SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, May 29th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun May 29, 2016 3:13 am

Good Morning,

Our BBQ yesterday was fun, but all too short. And the good news is - no leftovers!! They took them all home!

I put JUDI'S recipe for hamburger buns in this post. I don't know if she's ever posted it over in recipes. But I will share with you all!

IRISH - Will I sound like a doofus if I say I don't know what the Stanley Cup is for? If I had to guess, and looks like I do, I'm going with hockey. Final answer. And if I were watching it, I'd be looking for your redheaded Kathy and her big bald guy! Good luck to whoever you want to win!

BECCA - I'm not sure I'd want to eat at a place called FATZ. I'd prefer to go to SKINNEEZ. haha!

IZZY - hello and welcome to the table. your jam sounds delish. I like rhubarb, but my hubby doesn't. and since he's the big jam-eater in this house, I don't bother. Thanks for your computer advice. But since I have a computer guru in the house with a 40-yr career under his belt in programming, IT director for City of Tacoma, Cisco Systems, teaching, etc, I'm not allowed to touch the computers. He says he knows about what you advised me, but then I'd also lose my security updates.

CHICKIE - I hope all the weather missed you!

TINA texted me that her mom is out of ICU but is very confused. Her dad is still in much pain though. Most of the family visited her yesterday and spirits were good.

We are supposed to meet friends tonite for an early Mexican supper so no cooking here. OLE`!!

And here is Judi's hamburger recipe:

Home made Hamburger buns
from "Yooper" Judi Cabinaw

1T yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
2TB veg oil
2 TB Sugar
1t salt
3 cups flour
1T Butter melted to brush over the tops before you bake.

in bowl of mixer or large bowl mix water and yeast till dissolved
in a separate bowl mix milk egg oil sugar and salt together add to yeast mixture and mix till combined,

add all of flour and mix till a shaggy dough forms....knead either by mixer or by hand for 10 minutes till dough is slightly tacky smooth and springs back when you poke it. if it is still too sticky add flour a tiny bit at time til it is soft and smooth
rise for about and hour till double.

heres where it gets tricky....if you want big buns (quit laughing you know you do)cut the dough into 8 pieces and shape each into a round flat shape arrange on a baking sheet...if your want medium make 12 if you want small make 16 I do 16 and they arent that small....let them rise till they are puffy and about the size you like....brush with melted butter

Preheat the oven to 375 and bake for 15 to 18 minutes till golden and there you have it...cool and enjoy...dont try to split them till they are cooled...

it is a double edge sword...you may never buy buns again,,,,we love them...they freeze well...I take them out of the freezer and wrap in a damp paper towel and Micro..them...yummy

Good morning everyone, cloudy here but no rain.

Maryz I hate Fatz & tell DH is you eat there you will be fat. They bring tiny rolls that are deep fried to the table as an appetizer. After what happened to me I will never go there again.I was awake most of nit both nites with pain in abdominal area.Know I got poisoned.Plan on eating only jello & drinking ginger ale today.

Tina Prayers for Dad & Mom that things get better for both.

Izzy Know your jam will be yummy.

Irish I am like Maryz about the Stanley Cup but think it is Hockey.

Chickie Hope the storms missed you.

I didn't go to church after being awake most of nite.It will be a quiet day here.We have chicken with noodles leftover. And I made jello. And cantaloupe for DH. Becca

Good afternoon!

Sitting here in singing time in primary, so have a minute.

Mary - thanks for the recipe - I will put it to good use. I had one many years ago and lost it, so this is great!

Becca - sorry you are feeling sick. You should report this to the health department in that city or county. They like to know of such things.

Dinner tonight is using up some rice pilaf and making a chicken rice casserole. Usually I don't cook on Sundays, but with the kids l7ving with us, ceral just doesn't cut it! LOL

Tomorrow we are having ribs, mac salad, potato salad, green tossed salad, cake, pies and whatever else may show up. Party time at my house.

Enjoy!

No storms here! We may still have a little thunderstorm tonight, but nothing looks severe.

Last evening I made pizzas, and today I made a blackberry pie, so we had leftover ham and beans for dinner. Tomorrow evening will the the rest of the pizza and a salad.

Becca--sorry to hear you are sick!

Jana--I meant to look for some ribs yesterday and forgot. Rats! Enjoy yours!!!

Mary--thanks for the recipe! I used to make hamburger buns. YUM!

I'll try to make it here earlier tomorrow. We will put fresh flowers on the graves at the various cemeteries tomorrow morning.
