "big girl" movie, the words might confuse me.....
Sorry to hear about Mick...Maybe being at your house is just too much excitement...My Clancy was an orange tabby who gave me kisses..I also had to hold him during the night...He was a sweetie and I can still sense him in bed during the night.....Miss him still....
My friend Virginia has been in Florida for at least 40 years and has yet had to evacuate, came close but didn't go....She's had bad winds, lost part of a car port and a little water in her driveway but that's about it....But, then she's a brave soul, not like me.....
Carole with an e, If the hamburger was grey, I'd be pitching it, lol....Enjoy your Fall festival.....
As I said, today is a stay inside day so that should mean do some uglies but so far, nothing has gotten done....We actually stayed in bed until almost 9:00 and then it took all morning for me to decide if I wanted to even get dressed for the day...I think I've gotten the hang of retirement and I'm liking it more and more......
For our dinner, I'm thinking either a scrambler or soup and sandwich, easy peasy..................
Happy eating.............

Good afternoon! Reservations always sound good to me, but I put a chicken soup/casserole/mix-up in the crock pot. Later, I’ll either put crushed potato chips over it and brown it in the oven or I’ll make biscuits, drop them on and bake them for dumplings. I know EXACTLY what DH would prefer if I gave him a choice… biscuits it will probably be.
The hooligans and I went over to DS3’s and let out my other granddogs. I got some of his garden jalapenos, came home and made some poppers for my afternoon snack. Those are WARM peppers, but I love them!!!
I only had one rainy indoor day. I sure enjoyed it. Yesterday I went to town and visited with Mom and got my groceries. I did the shopping first and gave mom some lovely black and red grapes and a fresh banana. Don’t laugh at “fresh” banana… they have been ugly brown ones in the store for weeks… good for only banana bread and banana cookies.
Mary—I hope Mick gets over his “bug”. So funny about your mom and her skillet! i don’t cook fish in my cast iron but use a “hard” finish pan. I keep powdered milk in packets on hand in the pantry. The beer liquid sounds really good… might try it if I need liquid in my meal tonight.
Irish—I hope you find someone to go to a big girl movie with you! I know, families with children only seem to go to kid movies. My MIL loved the animated movies, and we used to take her with us for our “kid”. If they go to an adult movie, you probably have the kids! I miss all my past fur babies…
Carole—your dinner sounds just as good second time around!
I’m going to go work on one of my Christmas table toppers (gift, not fabrics) for one of my sisters… Enjoy!

Good afternoon!
Just got home from Logan's baptism and lunch afterwards. He is such a sweet boy. They are all coming out later to watch the Giants play. We lost last night, but today is a whole new ball game! So for dinner we are having caspar's hot dogs and potato salad. Some reason, the grabds all love my cooking.
But as Murphy's law says, you must always do something else first, before you can do what you planned.
I did get Emma's new dress done - fits her perfectly and she looks adorable in it too. Oh, yes, Sarah is running a fund raiser specially for research in childhood cancers today, so Ethan will be here later too.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good Evening Everyone!
I will be preparing my Fast Hash Dinner tonight. I am avoiding any chance of leftovers.
Irish - DH and I saw "Sully" a few weeks ago. It was wonderful! Hope you find someone to go with you.
Chickie - I wish I had an indoor day!
Carole - Your leftovers sound delicious!
Jana - It is nice to be appreciated! Glad your DGK like your cooking.
Maryz - I empathize with you about pets with digestive issues. Our cat is pretty sensitive. We have some new neighbors with four cats and they have been driving the other cats in the neighborhood a little wonky, so even though our cat is an indoor cat she has been upset. This week she is going on vacation so hopefully she will feel better.
I have been doing some detail cleaning of rooms and feeling as though I am not making progress. I did get some fabric pressed and just now finished cutting out a quilt. I will not get it sewn this week in Monterey, but will sew when I return.
Carol
