SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 24th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue May 24, 2016 4:02 am

Good Morning!

We've got pretty nice weather today - upper 60' and mostly sunny. I should work outside today, but we all know that probably won't happen. But maybe . . . .

We watched DWTS last night. They are stretching the finale out over two nights so tonite will be big, too. I'm rooting for Ginger Zee to win - the Good Morning America Meteorologist. You know, I was called Ginger when I was little (a nickname of my first name, Virginia). So I'm a Ginger Zee of sorts, too! Right?

IRISH - I'm not sure I'd want to sew a quilt where someone else who is not a quilter, did the cutting. Good luck with that! Nick is such a terrific young man! Law enforement is a very noble profession and so often are getting a bum rap these days. Tell Lady Carol we miss her!

TINA - glad your mom came through her procedure OK. Did it work? How is her blood presssure?

BECCA - I bet little Avery is hungery and milk doesn't come in for a few days. All they get is colostrum and practice. And the occasional baby just never catches on. It happens. But those moms can pump and bottle feed the breast milk to the babies, or use formula. And if that were to happen, breast milk can be frozen. So handy for dads to get up for 2am feedings!

CHICKIE - I'm not sure of the spelling for The Other Doyal. but they are coming over for wine and snacks tomorrow afternoon to talk trailers. I'll find out. And I'd let YOUR Doyal know you are off his volunteer list if that's the working conditions he provides! Argghh!! Last year you got into chiggers and this year it's ticks. Ask him Where's the bluebirds and butterflies??

JANA - you are going to have a very busy houseful for a while, aren't you? I think you need Costco to be on regular deliver of milk, eggs, bread, and peanut butter! lol!

CAROL - I guess I won't be needing red cellophane as i can't seem to stay awake past dark in the summertime! lol! Your frozen snacks sound healthy.

The black bean lasagna last night was good and there's plenty for tonite and probably tomorrow night, too. I made it following the exact recipe. But doing it again, I would just use the spaghetti sauce I use for regular lasagna and sub the beans for the meat. Now I have to find a use for the extra ricotta cheese I have leftover.

Anyone needs some ricotta cheese?

Good morning! We are having thunder but so far only a few drops of rain… dots are not connected. I’m still itching from my volunteering to help DH. I hate ticks, and chigger season starts in a week or so—AAAAAK!!!! I wish I could use the Hooligans’ flea and tick meds!!! Someone needs to invent them for humans… a couple of pills at the beginning of summer, or drops on the back of our neck! Guess I’ll try to remember to spray down with Off!. I can’t be a prisoner in my house all summer—there are going to be blackberries to pick soon!

Kansas has had chiggers as long as I can remember—coming to see Grandma in the summer from CA, and we’d have itchy souvenirs of our visit. There were no ticks until the deer arrived about 20 or 25 years ago.

Wow! The “dots” are connecting now! Downpour!!! No volunteering in the mud today, although the ticks might have washed away… she said doubtfully…

Mary—I figured you for a Ginger! You are a double dose—hair and name! It will be interesting to see if the names are spelled the same. DH thought his Dad’s was a misspelling of Doyle—a friend of his grandparents when they lived in Texas. It’s good you visit in fall when the chiggers and ticks are somewhat past their prime feeding season.

You can make cheesecake with ricotta… or, you can stuff manicotti or big shells… I’ll have to try adding black beans to my lasagna… maybe decrease the meat so it’s not totally vegetarian… you-know-who and veggies…

Back when my DD was born a preemie, they put her on formula and didn’t give me a choice of feeding methods. I didn’t get to hold her for 3 weeks! Times have certainly changed!!!

Tina—hope everything is well with your mom today and she is on her way to healing!

Jana—how do you ever have time for quilting when you always seem to be cooking and feeding your family? You are so busy!!! I like Mary’s idea of delivery. When I was a kid, the neighborhood stores would make deliveries as well as the dairies.

Irish—good luck with the quilt! Think of all the scraps that will be left!!! My DGS has also mentioned law enforcement, but first he has to make it through high school. Best wishes to Lady Carol!

Carol—I like your frozen pops!

Dinner tonight… more of the steak and portabellas, salad, baked potatoes and Brussels sprouts (me!). I am going to have to make dessert for tomorrow night.

The rain is letting up. Guess it’s not going to be an all day thing… Oh well. I’m still not going to volunteer!

Maryz I think your bean lasagna sounds good.Of course I am not a meat eater, only for protein.

Chickie I would lay low until the ticks passed.Of course it is all Summer. We used to put sulfur around our ankles & wrisr when we went berry picking as a kid.Was supposed to keep off chiggers & ticks.

Jana Sure glad Stu is getting the help he needs.Sorry it happened to him.

Tina Sure pray Mom mends fast.

Levi got our trees cut & cleaned up for us.Such a great help he is to us.And I did 2 more gallon of berries.
I got the same girl for my Mamo that I had last year. She is the best I ever had.
I have been wanting S----n cakes,Will add potato for DH &. Brocolli for me.And fresh strawberries.Yum. Becca
