SUPPER CLUB - Fri, July 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jul 15, 2016 3:35 am

Good Morning!

This afternoon we are meeting our grandson, Drew, at the house he wants to buy. It is inspection time and his parents can't make it so he asked us - well, Pop, really - to come, too, so he has a more experienced eye and head there. I hope it all falls into place for him.

IRISH - I hope Jim's S&D appt was just a good visit and that you got lunch afterward! thanks for the eagle update. Do you know if, after the 'kids' fledge, they hang with the parents for a while or are they off on their own?

JANA - when will you know about Stu's arm? You probably said, but many of my recent posts have been in the middle of the night when I was up, sick and I tend to forget things I read then. Bill, a retired IT Director, handles all of the computer stuff here, too. But I still have to wait it out. How is Michael feeling? Having gone through all that a few years ago, I can definitely feel his pain! But I have to say, I love my 2 implants!!

BECCA - Don't give me too much credit for sewing while sick. It was just bindings and labels, mostly. Though I did finally finish repairing that (really ugly) quilt from the 1980's. Did your DH's BP finally stabilize?

CHICKIE - you got caught up on your sew-along? Great feeling, I bet! My walking buddy texted me a picture of berries she got on her walk yesterday morning when I 'called in sick'. I just don't have the oomph right now to hike 2 miles first thing in the morning and then put in a full day. But next week, I'll be taking my containers with me and I WILL be walking! If not, I know where your freezer is!!

Dinner tonite? I'm going to suggest we stop at Subway on the way home from Drew's house inspection. I doubt I'll meet with much resistance, but if I do, the 'resister' better have some good ideas of his own! lol!

Bon Appetit`!

Good morning from some what overcast but warm SW. Pa....We had a very heavy rain last evening and during the night but might be getting more....The garden, what is left of it after the deer have eaten, was very happy for the rain...Too bad the deer don't care for the weeds.....

Mary, You know, maybe this ear infection was a way of telling you to slow down.....You've really been on the move the last month or so and need to take some down time...And so exciting to check out Drew's new house....This must be "house day", Cari is having the closing on her new home...She called last night and is so excited...New house, shower and then wedding, things are coming along....
Also heard from her sister, Jackie, who will be soon coming home from her trip to S. Africa...She always laughs when I say, I picture Africa as dark and jungle but I guess it's quite the opposite (at least where she is)...

And the eagles......When the "kids" fledge, they do hang around the home nest and the parents then teach them how to hunt and fish...After a month or so, they are then on their own and go off to meet up with other "juvies"...It takes about 5 years for them to mature and then search for a mate and finally settle down...It's kind of sad, after they do leave their home nest, if they happen to come back the parents would consider them a threat and chase them away...And even sadder, 1/2 of the eagles don't survive the 1st year...

Becca, been thinking of you and your DH...Sure hoping things are better at your house...And for sure, this "club" we're in is the pits! Hang in there girl friend.....

Yesterday days visit with the "SnD" was a good one...Jim got a good report and the arm is completely healed...Regis (doc) said, OK, now stay out of here and laughed but he knows we'll be back...Jim has his full body check up in Sept. and we all know, he'll find something...But, then we did stop for lunch and later, I stopped at a new quilt shop not too far from the house....
Today, I'm meeting with gals I went to school with and my sister and we're going to do Chinese...Might not be as long as lunch as we're used to but it will be nice to see them....

As far as dinner, that will be up in the air...Jim is not a Chinese person so left over lunch is out, lol...But, there's always lots and lots in the freezer...

You all have a great day....

Happy eating.................

Good morning,

Mary - we won't know anymore about Stu's hand for another 4 weeks. Then e eryone wilk get together to make the decision. Matt feels that they will do the surgery out there and he will stay and finish his mission. Matt has the most insight in this as serving as a Bishop and also having served as a missionary. Lots of prayers happening here. So happy for you DGS. That is wuirte a accomplishment at such a young age,

Irish - happy for Cari too. A house and wedding! You can send the leftover Chinese here - mine and Ethan's favorite. Sarah did homemade Chinese the other night and Ethan promptly announced that is was OK, but not as good as Panda's.

Becca - hope they get the meds straightened out. We have a time here too with meds acting up with DH.

Speaking of the pill! He is slowly getting better, but the area is still hurting. But he ate a little more than jello and soup. So I still have no ideas for dinner that are easy to eat, with no tomato based products. Dentist doesn't want the acid yet. So we will see.

Well off to wash the last of the rugs for now. I will do the guest rooms after the kids are gone this winter. I am changing the kids room and the adult guest room, switching them and will get new needed furnitue for the kids room. Need a trundlebed. I already have the crib.

Better get going, I am stalling!
Enjoy!
Jana

Good morning! DH is off to a meeting for a couple of hours… he missed his geezer coffee today, so he wasn’t in a very good mood.

Mary—it’s a long walk to my house! Still, that freezer is a good “carrot on a stick”. Come on, giddy-up!!! We have a grandson closing on his first house today, too. Soon there will be an engagement announcement…

Irish—good to have a reprieve until September! What goodies did you find at the quilt shop? Enjoy your lunch with the girls today—know you deserve the break! You need one of Izzy’s goats for the weeds—they LOVE weeds (and everything else). One of our friends used our goats (when we had them) to clean up some lots that were overgrown with nothing but weeds. The goats did a bang up job, then they got moved to new clean up jobs. No flowers were involved—just weeds where they were placed. You are teaching me so much about eagles! Thank you!!!

Jana—Ethan is just looking out for his mommy not having to cook all the time and giving her a break out. So cute! Maybe some Alfredo pasta or mac ‘n cheese… any kind!!!

I must cook tonight, so need to think of something… dinner out would be nice, but it won’t happen. Need to go check the freezer for some meat…

Enjoy!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Thank you all for the Birthday wishes.

Maryz- Sure wish you were feeling better. Hope you don't need another round of antibiotics. How wonderful to get to see your DGS new house! Hope you enjoy and get dinner afterwards too!

Irish - Glad to hear there was no slicing yesterday. Enjoy your day out. When is Cari getting married? Is it September?

Jana - You sound like you have really made progress on the carpets and rugs. Nice to hear your DH is on the mend.

Chickie - Hope you find something tasty in your freezer. I think I will be doing the same.

Becca - Happy Anniversary to your DB. 60 years is a very long time.

I got the stitches out today so just need three more days of keeping it dry and clean for the needle holes to heal. It is tender, however the numbness and tingling have diminished to within normal for 10 days after surgery. I am delighted.

Tonight's dinner will be something from the freezer. I have a retina treatment this afternoon and am not sure when we will get home.

Have a great evening everyone!
Carol
