SUPPER CLUB - Wed, June 29th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jun 29, 2016 6:53 am

Good morning!

I'm late this morning. We're home, but DS and BIL are still here and BIL gets up as early as I do. It seems rude to talk to invisible people when I have a live one sitting 3 feet from me, so I set you all aside. Now they are off for the day to visit their son. And you got me!!

CHICKIE - sorry about the carpet cleaning, but how great that your DGD is coming back! I know how much you enjoy her! What's the plan? any more sewing? berry picking? jam making? gardening? What fun to do it with her.

CAROL - wow! your trip came and went. But then I lost 3 weeks and am losing a good portion of this week, too. I tried to keep up, but missed a lot. Happy you had such a great time. I love the Grand Canyon. Bill and I went there on our honeymoon. But we both think we like Bryce even better.

IZZY - happy to hear my methods of cleaning smelly fabric work for you, too. Smoke is a toughie to get out. Dry cleaners also have a solution specifically designed to remove smoke. Our cleaners here gave me some when my house burned. But good to know the vinegar and sunshine works for someone else, too.

BECCA - how nice to have your dad's BBQ recipe. I never saw my dad grill a thing in his life. I don't think they even had an outdoor grill, come to think of it. Too many years of living where they had to cook over an open fire to make outdoor cooking of any kind attractive, I guess. Plus, to him, it would be "women's work". That was my daddy.

TINA - you put in a whole day's work before 0700! I need to lie down after just reading your post! I don't like to cook in hot weather eiter.

IRISH - how is it going at your house?

JANA - happy today!

Sis will be back tonite for supper so I have a simple dinner planned - preseasoned chix from costco on the grill. wild rice ala` Rice-a-Roni, and green beans with bacon and onion. A green salad if I have enough makin's. And parmesan bread under the broiler. No dessert. All easy peasy. It will be cool enough today to run the broiler. I checked. ;o)

What's your supper plan? For most of you, a cold sandwich may be the purrfect menu!

Good morning/afternoon! Yep, my DGD is back!!! Tonight, no cooking--we're going up to the corner and having chicken-fried steak or chicken-fried chicken... the Wednesday night special, and DGD loves them both! I'm not sure what all we will be doing this time. There will definitely be cooking tomorrow night, probably finishing some of her art quilts, playing with Ava daily, playing with the Hooligans constantly, driving the ATV... Never dull!

MaryZ--I think DH thinks ANY kind of cooking, including grill, is women's work. It's nice his sons don't feel that way and enjoy strutting their grillin' stuff. They even have smokers and fryers for more options. Since they all live nearby, we sometimes get the benefits of their culinary arts.

I'm going to cut this short and go have fun... Enjoy today!!!

Good morning,

Got a call from the Relief Society and a family needs a meal taken in tonight, so I will be cooking two dinners. The one I will take my chicken and rice cassarole, salad and a dessert. Our dinner will be bbq chicken.

Mary - Grand Canyon is nice, but my favorite is Yosemite. We've been to Bryce Canyon, but Cedar Breaks is spectacular! Very similar formations, but Cedar Breaks will take away your breath.

Chickie - the fun is at your house! I love my little grands, but as they are getting bigger, they are becoming even more fun! My cat Perry, is getting senile and forgets when he sees Ethan, so it is a great time of pets and nuzzles, every time they see each other during the day.

Well, my sidekick is asking for lunch, you see, he eats, then 5 minutes later, I get, I'm hungry!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from slightly overcast, chilly, SW. Pa...We're down about 20 degrees from yesterday and you know me, not liking it.....

Mary, so good to have to back home, whether you're late of not....Normally, after a trip, it would take me days to get back to reality....

This morning, we had call from Jim's brother...It was one of Jim's better days so he was able to talk to him...This DB hasn't accepted the fact that Jim has this disease..He keeps saying, "mom lived till she was 99 and was as sharp as a tack" and "it's not in the family". Well, guess what, it is in the family, whether he wants to hear it or not...After Jim talked to him, I called him back and told him exactly how it was and what was going on.....

I just got back from having a quick lunch with Jackie, DGD from Philadelphia...She's visiting for a couple of days before flying off to South Africa...She is one of the teachers in our family and loves, loves to travel....Last year she went to Europe and the year before she taught in China...Oh to be young!

Not much else happening in my household...I just saw a ground hog in the yard so I guess I'd better check the fence around the garden...And, the deer have been munching on the hostas so I need to spray some more "Deer be gone"...I'd rather just go upstairs and sew....

For our dinner, I'm thinking breakfast....I have all the stuff for omelets so that will be easy....Also baked a cinnamon swirl bunt cake so we have afters...................

Happy eating................

Hello everyone,full table today.

Maryz Your menu sounds good.My a Dad grilled & cooked inside too.He was never afraid to do whatever.Great Dad he was.Sure miss him& Mom.

Irish I have been concerned about you knowing about what you are going thru.I too have started telling my kids more how their Dad is.I feel they need to have just a small idea of what I go thru.

Jana They do grow up so fast.So enjoy them.Ethan is a joy I know.

Chickie I can hear all the fun you're having. So glad she got to come again. Some men think a Kitchen is a woman's domain.Mine have always been willing to help.

Just got back from groceries & library.Decided to go today instead of morning.Felt it would be less people.Ran into a Friend I used to work with at School.Had a good little visit.

It will be beans & turkey sausage.Brocolli & ice cream.....becca

Good Evening Everyone!
Tonight's dinner is Apricot Chicken, potatoes and broccoli.

Maryz -

Irish - You sound frustrated with your BIL. My Mom was the first to have diabetes in her family. Our answer: if you have a large family all sorts of things can go wrong. lol

Chickie - My DH will cook himself eggs, but leaves the cooking to me. He does do the dishes though.

Jana - I love Yosemite and have camped there many times. My claim to fame is that I hiked up Yosemite Falls once.

Becca - I love that you went to the grocery and the library. I think it is going to take a while before I get into retirement mode. I did switch my washing day to Monday. The weekend is much more calm.

Carol
