SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jul 20, 2016 4:58 am

. Good Morning!

Happy Bill's birthday, everyone!! This morning I gave him 2 new ammo boxes, $$ to buy a step for the tailgate of the pick-up, and a personalized beer opener. Now I have a cake almost ready to come out of the oven. It's going to be a good day!

The wedding we went to yesterday (Bill's 42 yo nephew) was a real mix of on-the-edge and tradition. Bride wore a long, slim black dress with spaghetti straps. And a circlet of silk flowers in her hair. No bouquet. Attendant wore long red dress and carried two glasses of champagne. The wedding was outside at a beautiful log home. About 50 guests. It was on a Tuesday because it was a full moon. And when that was mentioned in the ceremony, several of the guests started howling. Bride and groom toasted each other right after vows were exchanged. There was no wedding cake, but there were trays of 3 kinds of cupcakes. tables were outside and dinner was catered. Two bottles of wine were on each table, each a favorite on the bride or groom. One was a nice, good Kendall Jackson cab and one was called Freakshow. We're not sure whose favorite was whose. lol! But it was a nice, meaningful celebration and very enjoyable. I would never have thought of leaving out the cake and flowers, but it worked so well! Lots of extra expense saved there that went into wine for the guests! ;o) For the 'favor', there was a photobooth and each guest, or couple, sat, had 4 pictures taken, and then got a frame to put them in. I'm glad we went! We were home in front of the TV by 7:45pm!

Tonite's supper, if DH reads this, will be leftovers. But really he doesn't know that I'm taking him to his favorite waterfront Italian restaurant. And I'm going to ask another couple to join us. Not sure if they can, but hope so.

got to go! Cake timer is buzzing!

Good morning from another very sunny, warm, purrrrfect day in SW. Pa....We have a breeze so no need for the AC....BUT, come Friday and the weekend, we're to be in the 90s.......Oh well, this is summer!

Mary, Happy Birthday to Bill....Hope his day is the best! Good idea about the "left overs"...What kind of cake did you make?....The wedding, the way you describe it, sounded absolutely delightful......I've only ever been to 1 outside wedding..It was by a lake and had to have been the coldest fall day ever...The wind came up and blew all the flowers in the lake and the groom had to grab the candle...We were so glad to finally get inside for the dinner/reception....That couple are the ones living next door in our big house.....Cari's wedding is to also be outside but there are plans to move it if the weather doesn't cooperate...She, also is having cupcakes but 1 small cake for the couple to cut....
I know how you must be feeling and counting the days until Autumn gets here....As you said, it might be a short visit but any time is great...Kind of like I'm feeling about Kathy coming for the shower in August......

Today is another fun filled day, lol....Went upstairs to make the bed and ended up looking for sheers for the back bed/sewing room...Not sure how I get so distracted but it happens....But, the bed is made and upstairs is neat and tidy (for a little while)....
We recycle our cans/bottles/paper and we do have a lot of cans...Normally, when I empty a cat food can, wash it and take the label off and sit it on the sink...And with Jim drinking Ensure, we do have the cans, so, I put them all in a plastic bag and carry them to the bin...Well, this morning, Jim decided he'd take care of them....I found the bag in the bin, with cans and all the dirty dishes that had been in the sink....He laughed when I asked him about it and said, "that's how you get out of doing something"...That little stinker, makes me chuckle every once in awhile.....

After I run the vacuum downstairs, we're finally going to tackle the porch, that I've been trying to do for days....This is 1 job Jim can help with.....

And as far as dinner, no left overs or waterfront restaurant here but the burgers that were to be last night's dinner will make it today...Might even make some macaroni salad and we have some super good ice cream for afters.....Just hoping Jim will be in an eating mood......

Happy eating..................

Good morning!

Happy Birthday Bill! Hope he reads this tomorrow, so dinner will still be a surprise.

Irish - life always needs a good chuckle!

Dinner here tonight will be pizza. The kids are signing papers on the new townhome now their agent is back from vacation. It's Kate's mom. Plus the kitchen is mostly out of commission. The painter is here putting on the lighter color first. Looks good so far. Everything is pushed into the middle of the room and the island is covered in books and stuff.

My sidekick will be here shortly. He is sleeping in, as they went and saw a production of Mary Poppins done by our local arts council last night. The stage is outdoor at the nearby large park. Full orchestra too. Pretty good for our little town of 25, 000. It is quite common here in Utah for all the cities throughout the state to do plays like this during the summer. We have a well known outdoor Shakespeare theater in southern Utah.

Enjoy!

Good Evening!
Maryz - Happy Birthday to Bill! Glad to hear you had a great time at the weedding.

Irish - Your dinner sounds like a wonderful summer supper. Hope you don't loose all your dishes to the recycle bin! lol

Jana - Hope the kids new town home is all built and ready for occupancy. We need to paint too and I am not looking forward to moving everything.

Becca - Glad you are getting your walking in before the sun comes out. Take care and stay cool indoors.

Today, I went to sew comfort quilts. I finished two tops. There were nine of us making quilts and I think all of us made at least two. They were all very pretty! Since we were in the local sewing machine/fabric store they were charging us $5.00 or a purchase, so I bought fabric. I purchased the best background piece for some fabric I had bought. I bought the Riley Blake piece a couple months ago on sale in a turquoise background with Blue and a touch of yellow. I found a very pale yellow and white piece that had turquoise and blue dots spattered on it. I don't think it would photograph well, so take my word for it it is purfect!!

Tonight's dinner was pasta and meat sauce, salad and garlic toast. I must tell you that at noon I made the pasta, defrosted the sauce and prepared the bread for toasting. When I got home at 5:30 my DH pulled in at the same time. We had dinner less than 15 minutes later. It was awesome!!

Have a great day everyone!
Carol
