SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 25th
Good Morning!!
A little bit of excitement this morning. About 6am we heard a gosh-awful sound outside - like a cow bawling only louder. and there are no cows near us. It was sort of a hair-raising sound and the cats came shooting back into the house - even as Scottie went shooting out! He ran around every inch of our 2-1/2 acres and the neighbor's 2-1/2, barking. So brave. So stupid. Took us 20 minutes to catch him but not before he probably woke up the entire neighborhood. We still don't know what it was, but the cats are staying right where they are - safely napping on quilts!
IRISH - I really feel for you in dealing with your sweetie. Have you asked him to describe "home"? If he can do that for you, it may give you some insight into where his mind is when he is trying to go 'home'. I am so glad you are looking into getting some assistance.
BECCA - Oooh, I bet that fawn was cute! I would love to have deer visiting me (I don't have a garden!), but with The Scot on duty, we're lucky we have rabbits!!
JANA - glad you are back to 'normal'! When you figure out what that is, let me know!
CHICKIE - how is Mom doing? Sorry about the fleas. Have you sprinkled your house with boric acid? It's the active ingredient in Flea-busters, but about 10% the cost. It isn't harmful to pets or people but kills fleas, ants, and other pests. We sprinkled it generously on the bare floor and on the carpet pad when we got new rugs. Also under sofa cushions, etc. It's effectiveness lasts for years. Our vet sprinkled it on their tile floor and it lasted them, too for at least two years. The kicker is that you sprinkle it, rub it around into carpet or evenly over flooring, and then you have to leave it for a week or two. No sweeping or vacuuming.
TINA - glad you and Mary/Rosebud had a great week. And she was there for your big party to boot! A happy plus! Did you sew much? Your summer has gone way too fast! Seems it's only been just a few weeks.
Today is Autumn Day!! The bad news is we'll only have her for 24 hours. But the good news is that we'll have her for 24 hours!!! This afternoon we're all going to Bremerton so she can see our older grandson's new house that he is planning to close on in 2 weeks, and then we'll meet rest of family at Red Robin Restaurant where our younger grandson works so she can see him, too. She will spend the night with us and then tomorrow go to Seattle to see friends before flying back to Texas on Wednesday. But if life goes according to plan, we'll be seeing her again in Texas first week in November. That's only 3-1/2 months away. Just 14 weeks. About 100 days. But who's counting? , , ,
Supper plans? With the heat blistering most of you, cold sandwiches sound pretty good!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 25th
I'm still laughing at "no sweeping for a week"!!! Do you know what we would have if I didn't sweep for a week??? ... KNEE DEEP IN DOG HAIR!!! Tinker Bell is one shedding dog!!! I will do the boric acid in the cushions, etc. I'll also sprinkle it on the floors and rub it in after I have swept good and hope for the best... I use it for ants and such.
I woke up to a totally foreign sound this morning as well!!! Whoo-hoo!!! RAIN, RAIN, RAIN and some thunder, but mostly RAIN! No pulling hoses for me tonight!!! At 2:00 today, the temperature is supposed to be 84 degrees with a heat index of 104!!! Is that crazy, or what!!! I guess it's the price we pay for rain... STEAM! A wet sauna--but that's already summer in Kansas!
I didn't talk to Mom yesterday. It's hard for me to know when she is sleeping. I'll check with my sister today. Tasha and I are going to see her Wednesday when I take her home. We've had such fun. We made a necklace, bracelet and earrings for her mom for her birthday. She has also painted a VW Van on fabric and stamped daisies all over it--very 70s looking. I'm quilting it now--practicing my free-motion on my machine which definitely needs A LOT of practice!!! I'm glad Shelly doesn't mind. It's obviously full of love and Tasha's painting talents. The project will be around 14" square--a little table topper. Shelly loves all things VW.
Dinner... I'd love sandwiches, but we have some leftovers to choose from--lasagna and last evening's chicken fingers and gravy. There's also salad makings and tomatoes.
Mary--I feel your excitement at getting to spend 24 hours with Autumn!!! Have a delightful time!!! Your time sounds perfect together! Don't forget to give her jam to her!!!
Enjoy!

Good morning!
Mary - boing day! Autumn will be here! I have a worry for you and Bill, but knowing Bill, he will be on top of it. There have been a rash of UTV explosions and the UTV catching fire. Another happened yesterday, injuring 3 very seriously. There have been recalls for fixes and knowing you have one, I worry!
Chickie - the same warning with Mary goes for you too. Hope mom continues to do well.
Dinner will be grilled chicken and pineapple sausages with a potato salad.
Enjoy!

Oh yes Mary, we did a lot of sewing
we had such a great time! I have all the kids today and tomorrow....... Hopefully I'll live through it, I'm also taking Jazmyne to swimming lessons in town so that means feeding them all breakfast and then loading everyone up and when we get there I put the boys in a double stroller. The pool doesn't have any chairs so I have to stand for the hour but at least I'm in the shade.
I'm going to have to give more thought to supper, I just want something cold.

Hello everyone,Still hoping for rain. Not near as hot as Chickie.
Maryz Enjoy your day with Autumn. If you are like me anytime with them is special. My dog used to lay & sleep & never even bark at the Deers. The fawns are cute. The cousins are coming August 18 so there is much to do for me outside.I want it looking nice. And our 60 Anniversary is the 27.and DHs tests are Aug 1. Then Dr next wk after that.
Irish I have heard lots of patients want to go Home.DHs Mother always said that.I think some mean Heaven & some their Home.It is so hard when they do that .I used to try to deal with my DMIL.
Tina Glad you had a fun wk with Rosebud.
Chickie I was told by a chemist that boric acid is the best thing you can use.Hope it helps. We got them once & I almost cracked up trying to get rid of them.
With the quilting today I knew it would be late so I made homemade Spagetti last nite
Will add a salad.
We had 5 ladies & completed 11 quilts. Was hoping for more people but thankful for those that showed up. Becca
