SUPPER CLUB - Wed, June 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jun 22, 2016 3:29 am

Good morning from my COMPUTER!! We have our feet set down for 4 more nights in the same place and they have wifi, so it's good to be able to type on a normal keyboard for the first time in more than two weeks.

My sister and I will be going to town this morning hitting some thrift shops, the two quilt shops, and a grocery store. This afternoon there is an ice cream social and our white elephant gift exchange. In between there might be some spare time to spend with my sewing machine.

IRISH - I am so sorry to hear about Jim. Is this how he is most of the time now, or was this just a bad spell? It must be so heart-breaking for you. (((hug))) I have some light sage green crepe and matching lace fabrics I bought for my MOB dress when Autumn was planning her wedding in Oct of 2002. But her plans changed and she was just married in her house of the time with about 18 people there. I had 3 days notice so I never made the dress. If you are interested in sewing a dress, and this fabric sounds like a possibility, I can send you a photo when we get home next Monday. You can have it all.

JANA - a mountain lion stalking the neighborhood doesn't sound good for everyone's dogs and cats!! I can't quite wrap my head around how old your sidekick is getting to be!! Seems he was just born.

BECCA - When we were enjoying our friends' yard, I thought of you and how pretty your yard must be, too. There is a small irrigation ditch that runs through their property. They damned it enough to make a tiny 'lake' with a 2-foot 'waterfall' flowing out of the lake. Scottie was running full-tilt making his figure eights on the lawn, got too close to the 'lake', ran right into the air over the water just like in a cartoon, and then SPLASH!! The astonished look on his face as he clawed his way back out was hysterical. We couldn't stop laughing.

TINA - are you still in triple digits? I hate cooking when it's so hot, and I'm not crazy about eating much either! I do my hot weather cooking outside in a crockpot or on a grill. If I have to bake something, I either do it early in the morning or take my toaster oven out on the deck. your ice cube idea appeals. Going to share your 'recipe'?? :o)

I think we'll have grilled burgers tonite. I still have a few homemade buns in the freezer. And some raw baby carrots to munch on. Bill may have other ideas, but if so, then he will be doing the cooking, and that hasn't happened more than five times in 25 years.

What's the word humming around your kitchen?

Good afternoon from semi sunny, warm, SW. Pa....Not sure if we're going to get some rain (which is needed) or if Mother Nature is just playing hide and seek with Mr. Sun.....

Mary, Good to hear you have your feet planted on the ground and you're able to use the computer...Sounds like you and your sister have a fun afternoon planned..And of course you didn't have the camera ready when Scottie "jumped" into the water, did you???..
With Jim, this is getting to be pretty much the norm any more...I just never know what to expect...Last night, he had fallen asleep in his chair and then refused to come to bed...About 2:30, I woke to hear him laughing and talking in the living room....He said, he had been to the neighbor's, pushed open their door and was lucky he didn't get shot in the butt...I know he had been outside but I think, he went out the front and tried to get in the back door and then came back around the front...I'm really going to have to have the boys put some sort of locks on the doors that he can't open in case he decides to do more night visiting...My sister had been told, when a patient is admitted to a nursing home, they usually take their shoes because they won't go outside with out shoes but Jim has too many shoes for me to hide them, lol....And the dress fabric sounds purrrfect but I think I'd better pass...It's been years since I've made clothes and Cari might be celebrating her 10th anniversary before I'd get the dress done....

Jana, that would be scary to see a large "cat" in your yard...It's a shame, how they are loosing their homes and trying to find food...I would be leery about leaving a pet outside.....

We did some running this morning and now, I'm going to try to get some uglies done.....I still haven't finished the upstairs windows and also want to clean out the walk in and put down the carpet...Jim had volunteered to help so I'll see if that offer still stands.....

As for dinner, I went over board on the salad stuff so for sure that's on the menu...For Jim, maybe a chicken breast sandwich...He really doesn't want to eat a lot but if I make him a sandwich, he feels that's not much...I'm learning new tricks all the time.....
And for afters, he picked out some donuts while we were shopping....

Happy eating.........................

Lol Mary, no special ice cube recipe ; )
Irish, so sorry about Jim, maybe you need a closet with a lock on it just for his shoes? Frankie's aunt used to go visiting at night too, it was scary....we thought she was lost once but all turned out well.

Well we we're going to have chicken again tonight because I laid out a big package yesterday but Holly and the kids came over and Jazmyne and Easton wanted to eat here so I made chicken tenders, rice and green beans, it was yummy and we had strawberries for afters. Now I need to see what I have in the freezer for tonight....I really need to go grocery shopping but I don't wanna, toooooooooo hot! 105 yesterday, ugh. Supposed to be over 100 today again.....I think that makes over a week that we've been over 100, yuck!

Hello everyone,Hot here & getting dryer everyday. These temps really dri things out.

Maryz We do have lots to see here.Yesterday I went to Kitchen sink & 2 deer were eating about 10 ft from Window. And the fox comes most every nite to check for a handout. It is a beautiful place to live & enjoy.Your Scottie must have got a surprise.lol
Enjoy the shops & DS.Sounds like fun.

Irish I think of you a lot.Just this morning while we were in Town DH will say something to me to look out or you're going to hit a car.It is so nerve wracking.I asked him to please not to say anything but it doesn't help. And he will tell me I am going in wrong direction. His sense of direction has been lost.Hugs to you.

We got hair cuts, dollar store errands & eat out.Tried the new restaurant but no parking, all filled up.Had to go to one that opened a few months ago.

DD got moved yesterday & she is trying to get a little straight.Said it is a tiring job.Wish I could help but she is too far away.If DH was ok we could go but that is out of question.
It is real hot there too.Makes it worse.

Well after eating out we sure won't be hungry. So lite fare here.Enjoy your Dinner.Too hot to eat I think.....Becca
Tina You sneeked in on me.Try to stay cool. That heat sounds unbearable.Be sure to drink a lot.

Good afternoon,

Maryz - don't have too much fun in those shops! Being settled in even for a week is nice.

Becca - my mom would tell me how to drive too, even though she had lost most of her eyesight! My kids always teased that grandma was only as blind as she wanted to be.

Irish - when DS4 worked with the sheriff's search and rescue, he was sent out many times for those who went wandering or visiting. In that area, many of the assisted living homes would put on ankle monitors, to aid in finding those. The team got to tease, because the mass transit system was near and the wanderers got on and rode to the other end and many times were found in a Starbucks there. The team called that Starbucks at the beginning of any search.

Dinner, Italian was moved to today and last night we did sloppy joes.

Sewing a patriotic dress for Emma.

Enjoy,
Jana
